Damn it I wish Wild was still with us so I could write to him and tell him how brilliant his arrangements are. Your excellent analyses emphasise that further It took me months to learn Gershwin’s own 2 page setting, I’m never going near this one ! Cole do you play these from memory or use music ? Great video, very agile performance (how many takes , go on, we are all friends here …). Awesome work “Move across country” you’re moving again !! 😮
Well, the piece certainly lives up to its title! This is my favorite of the Gershwin/Wild etudes I've seen from you so far. I know you said the sixteenth notes in the waltz section aren't as hard as they sound, but that really isn't saying much! Fantastic job!
A M A Z I N G ! Virtuoso playing way beyond super, Cole! Your analysis was informative (the text was good, though not a patch on seeing you!) - but your performance was dazzlingly stupendous! Earl Wilde's arrangement is testament to his genius and the sheer exuberance of the original Gershwin. I hope the cross-country move went well . . . but it won't have had anything like the excitement and pizazz of this Etude!
Knew him well and recorded all his etudes and his Porgy…. Great job !
Bravo! Infectious fun.

He certainly was! Thank you for watching

Glad you liked it! Yeah, you can never believe the Waltz section is possible until you actually manage to play it :-)
