- Is a peep really necessary for shooting a bow accurately? I did some testing to find out. I removed the peep and in this video, I'll talk about what I did to ensure a consistent anchor point and if I was able to shoot consistent groups.

I’m only 42 but grew up shooting fingers, no sights (huge fan on the Fitzgeralds), then around 14-15 added a release and pin but no kisser , no peep .
I'm strictly a hunter and have never used a peep until last year. It was great target shooting where I had all the time in the world and plenty of light. Come half way through the hunting season I took it off and threw it down the side of the mountain. Absolutely not needed.
Good video. I started with target recurve and tried compound several years later. When I purchased the compound I found the peep sight annoying so I removed it. No issues with accuracy sans-peep. Consistent anchor and form was already well ingrained from my recurve experience.
It is possible with practice to not only shoot with out a peep site but to also shoot accurately without a sight at all.
Cant wait to try it !
I’ve been doing this for 10+years. Great video I couldn’t agree more.
The last 5 years I have been hunting traditional equipment. Been pretty successful. With that I am going back to my compound. I have developed a really bad target anticipation. To the point it was hard to group at 20yards. Watched this video. I pulled my peep and without a circle around my sight housing I only focused on the pin and the target. I was able to settle and not feel like I had to punch to my the shot. Great video thanks for the tips.
I run a peep with an EZV bowsight. Awesome how much it opens up your sight picture. You can shoot and arrow and literally watch the arrow fly down the center of the V and hit the target. Pins blocks so much arrow flight and ill never go back.
I use a kisser, without a peep. It's the same idea as Olympic Recurve
Thank you so much this helped me a lot!
I’ve never understood why anyone uses a peep sight, you can move your anchor point a substantial amount and still see through the peep. That causes you to be inaccurate. Just use your anchor point and understand that it is critical
Awesome video! I haven’t bow hunted the last two year because of sight problems when using a peep. I am Whitetail hunter on the east coast, I practice at 50 and 60 yards, but a 30 yard or less shot is average out here. I have been kicking around ideas to get myself back in a tree. Your video has given me hope for the 2020 fall season. 👍👍
Great video, I’ll give it a shot
I like it , have that old style tube peep still maybe change it up b4 season starts
What you need is proper form i have never used a peep sight or a release aid, fingers with a tab . Form, Form and practice, practice. 😊😊😊😊 end of lesson.
Great video! Thank you! I shoot one of my bows with no peep and a one pin sight. It's new for me but I wanted to test it out. I'm getting used to it and can hit very tight groups with no peep. I haven't tried it long range yet but seems to work great so far out to 40. Like you said the sight picture is really big now.
Thanks for the info
Great vid man. I started shooting without peep seven years ago. First time with an hindsight then with an anchor sight but right now i dont need these devices anymore. Youre right three anchor points fix all issues. The only thing i do different is i see to the left of string. In this way i dont need tilt my head too far right. Thanks for the extra advices sr
A couple late season, snow on the ground, low light, shot opportunities where I struggled aligning my peep has me thinking I need to shoot peepless. Thanks for the video an peace from Nor Minnesota.
I shoot without one. Just use a serving wrap for a reference to my sight
