      That’s because they aren’t as small and vulnerable as they were when they were kids. They’re adults now, and you could tell in their reactions. Even the way they react to the door scene is exactly how an adult would react in this situation. Fucking great movie

      @@Trill_Tour They had stupid ass jokes in the first one too. The young kid swearing every ten seconds was a bullshit, unfunny, unrealistic dialogue trope, but it still had more dread than the second. And it's because adults know how to handle situations better than a fucking child, but sure dude. Yeah man.
      It's the same setting, same villain, same situation but they grew up. *That's* why it isn't a darker tone. Throw an adult in a dark basement and a 10 year old kid in a dark basement and they will have very different reactions.

      eric garcia horrible execution is why. In the book, King is a master of suspense, but this adaptation couldn’t afford this luxury, but even so the miniseries handled the Three Uninvited Guests part much better; I don’t understand why Bowers didn’t critically injure Mike, like he did in the book, nor why most of the conflict and even the climax takes place in the daytime, as this really hurts the tone.

      There is a correlation between fun/laughing and scares, it’s why people like rollercoasters. It’s why Return of the Living Dead is a masterpiece. It’s why the chair scene in The Thing is awesome. The only part I didn’t like in this was the Paul Bunyon scene. I wasn’t scared by either movie, I was there for the clown and both delivered some freakishly weird scenes that were worth my time. The kids in the first one were constantly ribbing each other and it was repeated in the second movie, but they were now adults..and one was a stand up comedian.

The funny parts weren't overly done but when it was trying to be funny it did great. This movie had it all the emotion, the horror, the action, the thrill, the comedy and much more. I couldn't ask for more. I had a fun time. Definately better than most modern day horror movies. Great acting plus everyone has an important role in some form. The death scenes were gruesome as I expected. Definately go check it out if you enjoyed the first one.

      Imo this film was pretty good in the first half but the other half was boring and predictable af. Some cringes also found its way into the "reunion scene" at the very end. All of my friends, including me, were disappointed. (SPOILER ALERT) The plot itself didn't make sense, especially "how to kill Pennywise". They built the hype up in the first half and then just smashed it with TOO many repetitive scenes that don't even scare anyone. The irony in this film was how they talk about that guy who always writes books with bad ending but now they just imply it to themselves. 5.5/10 for me.

    While I do agree that the film felt inconsistent with it's pacing, I think the point of the film (as well as this section of the book) is to emphasize the importance of memories and how we grow from trauma. There is a line Pennywise says towards the end (his exact last line) that I feel emphasizes the growth that some of these characters have gone through. This film is from an adult perspective looking back on their past and re contextualizing it from a new pair of glasses. Certain actions we did as kids (especially with Bill) ring differently as adults. While the theme is not too heavily emphasized, it is something that should still be noticed. And for me, the pacing didn't fully affect my experience. I do agree with the ADR thing though as well as some of the CG.

    I honestly have to say I really enjoyed this movie as I watched it last night. Not so much as a Horror Movie (although there were some legit creepy moments) but more as a Comedy. The whole theater was laughing half the time. And it really seems that's what the filmmakers wanted to achieve (for whatever reason)

    • @RoseEyed
      @RoseEyed 5 лет назад +4

      Exactly! I think part of the "problem" is that people came to this film wanting a replica of the original, but the themes are different in each film and so the films themselves are different to. The first one was about conquering your fears. This one was about "learning to accept the past." So horror isn't the focus as much as sadness, regret, nostalgia, and forgiveness (along with comedy to balance both).

      @the kelly gang Chris can spoil things for me. If he talks about an ending and thinks he's being vague, or a twist in the movie, I can still usually piece it together. So whenever I see a review of his is over 8 minutes I avoid it til after because I know he's going to talk about certain things. This time I still watched because I read most of the book.

    Just saw IT Chapter 2. Although I agree with Chris on many reviews, I believe in this case his critique hat was interfering with his enjoyment and suspension of disbelief.
    Case in point, he said the fears of the children weren't sold by the adults. Particularly with James McAvoy. If he's mentioning James McAvoy, the actor, by name, that mean Chris Stuckmann wasn't sold at all with his performance as Bill. Second, what planet is Chris born on where he believes all adults have to have let go the fears they carried as children? There are plenty adults in the real world who haven't properly dealt with their fears and horrors they experienced from the past,, and I felt that Pennywise successfully exploited that even more than when they were kids in the first chapter. .
    The things that bothered him like the CGI didnt bother me prolly cuz I was way more immersed in the characters instead of the nit picking like he was doing with his critics hat on.
    Maybe if he sees it again to just enjoy it, he might feel differently. I give this film an A- (for little shorter run time).

    • @leonardogonzalez5016
      @leonardogonzalez5016 5 лет назад +7

      I think after a certain point in a critics career they tend to have no suspension of disbelief since they can see all the tropes or obvious things that are going to happen because of camera angles. Which is why some websites or critics tend to have a third party or something to show if audiences will like it or will critics like it (and any bias may tip one end or the other)

    • @carrymycross6523
      @carrymycross6523 5 лет назад +11

      I agree. When he talks about the child - > adult fears, he almost speaks as if it comparable to when a child is afraid of a vacuum cleaner, but this is traumatic events. The Losers fought an inter-dimensional being that feeds on humans, and tortures them with fear slowly before they're killed. That's a traumatic event on a scale that's incomparable. Of course you're still going to be afraid of Pennywise. Plus, most of the Losers club, its not just phobias, they had deeply traumatizing events that they never had to deal with , because once they moved, they literally just forgot everything.
