What strikes me besides the excellence of musicianship is the obvious unbridled " JOY" of the members of the band, they are so happy within and with each others playing that is a lesson for all of us on this Earth to see how to live together, I loved it so much I watched it several times ,that's Jazz !
Jazz Musician myself: That kind of music "talks to me". Well played. Articulation spot on! Those students understand the music- very mature players! Those blues made me cry (literally).
The Band plays with an extraordinary joy and great humor in th solos from the musicans. The feeling for the music of the Duke and the integration from more modern aspects is fantastic. One trombone soloist plays a kot things from Wycliffe Gordon.

My school has a jazz band but I said "fuck it" and started my own jazz band . middle-high school jazz bands suck . Learning a wind instrument instruments takes many years and it can not be done in a school year . They should take students with a musical background instead of trying to teach musically oblivious children music in just 9 months .
I thought the bassist was wearing one of those animal hats like Jacob does sometimes and I was like: good on you kid for adding a little personality; then I looked again and it was just his hair
I love how everyone else in the band bobs their heads to the music when people do solos. This band is awesome.

Anyone else impressed that the lead alto picks up a trumpet and does some serious damage in the second tune?
I admire the trombones beautiful sound 😌

I have watch this video about 15 time now and I can't get enough of it. It's so good!!!!!!!!!!
I’m a simple girl,
I see ladies playing trumpet, I click.
How about Andrea Motis or Bria Skonberg?
Even though this is a trombone song I was "shaking in my boots" when I had to play the high F (trumpet) at the end back in 2002.
Brings back memories.
That was amazing. That trombone player is something else man...
the ending to the climax with every solo I felt that in my whole body...and everyone in the band felt it too...great !

Crispy the Cynical Turkish Memelord It depends on how much work you put into band, and it was their choice they chose band as their elective.
WOW just WOW

Beloit memorial is a massive school, i think their jazz band should be bigger than this
