Nothing beats the sound of a hopper out hopping and chirping around outside! I am glad you had a great time with it and you are definitely not the first to loose a wheel nut on the maiden run of car! LOL! It was really cooking out there!
So true, I’m hoping my son will like it so much that I’m put in a situation that I “have” to add the original grasshopper and a hornet to my collection as well! That wheel nut coming off was just a reminder to not have too much fun with it because I went alone and my son wants to drive it too! I’m very impressed with how quick the sport tuned was moving it along it. Idk maybe the battery I used was a 2s lipo - it’s in a hard case and says li-ion on the box but I had originally thought it was a lipo until I saw a video of someone opening the case up and it was a li-ion. Idk either it was fun and quick and I can’t wait to get back out there with it!
Yeh too bad these cars were amazing in the 80's but to put this out in 2023 as it come out without any modern upgrade other than a collector piece and be this overpriced is insane honestly...
@@maszkalman3676 I get it but Tamiya has such a large following that they don’t need to. It would be nice if there were some upgrades other than throwing in an esc but I still love the charm of these buggies!
@@maszkalman3676 folks have been buying them since they were released and they continue to sell. Not everything needs to be 3s and brushless to be enjoyable. Building RCs is enjoyable in its own right. The great thing about the hobby is there is something out there for everyone.
@@AddamsPlayground It's not about 3s or brushless the same brittle plastic still very bad shocks these should be upgraded from the box and make it better and don't put out a straight from 80's car for 300+ bucks right now. I watched other vidoes about it the peopels who had these in their childhood said this car has the same problems as the 80's cars had brittle plastics the gears are literal trash eat each others up the brushed motor if you use it max 2 months or overheats and melt the plastic aronud it. Bad shocks but i said that already. So it's not about pwoer and new batteries this is a flawed product from the 80's with no upgrades and sold for a markup....
Almost sounds like the car can’t keep up with the power ripping through it lol - looks awesome!
Thanks Freddy! So what you are saying is the wheel fell off because it’s too fast not because I didn’t tighten it down lol
lol - ummmm...yes...yes..that's what I'm saying 😉@@BargainBashersRc
@FastFreddyRC haha 😆 if only it were true
@@BargainBashersRc lol
Dang that thing looks fast!
It certainly feels fast!
Great vid buddy, how good does that go with a sport tuned motor, it's my go to motor for these cars.... so much fun 😃👍
Thank you! It goes very well with the sport tuned, I was blown away!
Great vid bro. Looks like fun with a bunch of possibilities
Thanks man! I’m still blown away at how quick it is with a sport turned motor! As of right now I’m not sure if I’m going to change anything because I had too much fun driving it!!
@@BargainBashersRc that’s the only thing that matters bro. Keep up the good work
Thanks man! Plus I have something kind of in mind I guess, I have another kit in the hopper family to build with a difference motor so kind of my way of experimenting with Tamiya motors even though the buggies are slightly different
@@BargainBashersRc cool. I may build another kit soon. Might go off road kit because they just seem more fun
They definitely have a lot of fun off road options! I know when I had my super hornet as a kid I had gotten both off-road and on-road wheels and tires so that’s always an option too! I definitely would suggest on of the hoppers because they are just a lot of fun but I’ve heard great things about the majority of Tamiya kits! I think if you wanted something a little more performance driven the racing fighter & neo fighter are more of a budget friendly performance buggy!
Great Video!
What battery were you using ?
Thank you! I’m just using a 1500 mah lithium ion that came with one of my Amazon cars
@@BargainBashersRc Well I'm up for new batteries, so might have to try one out !
I have 3x original Grasshopper 2 Super G's I've collected over the years, after seeing your videos, I'm looking forward to getting them out & cleaning them up, rebuilding ect...
My original one I bought when I was a kid has copped such a beating, I need to replace the chassis & the gearbox housing... LOL
Oh and get used to it rolling over like it side many times in this video, it was alway my pet hate about the grasshopper!
Its those skinny front wheels that cause the roll overs, goold reason to try avoid the driving it on the road, as the asphalt will take that decals out super quick ! LOL
@@danotten3344 yeah I was only planning a quick run in the road to do a speed test and after that back straight to the grass haha! I’ve heard ovonic, zee and gens ace make good batteries but I have not tried any of them out as of yet. Glad to hear you are hoping to get yours tuned up and back in action, they are so much fun to drive!!
