My mum and I speak fluent German because we live in Germany and overheard a couple of Germans shittalking Americans while we were on vacation in Orlando. The four generation family had such an amazing reaction with the guy, i can't believe it! Asking him to eat with them even though he was being a huge jerk. They still treated him with kindness that he clearly didn't deserve. So proud of those people! Amazing people!!

I thought that was absolutely incredible! They really wanted to CHANGE the guy's attitude. I know it's not for everyone and I don't think I would be doing that, but IT IS the BEST POSSIBLE THING you could do because you would be trying to change someone so that he or she wouldn't be doing it later on with someone else.

As a waitress, in my early 20's, I will never forget the time two years ago when I had a customer behave so rudely to me because I put their order in wrong and somebody had put sweet tea in the regular tea pitcher that I used. Like I was crying in the freezer over the things this man yelled at me, embarrassing me in public like that. I will never forget the couple next to that table who asked for the manager at the host stand to come to my aid and speak up for me. I will never forget that.
If you're questioning whether or not you should do something about something that makes you uncomfortable, do it. It will most likely have a great impact on the life of the person you are helping.

As a waitress of two years I can say that this happens a lot. You can have that order absolutely perfect and some people will still find something to complain about.

I mean mistakes happen, you’re working a job where you’re expected to do everything right the second you do it and you can’t argue or complain bc “the customer is always right” well the customer is not always right like why don’t people who like to complain about orders and how they got it wrong try cooking that meal themselves and see how “easy” cooking really is, in fact why don’t they work in the service industry and make 100+ of orders in a single day

The waiter just wrote down a classic burger so he did nothing wrong. The customer wasa just being difficult.

To be completely honest I usually do tell the waiter if they get something wrong with my order but I am actually polite and I don’t verbally attack them. That’s just inappropriate.

I've worked as a waiter for about 2 years before I made a career change. I've learnt that often people truly reveal their real personality by how they behave in a restaurant and the way they treat waiters/waitresses. Hence why waiters/waitresses are good at reading people.

“The customer is always right.” But that doesn’t mean anyone can insult a waiter for messing up meal order.

I mean, 3 times. In this case, the customer is right. But the way he vent out, being obnoxious, was wrong. Nobody deserves to have their dignity stripped away from them. Sensitivity is really important. Hate the service? Tell the manager, don't announce it to everybody.

I feel like everyone, at some point in their lives should work in customer service (cashier, waiter, etc.) It really puts into perspective as to what some of these people have to deal with, and it helps you deal with "slow" service with more patience and compassion

I just totally loved that family with a little girl. They politely took a stance for the waiter but were also considerate that the young guy could be having a really bad day and even invited him over to sit with them. Not only it can belong to someone else, but if you order coke(which is cheaper) but you get orange juice, and when you pay your food it's written coke, who do you think get disadvantage here, and who get advantages here. If they found out that this is because one of the waitress he can get fired.

I have many food allergies. From dairy to seafood. So going out to eat is very hard. The older waiters and waitresses always seem to care more and take better precautions for my allergies while many of the younger quicker servers could care less.
My best friend and her siblings have those problems. It sucks, it really does. (Food allergies, that is)

WWYD did a segment when a teen guy had a peanut allergy, and his 'friends' make fun of him. With him gone, the 'friends' crush the peanuts and placed them in his milkshake. NO ONE held back.
I respect older people in the service industry along with every other physical job. The world is changing and there will be a lot more of this .

Exactly, most young people don’t bother the elderly and are considerate. A lot of elderly people take advantage of their age and they get away with many things. For example, I work at a restaurant and some elderly people always try to get things for free. They make a $15 order but want us to give a $7 dish to them no cost

Jett Green I see where you're coming from. But usually for me, if someone messes up my order, I'll be thinking, oh no not again. But in his case, he's throwing insults at the waiter and poking fun at his age and everything. That's what he's doing wrong. I worked as a Waitress during my high school and whenever I messed up people's order, people usually just told me that it was okay and that they're glad I informed. That's what he should've done. I know not everyone will have the patience, but sometimes it's all about respect. I'm sure half of the people who told me it was okay and that they're glad I informed are not entirely pleased with the situation, but it's the mutual respect that counts.

The actor playing the waiter seemed so sweet. I felt so bad for him. I wanted to give him a hug. I can't stand people who are rude to the elderly simply because they may move more slowly or be forgetful. Don't let the fact that you're younger than them make you an arrogant ass, because youth doesn't last forever. Someday, we're all going to be old.
