Thank you for this video. Im getting tired of hearing about how "horrible" the 9 Pro Fold's camera is and this video proves that unless you're looking for differences side by side, you're not going to notice anything.
Most of the people saying that are just keyboard warriors who have never and probably will never hold a Pixel Fold in their hands. Google's photography has almost always been about the software and not the hardware so I was never expecting much of a difference between Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold in 95% of the cases
Awesome vid brotha!!!! Confirmed what I've been feeling as well. 9 Pro Fold can absolutely hang, and it doesnt feel as big of a step down as i originally thought it would be. I still want the Pro cameras on a fold, never giving in on that. But I feel a lot better taking my Fold out only and not really missing my 9 Pro XL
Thanks! It's the first foldable I've used where I don't think about the camera anymore. I know the shot will be fine, pretty much regardless. Kind of crazy tbh given the hardware changes.
Great comparison Maybe I've been too harsh on my original Fold's camera (especially with motion). I think my real criticism is that cameras on phones haven't actually improved that much in the last several years. I feel like my 4 XL can take photos comparable to the ones in this video. Call me crazy...
Another great video 👍 although camera isn't my main requirement this is again pushing me more towards the 9pro fold, all in all a better package, just over a week till upgrade so keep up the good work mate 👌😎
I have the Pixel 9 Pro XL, I was very hesitant about buying the Fold, because I like foldable devices, but I think I'll wait to see if Google releases a Flip model, since it would be more comfortable for me. Good video
Its nice to hear a positive review of the 9 Pro Folds cameras ans see the comparison. Unless you are pixel peeping (excuse the pun) i dont think moat people wouod notice the difference. I think far too many RUclipsrs and reviewers have run the P9PF over the coals. Personally other than the charging i think it looks great. Even the weird design is quirky and i like that
Ever since the first Pixel, the photos have been excellent so I'm not surprised that both of these cameras are doing a good job. Overall, I'd take the XL since a lot of its abilities are hardware based which makes for a better photo.
Are you considering a direct comparison between the Oneplus Open and Pixel 9 Pro Fold, or is that something that isn't really necessary? :) Personally those are my two alternatives coming from an iPhone 13, and I'm trying to figure out which one I want! Found you while looking for P9PF content, your videos are awesome!
@@shanecraigtech Sorry, didn't think about the fact that I was writing on another camera comparison haha I already watched that, thanks! I was thinking of the phones as a whole. Hardware, software, camera, and what comes out on top. Now that I'm writing it out though, I'm realising most have already answered it I guess. Coming down to hardware being better on the pixel, while multitasking, specifically, is better on Oneplus Open, am I getting that right? I'm also guessing OS overall is better on Pixel, but that is a preference I guess And thank you for answering 😊
To be honest the OPO feels better than the pixel in every way except the cameras in my opinion. It's also better for cameras in many ways but for me who takes pictures of my kids in contrasty environments the OPO produces a halo and that might just be the deal-breaker for me to get keep the pixel over the opo
@@risd1071 Well damnit, I was about to order the Pixel, but now I'm unsure again haha Picture are not the most important part for me, no kids, only a dog, so user experience is more important
@@imsagiiI was the same undecided between the p9p and opo. Have them both and was going to keep opo but after using them for a while decided to keep the 9p9. The big factors are wireless charging and water protection. Did have some glitches with software on opo several times also.
Its more comparable than i thought it would be, much closer than fold 6 vs s24 or 23 ultra . I dont have any issues with my fold 6 or pixel fold 2 cameras other than the zoom which stinks (which i knew since ive had 3 folds lol). If want decent zoom ill have to look at vivo or honor folds or hopefully the samsung fold SE
Shane doesn't The 9 pro XL have a 50 megapixel sensor? I know you have to go into the pro settings to unlock it, but if you did a comparison using that, do you think the XL would be significantly better than the fold?
I haven't played around with the full res mode much, but in prior experience it would allow you to zoom in a bit further, but you'd sacrifice in other ways. Pixel binning is generally the right way to go.
Does the pixel 9 Pro fold Have pixel binning ? I for one really like the 2x zoom on Pixel 8 Pro, which comes out really well with pixel binning. Looks like that feature is missing on nine Pro fold. That is disappointing. Any idea why it does not support it even though it has a 48 megapixel sensor?
I had the 6 pro and switched to the 9 pro fold. I think I prefer the 6 pro cameras over the 9 folds camera. Last night when trying to capture the lunar eclipse Ihad to go get the 6 pro. 9 pro fold couldnt handle exposure from the moon.
This is exactly the switch I’ve been considering and it’d be super interesting if Shane did a P6P vs P9PF camera comparison! Both because a lot of people are likely on similar upgrade timeframes to us and to contrast the P6P’s generally better camera specs (on paper) with the Fold’s newer-generation camera chips and processing.
I hoped you had figurine of torterra, rather than evee and snorlax; torterra has more details. And something nature like that AI can be actually helpful to improve in post. Idk why I wanted to say this

It's absolutely not horrible lol. People are nitpicking and being overly dramatic.

I went with the pixel fold and these cameras are great! I came from a Samsung A71, so a big step up!

what's up with the charging?

I have a question. Why is the Pixel 9 Pro photos showing that the photo is 12.5MP when its main lens is 50 MP?
Pixel binning

On the main sensor, yes.

The camera definitely isn't as bad as people have been making it seem. I get they aren't as good as the pros but its definitely comparable.

Do u miss using Pixel fold or u know prefer the Fold pro9
Form factor, Pixel Fold. Everything else, Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
No folds are not going to beat the best candy bar phone
Thank you for doing this video. I was surprised that the image quality between the two phones were not as drastic as I was expecting.
