In 2020, Lingenfelter Performance Engineering charged me $1800 for a CNC port, install new valve guides, competition valve job, new GM LS7 exhaust valves, and new springs. Shipping was extra. Just get a competent machine shop to knock out the guides, hone the new ones to 0.0015-0.0018” stem to guide clearance and bolt them back on. Problem solved. Guess what? You can’t buy a Chevrolet Performance LS7 block or complete engine anymore so don’t take a chance with dropping a valve. You don’t want to be that sucker driving around a Z06 with a 5.3 or 6.2 block in it because you didn’t get the damn heads fixed.
Seen 2 of those "LS3 swap" Z06's here locally on the used market.
@@drewmorg. Yep. More than likely a proper valve job would have prevented total engine destruction.
I'm now contemplating having you build me a motor. It took 3 people to install a battery 😂😂😂
Thats a really nice car and hard to find not unmolested clean Z06, I would do the heads and call it done.
You nailed the "this" part of the Doug impression haha
Do the heads to prevent that dropped valve syndrome
I’m very sure he’s going to be doing a lot more than just the heads lol
@@vette2763 I mentioned that seeing how he’s doing donuts and burnouts. Once that valve goes south, it all could’ve been prevented. Not laughing.
@@regsmith7604I don’t think he’s going to be ragging on the car very much more while it’s stock. I do understand valve guide wear is an issue, but a few donuts isn’t going to be the end of the world. I doubt it’ll be stock for long anyways. Not sure why it seems I struck a nerve…
@@vette2763 You’re triggered
@@regsmith7604 lol have a good night
Excited to see the build!!
My dream car my budget a 99 Z28 the Trailer park cousin 😂
Go ahead and get a tick performance clutch master cylinder. Just bought a 2008 19k mile C6 Z06 two months ago and the OEM one gave out after 5 days
Best corvette chassis ever made
Vales, Guides, Jessel Rockers, New Pushrods/Lifters, BTR 10,000 RPM Camshaft, Larger Throttle Body and DONE. Maybe some other Cylinder head work, add a bit of compression ratio and call it a day. More than enough power N/A to have a ton of fun with an already stout package that needs very little. Congrats on the new ride.
Nice! This is gonna be a blast to follow.
Just got done going down the battery drain issue. Fix was pulling the onstar fuse and a dc power alternator and a new agm battery
I never thought of pulling the Onstar fuse to help with the battery drain issue on these cars. Mine historically was always questionable after sitting for 10-14 days MAX. It never occurred to me the Onstar is possibly the big draw. I'll have to figure out what fuse that is and see if it helps. One big upgrade I made this year was the battery, and it was a cheap one at that! I took my old battery out (3 years and it was toast after being charged up and down so many times) and brought it down to Walmart to grab a replacement. While I was there, I noticed another "MAX" battery on the shelf that was the same size, but about 3/4"-1" taller, although it had an additional 200 cca. It was even a little cheaper. Since putting that battery in, I have not had a single issue starting the car, even after a couple of weeks, and not one "slow" start when the engine is heat soaked. Total game changer!!! The only two negatives was the terminals were on the other side (but the cables still reached), and the factory hold-down no longer fit. While it would be possible to fab up a new hold-down, I didn't bother yet as the battery is obviously very secure in the factory location, and the cables would prevent it from falling out if it the car were upside down... and honestly, I'd already have big issues if that were the case anyway, lol! Oh, and the battery "flap" still closes with the taller battery, although it's close. But that change has been such a huge improvement over the factory size batteries I've always used, regardless of brand or price!
I'll definitely look into finding the OS fuse if that helps the sitting drain issue also!
Which fuse is the onstar one?
@@lifeonmars03 On the C6 its in the passenger foot well. the fuse box panel tells you which one its a red 10 amp mini fuse.
@@ssoffshore5111 For me it was 6 or 7 days which turned into 2. Well see how long it last over the winter im driving to much now during the summer to see.
@@ssoffshore5111 the battery drain on C6 Corvettes is terrible and a major pain in the ass.
Congratulations on the car, cant wait to see what you do to it!!!
Ive had 2 99 FRCs and have owned an 08 Z06 for the last 10 years. Its one of the only cars ill actually keep forever. HCI really wake them up depending on the cam you go with - i was able to get a 9.9 @ 141 out of mine.
One of best cars period! Heads cam package coming up! Order up Race proven motorsports B3 camshaft and u can make 620whp plus!! She's beautiful man! Chevrolet all day!!🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲💪💪💪
Please find a larger parking lot to do your stunts before you wad that car up.
U were the first person to do a burnout in that car she wasn't ready for that but now she knows who's master
show us to prevent or fix the valve drop problems lol .. and congratulation beautiful ride
Replace with good aftermarket heads! You can "fix" the factory heads, but I've still seen those fail as well many times. The safest way to address them is go aftermarket heads IMO.
Nice Z06! Are you planning on running to a set of rules? CAM S or a GridLife, open track or such?
Got a sub from me. I'd love to see this build and what you have planned for it. Thanks for posting.
Congratulations
Holy‼️Jacob finna turn it into a monster.😂
Congrats man! Clean beast 🔥
For alternator go with JS alternator 250amp ✌🏻
Love it glad to see u back in a vette
How 'bout this: 4.125" bore, 4.125" stroke, LSR block, F310 heads, 5-stage Dry sump system, solid roller valvetrain.....
You see where I'm trying to go ....
Awe man I’m gonna miss Ricky!! O well this is cool!
so why could it not go into the different driving modes? what was the reason?
Hope to see NA project
That's a way nicer version of my car lol
I'm curious what route you're going to take with the cylinder heads.
Is the drivetrain going to be for sale
Where did you find a black 2011?
The oem alternators absolutely hate high rpm’s. The donuts most likely sent it
Love the car. Hate the old fashioned head and taillights. Replace with LED’s
Watch those valve drops
Check your tire pressures.
I need that
I want it.
not front engine...
