the drummer should have started playing while the director was talking
Legitimately thought that’s what they were going to do
Baracus 797 same lol
ah yes
Good idea
ahahahaah
Imagine how bad that trombone soloist must have felt when everyone did a half-assed clap for his solo while the saxophone basically got a standing ovation. His solo was really good! I don't understand people.
Could be that it was mostly the girl’s friends?
people just seem to really overhype the saxophone. DOnt get me wrong its a good instrument, all of them are. It just seems to get more love than most others
@@BroPros4 it’s 100% this. Sax always gets all the hype
@@bando3582it’s both that and the fact that girls in band usually have a lot of friends lol
Prob cuz the trombone solo was ass
the drummer is in highschool and still managed to pull this off? thats crazy and massive kudos to him
he does not look like a high schooler
I mean... it's a song you practice like any other.
@@heatherperleberg7816 You're downplaying it for no reason mate
@@nunyabusiness8498 I'm not downplaying anything. The drummer is massively respectable for clearly practicing so hard to get this result. BUT. It's practice. Nothing ethereal, just cold hard discipline and practice.
@@heatherperleberg7816 I understand now, thank you.
If fletcher was the director oh my they would never be seen again
Louis West My guy they’re not the best jazz ensamble in the country😂
Andrés ik but the drummer would at least look at the music I’ve seen the John Watson arrangement and i know it doesn’t go like that
Andrés it’s at least three or four lines of the ride bell, snare, bass, and Tom, not like 5 measures
Louis West ah okay
that bass player really just in his own world
I know, so good.
he's having a great time
He's so cute the drummer is pouring his heart out and the bass player is just :)
IM SAYING
Kudos to the drummer taking the abuse and putting his best foot forward.
abuse?
@@Koag84 i think its a whiplash reference
@@Rex-golf_player810 it is :3
clearly didn't practice enough, he wasn't even bleeding!
Justice for the trombone soloist, he played a really great solo and he got a little clap and the sax soloist got a big applause when they both had good solos. Overall the whole band did really great for being in highschool.
I bet when everyone cheered so loudly for the alto saxophone solo the trombone soloist was like
" Am I a joke to you?".
Aljay's WorkSide tenor*
that was a tenor sax
thats a funny looking neck for an alto sax
Ambitious song especially for a high school. It's great seeing students really putting themselves in a position to improve and give a challenging piece their all.
Bruh if they played ice nine, the trombone soloists would've died
Omg, take a chill pill, now everyone appears to be a jazz master because they saw whiplash 2 times. Most of you dream about being half as good as the drummer from this video, just a reminder, it is a JAZZ HIGHSCHOOL BAND AND THEY FREAKING KILLED IT!! Stop being so all high and mighty and enjoy the effort they put into their music.
Exactly!!!! Music is the finest language known to man and these 15-18 year olds are almost fluent yet these people think they’re high and mighty because they saw whiplash and la la land it’s ridiculous
As a musician for more than 7 years I think they bit off more than they could chew. I'm not saying they played like crap but it wasn't very good in my opinion. The drums were aggressively loud and the sax solo did not fit the mood of the song. Other than that I though it was good.
@@Fl_Broccodile i fully agree
I agree with you, but who are you arguing with, I havnt seen anyone say they sounded bad yet
Are you upset?
Holy shit, the drummer at the start was rushing faster than sonic
no everyone else was dragging
@@max-ex2el how is everyone dragging when he's the only one playing
@@hibakata HAHAHAGAHA
it’s his tempo, and he wasn’t rushing
NOT MY FUCKING TEMPO
The bass player is having a great time
they all killed it. especially lead trumpet and drummer
This song is so dang catchy! Definitely a Jazz classic.
For a high school jazz band these guys KILLED IT!!! Also the balls these guys had to choose this piece, gotta love ‘em for the effort they put into this.
And the drummer was amazing!
*"Not quite my tempo"*
*"Not my fucking tempo!"*
Agree
It should’ve been fletchers tempo, and the trombone solo was wrong
@@ttran2ful that's called improv, my friend
My God you have a brilliant bassist.
Nobody gonna talk about the lead trumpet, he was incredible considering well HIGHSCHOOL, and that was the last song.
Man I was really anticipating the director to go up to the drummer with a mic and be like "what are you doing man?!" during the solo :D
As a high schooler who wishes he could play jazz (i'm an oboist lol), let alone as good as this group, this was AWESEOME!!!! A fantastic take on my favorite film ending of all time! Cheered and applauded alone in my basement as they all hit that final chord!! Truly awesome!!
the solo at 3:55 would have made JK Simmons swing a chair
That is exactly what the guy needs
At him?
@@Third_World937 yes
😂😂😅😅😅
The drummer needs to use his kick drum
You mean bass drum? 😂
rip to the other soloists that didn't get an applause
Very strong trombone section 💪
Im blown away. I wish I could have been there in person!
Love you John. Love you Swanson!
Trumpets were absolutely GREAT
The Lead trumpet 🔥🔥🔥
@@jacuhb8445 the lead couldn’t play very high. He was very good regardless
This has to be a "music concentration" Hight School, otherwise it's absolutely impossible to imagine playing like this with only 2 or 3 simple music classes a week! The playing of all you young folks is simply outstanding! That's some serious bandleading there mister! Cheers from Montréal Québec!
Rafik Mankarios - Drum Studio My brother goes to this high school and in this band this school year and it is not a music concentrated high school. It is just a normal high school with Jazz band and concert band
@@saxo_studio you know he was joking right
Yeah, I just r/wooosh(ed) myself
Absolutely awesome!
4years ago...where they now? I hope they all continued playing. Very good!
where is the blood in the drum??
The drummer absolutely murdered it he is incredible
Absolutely phenomenal performance
God they killed this. Coming back to this rendition from now on when I’m not watching the movie
wonderful musicians! Enjoyed this a lot.
Holy crap that drummer was impeccable
This was AMAZING
Love that bell ride.
This brings me back to when colony high school from Alaska visited you guys back in the day !! Still bringing the talent G harbor ! 💪🏾
Perfeito!!
so good omg!
Best one on RUclips yet
glad to know this is my high school doing this good
i love how when he was doing the drum solo, the camera focuses on the guitarist smirking and stuff. 😂
Awesome piece! Such a joy to be there in person! Soloists...just wow.
Most fucking insane breathtaking shit I’ve seen all day
HOLY SHIT yall are absolutely killing it 🔥🔥🔥
*drum solo starts*
*Pans to the fucking band director sitting in the chair*
bruh
that lead trumpet is on sum else..
sheesh smooth transitions
so good
Foi do CARAL… incrível
The end was perfect
This is WHIPLASH the prequel
Nailed it
Lmao everyone out here with high expectations because of the rendition in whiplash
And I agree fletcher would drum their asses back to Nassau
Where they can flip pages until they graduate or just drop out :D?
this exceeded my expectations
insanely good from everyone there
Very cool!
Bravo!
Can we talk about the smile on the guy in front of the kit?
watching this late but this was amazing
Great job
Are y'all serious that was incredible, very nice job!
Nice job!!
Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I hope all of these musicians got free rides to musical college if they pursued it.
bravo!!
That was amazing and even tho it wasn't the best I could still feel they put there heart and soul into there instruments and that's all that matters.
Not y'all comparing a real band to a movie.
Stand up ovation ❤
Was not expecting the trumpeters to be that good for this song in particular
why is the drummer not at the front
We had this by Ellington on a 78 !!!!
SICK DRUMMER EVEN DID THE SOLO!
不堪入目
Dangggg dude those trumpet had some crazy vibrato
he killed that solo that was fucking amazing
If Fletcher would be there... Rip
What arrangement did you guys use, it sounds incredible
daniel Q-N John Wasson Arangemenr
Lol oh gosh them solos killed me... poor guys...they did good tho
these guys could potentially be 15 years old and it’ll be one of their first few performances they killed it
Best trombone solo ever
That trombone solo was piss poor
@@barrington2716i mean the other solos werent really that outstanding tbh
the girl on the right was so happy this was happening!!! lol. damn this came out when i graduated.... im old now :(
Caravan is a tough piece to play with any arrangement. The drummer is proper👍🏾
at any moment he would throw a chair at him
holy moly the bass player is popping off
Not quite on my tempo. Lol
The fact they included the end drum solo was great!
But why they kept the drummer in the back...knowing that he had the big finish..made no sense.
They were all on fire 🔥 🤩🤩
Andrés No they weren’t and you know this
ChronicleRayray “and you know this”😭
@@chroniclerayray6393😭😭☠️
trombone killed it, heat solo
Damn that low brass nailed it
…
I invite those who are critical of this excellent arrangement to post their own, better one.
They fucking killed it
Now thats my tempo!
nah the trombone deserves some more respect for that solo
Rushing!!!!!!!
Blud was popping off holy
9:20 Tear up that kit dude you're graduating in a month! lmao
oh my god guys you fucking killed it.
Is not my tempo, but i like it, great guys
“dragging, just a hair.”
Where's the double A from lead trumpet at the end
Demasiados desafinos.
