    Here again replacing my oil pressure sensor. DO NOT cheap out on a crap sensor always get OEM parts whenever possible.

    So I broke my wire connector black little pin thing while trying to remove it on the sensor,,, can I still work if I put it back on and hold it in place with some tape ??

    • @mdzautomotive
      @mdzautomotive  3 года назад

      If you mean the actual plastic piece on the wire harness that makes it lock in place, then yes it should still work. Although if you tape it the heat from the engine may possibly melt the adhesive over time and cause it to come undone then the vibration when driving would slowly cause the wire harness to slip out bc you're missing the little locking clip part that keeps it in place! This is just a theory though..🤔

    • @allloyd9917

      @@mdzautomotive that’s awesome.. I am going to attempt this on my truck, any possible chance I can do it without taking out the entire engine I’m limited on everything

    • @mdzautomotive
      @mdzautomotive  2 года назад

      You dont need to take out the entire engine. This video is actually the 2nd time I did this because the first time (which I also did a video on) worked but the sensor went bad again a few weeks later. But in that video I did the bare minimum removal of parts and just replaced the oil pressure sensor alone. So check it out if you have time. Now if you want to do the wire harness splice like I did in this video you will have to remove the intake manifold there is no other way around it..

    Lesson for life: If your sensor is failing and you have already changed it several times do yourself a favor and change the connector first. Don't ask me I know why I say it.

      @@mdzautomotive since I bought my truck this sensor works only occasionally, I changed it 3 times without success!! I changed the oil pump pick-up tube o-ring, the oil gallery plug, the stepper motor behind the gauge, nothing worked. I never changed the connector because it looked good, I could read voltage across the terminals. One night (annoyed) I changed the connector and voila! it worked again, almost 500 bucks (plus blood and sweat) and the problem was a $6 piece. Many people leave this gauge dead and don't know how important it is. Oil and temperature are the life of any gasoline engine.

      Mines currently back at the shop getting the connector replaced abs he has to pull the intake! As he said he’s to fat to get to the wiring lol! But her after $3000 in repairs already the first time it was there what’s another $100 lol! First time was Timing chain and tensioner, front cover gasket, oil pan gasket, oil cooler line gaskets, rear main seal, engine mount, oil pump and pickup, two front hubs, two suspension lever sensors, two sway bar end links, water pump and the oil pressure sensor!
