C6 Corvettes will always hold a special place in my heart, timeless car
It's timeless, modern enough and old school enough. Beautiful as well.
what a machine❤
Took the words right out of my mouth
Its the last real Vette…
Also It also has a lower drag coefficient than the C7 and C8.
The way the tach and speedo move almost synchronously in second gear is so satisfying.
That car is a truly american icon
The last two generations of Z06 corvettes are arguably the greatest bang for your used car buck on the sports car market. So much light is cast the new vettes that people forget these are blisteringly quick cars for the money now.
Even c5 z06 for 20k are a steal. Much faster than the Porsche or BMW you could get for the same money.
ALL Corvettes are bang for your buck. LT1 C4s give you Type R performance for 10-15 grand.
The craziest thing about what you said, too, is that it's basically a toss up between a Z06 Corvette and a Camaro SS 1LE. GM's value per dollar in the sports car market is simply unmatched.
@@anthonyantoine9232 Been saying this. The SS was the best new car performance value on the market.
*Period.*
This will give a C8 Z06 a close run from a highway roll as well.
You hear that, auto manufacturers of today? 3100lbs AND a 7.0L under the hood. Those are fantastic numbers, with comparable and sometimes better p/w ratios than some modern sports cars. Chef's kiss.
The C6 is my childhood, by far my favourite corvette generation. Someone in my unit recently got a yellow c6 zo6 and it's gorgeous
I am not even American but I feel patriotism flowing through my veins because of that 427 ci all motor V8 🦅🦅🇺🇲🇺🇲
Same. It makes me what to forget what a kilometre is 🦅🦅🦅
@@tally5k339 I think one kilometere is like 4.3 euros at the current exchange rate. Who knows?
I have a regular C6 and agree that it is just a gorgeous design. This 427 one in blue is lovely. I’m also glad that you noticed the heavy clutch: my car’s clutch is also heavy.
The C6Z is one of the best car ever made, imo.
My brothers father in law used to have one of these, remember my first time meeting him he took me for a ride and did a few donuts and a burnout. I absolutely fell in love with the C6 Z06
With head work and an aftermarket cam, you can add 180-200 rwhp. These are insanely responsive to mods. I've had one for 5 years so far, extremely happy with it.
Will be remembered as an all time great. 7.0 N/A v8, lightweight
These are gonna continue to go up in value. As Monterey car week just proved 30s to 70s cars aren't as desirable anymore. The new enthusiasts want these types of cars.
Makes sense...those who lusted for even a 70's car are already probably in their late 60's...
As a Brit who loves AMGs, this is one of my favourite modern US sports cars. Raced one on the way to the Ring this weekend, in Germany. Sounded epic! And he loved my 55K too.
Big cubes, Manual, & light weight!
Love it. Bought one with 9k miles. Did the heads from AHP and let it rip all day long. Thing is an animal.
More of a Ford guy but these C6 Corvettes were nasty, the evolution from this to the ZL1 by itself is a hell of a feat
The profile of a C6 Z06 is just perfect. It was such a great design. Short deck, long hood, huge power, great sound and fast as hell. What a car!
there is a reason this is my favorite corvette, the colors, sound, interior, the curvy bodystyle, making it the perfect looking corvette to me
The interior was never really it's strong suit.
@@bveezy5246 I like how it looks tbh.
@sy3the384 that's what counts!
Meh it's the most boring looking imo. C4 and C5 have more character and look better. In terms of modern Vets I'd rather have the C7. More distinct stylistically
@@fallenstudent1103 i don't care. its my favorite corvette generation and that's that.
I am in the Netherlands and drive a original C6 Z06 dutch delivered, one of Seven. Real beast with 540 HP because of a few small upgrades.
C6 Z06 and ZR1 is all the sports car you need. I saw a picture of one parked next to a Ferrari 599 and the shape and proportions of both cars matched each other.
Everyone always misunderstands what the leaf springs are. This is NOT of model T suspension system. The suspension is a modern multi link suspension at all 4 corners. The only difference is that instead of a coil spring the springs are transverse leafs that span between each side. It’s just a more compact way to build a spring. The only difference is the type of spring, not the suspension itself.
its a joke.....
I like you enthusiasm about the possibility of engine failure of a Corvette being caught on live video. A true youtuber at heart
The c6 will forever hold a special place in my heart. Here and there I get to drive one of my buddies base models c6 with an n/a custom 454 lsx engine and built trans, that thing is something else, looks and sounds beautiful.
This has to be one of my favorite cars. Thank you for the review Tedward!
Same! Thanks for watching
As a kid growing up in the early 2000s these cars were everywhere in south Florida. I’ll never forget seeing my dads friend at Daytona speedway doing 200mph.
This generation and trim right here is THE Corvette to me
7 liters of FREEDOM
Love the scream of the LS7 ❤
One of the best looking rear-ends of any car. You know what it is instantly.
I drove my old Mazda on the Autobahn and a C6 ZR1 flew by me like im standing 😂 since then the C6 got a special place in my heart, the sound is raw and brutal!
And crazy how you can go over 100 km/h in the first gear. Just amazing and still affordable for "normal" people.
On of the best sounding V8 ever made.
I think GM did a recall on the valves, or they paid for it if you had it done third party.
Nope! GM couldn't give a crap about us Z owners. The class action suit failed in US and they laughed all the way to annual bonuses. Cost me about 6G CAD to have mine done, but at least I can trust it now.
If one car can be called iconic it would be this , that power to weight ratio for its era is insane and the pure raw power of a 7L NA V8. This car will always be one of my favourite cars ever made.
I will own one, one day! Such a solid car 🇺🇸😮💨🔥
Holding you to it!
Good luck, you'll love it! Got mine in 2013 and absolutely love it. They are as amazing as everyone brags them to be. Cheers from Canada.
GOAT Corvette
Definitely
Love the C6 Z06 one of my dream cars
Make it a reality, they are incredible cars :-)
I have a 850hp Mustang that i absolutely love, but the C6 Vette is a absolute badass car in every way!
I like how you knock on everything to show what materials they are. Trust but verify 🤜🏻
The body lines of the C6 have aged so well, especially compared against the modern edgy designs of the C7 and C8.
One of the best cars ever made, IMO. Aside from the interior and valve guide worries. Also this is my favorite color for the C6.
This one will be a big collectible one day - maybe another 10-15 years - people will be really looking for these
I remember when this car was new in 2006, they had a New Black Z06 in the Chevy dealer showroom and it was unlocked, so 14 year old me jumped in and closed the door. Tinted windows nobody could see me inside. It had 3.3 miles on it. And a button to start the ignition, so high tech atthe time for an American car. Literally they had just pulled it off the delivery truck and gassed it up.
I remember the msrp on the window sticker was $80,000 which was expensive back then.
this is the review i didnt know i needed! thank you tedward!!!! :)
Best Corvette generation ever made.
One of the best looking cars of all time - as well, one of the few cars that looks good in ANY colour.
best design of the modern corvettes.
I’ll never forget hopping on the highway to see a c6 z06 and a c6 zr1 going at it together. Best gen corvette hands down.
Yes!! Someone else who appreciates the C6. Absolutely my favorite modern corvette design. Can’t argue with the C8Z and that motor but C4,5,7 and base C8 are easy skips.
finally, my favourite corvette here. Ill buy you one day❤
I loved your comment about the failing valve. I'd absolutely click (even) quicker than I had for this video. #goals
I absolutely love this car. Especially in yellow. I think it is one of the best looking Corvettes.
I love the C6 Z06. The car fits like a glove!
The speedometer design really enhances the street experience.
I love how you blurred out this speedometer and the heads up display on the acceleration run! Very cheeky😂
9:22 “How did we get there?!” 😂😂
This is peak Corvette.
I’ve driven with these in my club with my R8 v10 manual. Was super impressed. Didn’t handle like my car but way better power to weight ratio. This is definitely the one I’m looking at to add to my collection. Amazing value for the performance. Thanks for sharing.
I have had 4 Mustangs, including my current weekend car, a 21’ GT PP1 premium in Ox White over Showstopper Red 6 speed. My dad had Lincolns. My sister had two FIVE OH’s. Our Class C 23’ Jamboree Ralleye when I was a kid was pushed by a 460 Econoline by Ford. Our dogs name is Shelby…
But I adore this car. This very car. For a brief 11 month stint during COVID when I was living apart from my family while working 2 states away, only seeing them on the weekends. I pulled the trigger and bought this exact car. 2007 C6Z in Lemans Blue with 21k miles. This was in June of 2021 and I got it for $43k. Had it shipped from San Diego. This car is a monster. First and only mod I did was brand new rubber. The tires had a date code from 2006 so needless to say to say the car needed tires and boy when I got them on, the car came alive. Straight MEATS in the back. I wanna say 335’s. It was $2100 to wrap all 4 corners but worth every penny. I enjoyed the heck out of this car and wish I had kept it. I sold it prior to moving back home after my time away had expired. It was a selfish purchase as I have 4 kids. But it was the time to do it and in the mid 40k’s you can’t find this much performance. When released in 06’ C and D and Motortrend ran it against the Ferrari 430 and the 911 turbo and the Vioer ACR. It roasted all 3. On a track, yes with curves. I wanna say it was VIR. Car is still a monster today and at its original release it must have been out of this world
A manual trans, a healthy V8, and a winding road is the best therapy for whatever ails you. Fond memories of my notchback 1989 5.0 Mustang with an 8 point cage, subframe connectors, spring and shock package and maybe 300HP. Not a Z06 but every bit as fun.
These are right proper. I think my love of Corvettes dates back to watching Clarkson rag a ZR1 around Nevada and at Bonneville.
Also I love that you have to blur both the speedo and the HUD
Man, I love the C6 Z06 and ZR1!
funny how i've been looking @ these recently and boom! u posted a video, thanks!
C6 is peak modern Corvette.. C2 overall. Love these C6Z’s but really wish you had the targa option on them. Want to hear more of that LS7.
"The Z06 Doesn't come in automatic"
Me using an automatic 2008 Z06 In NY traffic as a daily driver. 😂😂
Thanks RPMs! 🙏🏽
Did you swap an auto into it?
@@TedwardDrives No I purchased it like this sometime around holidays last year for 38K 20k miles, A company RPM Transmission does them, really common in the C6 scene so you'll see automatics on market often, It was actually a neighbor who let me give his a drive and convinced me.
This is one of my dream car. A late 2011-12 model would be perfect, if I had the dosh. Last true corvette before ugly C7, and fake C8.
Great video! Love your excitement about the car! Z06 is amazing!
Any of the C5, C6, or C7 are incredible cars for the money. Not just for the New Balance crowd.
New Balance is local here haha
C6 Z06 is one of my top 3
When the mph climbs as fast as the rpm ☠️💩
GM😭 that shi scary fast Torque in some GMs
The C6 and C7 models are the last of the good looking Corvettes, especially in Z06/ZR1 form. Never have been a fan of the C8.
Never gets old
These are my absolute dream car right now. Just an absolutely incredible amount of car for the money. Does anything else even come close?
Love the C6 Z06. Great video.
Funny seeing modern day reviews of this car and excitement the drivers have. It's timeless. It was fast then. It's fast now. Manual, 7L, high revving.
My absolute dream car. I absolutely love the original Z06 wheels and the leman blue paint.
The C6 Corvette is the perfect car, pure, raw, and brutal. Definitely get a C6 ZR1 to drive next 🔥
Imo the C6 ZO6 is the best Corvette ever produced. Hell maybe even the best American sports car ever produced. Everyone raves about the C6ZR1 but I’d much rather have the NA LS7 over the boosted 6.2. Beautiful example that I’d saw off my pinky finger with a rusty butter knife to own, lol!!
Keep saving, and keep your fingers :-) I did in atomic orange fashion. Sharp looking, fast and comfortable. Best wishes from Canada ehhh :-)
@@billmcmeekin7909 love the Atomic Orange.👌🏽🔥🔥
Beautiful Car, Both in looks, The engine and Sound
Ever since seeing the C6 in NFS MW it is a one of my dream sports cars. It is just so beautiful that I couldn't care less about how it handles or the build quality of the interior. This spec is also outstanding, the rims on this one are 11/10.
last Corvette that actually still looks like a Corvette. Beautiful colour also
Such a classic car! Awesome review Tom😊
The C6.R GT1 car got this engine too. Nasty Sound!
It looks amazing!
Awesome man! I would absolutely have that wrapped around a tree on the first drive!
Hahaha
that paint is gorgeous
My favorite Corvette ever made 👌
i recently sold my c6, was a base 3LT so it was fancy but not aluminum chassis fancy. zr1 body kit carbon hood and a zo6 front bumper. now onto the good stuff, it had a Tick built 6spd manual paired to a Thompson Motorsports 427 Gen4 LS3 sitting on Silvers coilovers and grand sport 22' wheels, absolute RIPPER on the road I'd let it eat for a split second on the highway and look at the HUD to see 140 and yet the car is as stable as it is at 30mph in town. They handle like an arrow in the straights and a slot-car in the corners its amazing, not to mention even with the low comp pistons and the massive custom grind cam all setup for a supercharger (car remained N/A) the stroked LS3 in it would get 30mpg ON A BAD DAY, usually id sit at 35-37 highway and about 23-27 city on a factory fuel system paired to a boost-a-pump. I ended up selling it because it was NOT a practical daily the way the car was set up however the car was a blast on the weekends going to shows and races, also the 2-step was an attention grabber and being a former c6 owner I'm sure you can guess how much I like attention to my cars lol, if your in the market for a good sports car around 40-50k or even way below to the 20-25k range you CANNOT beat the bang for your buck you can get out of corvettes, Camaro's, CTS-V's, and their captive import cars such as the Holden's rebadged in the states (G8, GTO, SS sedan, Caprice) plus much more of their cars, used to be a big ford guy but I mean GM offers budget friendly reliable power and performance you cant really beat and it can range from sporty trims of casual commuter cars all the way to supercar territory with the new and previous ZR1's
The best corvette for me
The speed of these things is insane. Even going from 30-60, which in my Mazdaspeed 3 would be a pull through 2nd and 3rd, this thing does it all in second gear and doesn't even hit redline. Wonderful video!
It goes 60 in first gear
Your videos are almost a form of therapy no joke, keep up the great work !
Thank you!
A windshield display in 2007? Wtf that’s cool as hell
That LS7 sounds so good especially when cammed
Great video, my favorite Corvette.
Would love to own a Z06, never saw one in Portugal and its super expensive to import one here, about.20 grand just in taxes....
Hopefully will get to pick up a c6 z sometime next year 🎉
Still my favorite Gen Vette.
The gearing is perfect
I am not a vette guy at all but these Z06’s are so cool. Absolute beast. ZR1 test drive next please !
The iconic lines of the C4 can be seen through the C7 models. This model, in particular, greatly resembles the C4 in the rear.
Exactly the same car and spec as the one my brother owned 10 years ago. What an animal!
It's so good ;-; I love displacement ;-;
I have a freaking 2016 toyota corolla, I would like to get a new car soon and def been keeping an eye out on these bad boys, I was for a long time a 2013-14 GT500 type guy but man this c6 has really been giving my interest a run
Craziest thing to me is how we went from the Z06 weighing 3100 pounds to the Z06 weighing almost 3800 pounds with more "advanced" weight saving tech available at a higher price point. We're officially at the point where the C8 ZR1 is going to be only about 180 pounds lighter than the original Hellcat Challenger. All the extra power is incredible but holy hell have sports cars become mega obese in the last 15 years.
Good eye Kevin! Most people don't realize how much weight effects feel. While my car only has 505 HP it's very nimble and agile feeling. Sure it's not the fastest but the feedback is amazing! Great cars, that have smooth strong visual and audible appeal out in the wild :-) Cheers.
Excellent post, it’s beyond insane how fat cars are now. These corvettes were the best of the drivers vettes, when it actually worked within its stated mission of a lightweight GT car.
