- The Chevrolet Corvette Z06 C6 was first introduced in 2005 with a theoretical top speed of 198 mph. This model year Corvette Z06 was the first year the ZR1 badge was revived by Chevrolet, making this model no longer the king of the hill. Even though the Z06 badge was being out shined by the new ZR1 platform, this corvette was still a tremendous automobile and nothing to sneeze at when it came down to power numbers and lap record's.
In this test video you can see the Z06 aggressively accelerate up to about 165 mph and then slowly pull towards that 207 mph top speed shown in the video.

You could try doing drag races,just saying. It would probably be the first channel on drag race cars in the 2 miles so people can actually see more than the 1/4 mile

That facility is not really the place to do stuff like that. There is an entire background check process for getting onto KSC so that may could cut out a big crowd of people/drivers. Even though the Shuttle is long retired, is still very active with NOAA flights, flight testing missions, SpaceX support and every satellite that gets launched from KSC comes in on a C5 Galaxy or other cargo plane landing at that runway. Any mess that would be made would need to be cleaned up immediately, this also means no burnouts, no track prep, as any damage to the concrete would be a costly and immediate repair. The public is fortunate that this facility is able to be utilized for special proposes as long as all the rules and regulations are followed.

My 2009 C6 Z06 makes around 550whp, so I'm sure I'd hit 200mph easily, I just need a runway here in socal to test it 😭
The 405fwy would work too at 3am.
Pretty sure a stock c6z can reach 200. Just make sure u replace the factory heads before u even consider going anywhere near redline since all c6z are known for valve drop issues with stock heads.
C6 Z06's have to be one of the best performance bargains in the used car market right now. There are a few for sale in my area right now with under 15k miles in the low $30k price range. C5 ZO6's with similar mileage aren't much cheaper. And early to mid nineties ZR1's are just about in the same price range as the C6 Z06's.

Just make sure u replace the factory heads and a full inspection of the engine. Because all c6z's are known for valve drop issues on the factory heads.
Still see clean examples going around 38k with 30-40k miles. But expect to pay around 45k + for 15k miles or less.

Great video, like always! Quick question... What did you use to for the speed readout? Is that the speedometer reading or a GPS or something else?

The display on the videos is from a Garmin GPS. All timing though is performed by the International Mile Racing Association using Tag Heuer equipment.

But it wasn't stock. The car that IS stock that hit 300mph, is the Chiron SS.
@@retrokingranch The version of the Chiron SS that hit 300mph isn't available to buyers yet. The Ford GT was the first street legal vehicle to do 300mph, and a Ford GT is a hell of a lot more obtainable than a Chiron.

That things moving but I timed it against my factory ZR1 with GPS and its exactly the same somehow....how? I was under the impression HCI cars were significantly faster. My only data point is 92-186 and it's identical down to a couple tenths. And this ones 2 seconds slower 150-180.
is this 575rwhp on a dyno jet or mustang dyno? just curious, trying to get an idea where i put my H/C Z on a top speed run.

People say this all the time, but I can't find video proof. I highly doubt they can, so i'll believe it when I see it.

The zo6 would kill that car stock for stock, a 4,000 pound car with 500 crank vs a 3,100 pound sports car with 505. Come on lol. Zo6 traps 9mph faster in the 1/4 too. Which is huge.

Great vídeo! Here is an ideia: maybe it’s possible to add on the screen the distance as the car goes. So we can follow the increase in speed knowing the distance remaining to the end of the tests.

No. The Z06 didn't do 600hp. The ZR1 is the one that did 638hp.
@@retrokingranch read the specs. it says 575whp. That means at around 15% drivetrain loss its 660hp to the crank.
@@retrokingranch Katech Stage 2 kit with the right cam on a C6 Z06 will make 660hp at the crank.
660 hp is pretty damm good for na. You're first mod should always be new heads on the c6z, since factory heads are known for valve drop issues on all c6z's.
