9:15 How cool is that little girl BLAZZZING on that trumpet? Cooooolllllll. U go girl. toe tappin, hand slappin, head boppin, digging the music YEAHHHH.
That's how a sax section is supposed to play together! great band ! let's not forget the great great Fletcher Henderson who wrote this great arrangement a real genius
I saw this girl in the trumpet section and I just had to listen. And she was amazing like everyone else. We have many good bands in Norway but never heard someone swing like this before. This is swing on steroid taken to a new level. Amazing how they swing and back it up with sound and dynamic. Its like listen to contemporary music going swing and sound and fun. This teacher know what he is doing and they are lucky to have him around.
Actually, this song was written by Fletcher Henderson. A very significant composer, pianist, and arranger and one of those who created the structure of swing music.
Even if every friggin note was written out, if a person don't have the feel for it, you know it in an instant. It sounds corny. I didn't hear one tiny note in these three songs that sounded corny. An I played jazz in the old days.
I don't think there is a way to know unless you have inside information. Or have multiple performances you can listen to (such as in the case of the band in the "Swing Girls" movie where the solos were always note for note the same).

Man I'm so jealous of them, they have James earl jones as their instructor!
LOL
10:00 DAMN THAT DRUMMER IS COOL. NO CHANGE IN FACIAL EXPRESSIONS WHETHER HE'S JUST KEEPING THE RHYTHM OR BANGING IT OUT. AMAZING.
And Lincoln. Mom was in a music program at Lincoln and it is why she got me into the clarinet.
Holy shit that clarinet solo was godly

The portrait of Louis Armstrong note choice in the trumpet solo! My guy!
Fantastic, kids. The Duke would be proud!
And so….music lives on. The Duke is smiling..

All memorized? This is dope
lol the clarinetist at about 12:23
look at the joy in their faces !!
Fantastic
The guitar keeps a nice steady rhythm. I can feel it.
Qué talentos desarrollados! Congrats!
in-fucking-credibly well played guys. thanks for this. for this age this is remarkable
thanks to young men and women like this big band is still alive...
Wonderful!
Great sound!
That is some VERY clean and tight playing. If you laid it up against professionals, I'm not sure you would be able tell which was which.
New jazz blossom.
Was it common with older bigbands for the entier sax sections to break out a clarinet and play it at the same time like at 5:15
Sing Yasna Sing.
Wow!
Wow. See you Yasna.
How
Rip mute 5:30
ofcourse this sounds great, but is there any real improv or are the students just playing a solo they studied on?
Oh, don’t be such a sourpuss!
All real improv
