Very informative and useful video, doc. Just one thing though. The revised criteria for breaks in clinical practice are applicable in case of the Sponsorship route. If you read on, Annexure B states the following: Applicants with a break in practice within the last five years which does not align with the criteria at Annex A (mentioned in the video) may be able to demonstrate that they have mitigated the break by providing objective verifiable evidence that they have: Undertaken a substantive period of medical practice in another country. ''A pass in an objective medical test obtained within the three years prior to the application for registration (such as a pass in the PLAB test or passing the membership examinations for a UK Medical Royal College).'' Been awarded one or more relevant medical post graduate qualifications obtained within the three years prior to the application for registration. Meaning, a PLAB pass (or the other 2 points) outweighs the former :) Just trying to ease the minds of those with long clinical gaps.

You need a certificate of good standing and as I remember from a few years ago they needed an active license. So I imagine you might have yo renew the PMC license as well.

You can give your plabs without full pmc registration. However I am unsure about full gmc registration. Because they ask for a certificate of good standing. And as I recall from my time having a full pmc registration was a pre-requisite to apply for a certificate of good standing with the PMC.
I can't say for certain. But I believe it would be not employed as "studying" is not being done through an accredited university. For the most accurate answer you should call gmc. They would be able to help.

So, the gmc did not ask me to provide a document verifying my clinical work experience. They will let you know what exact documents they need for your specific circumstances. If you have engaged in non clinical work during the 5 years, then you will need a gen1 form signed by your employer. But don't worry about it. Wait for the GMC to send you an email with the documents they require.
Hi Pooja. That's an interesting question. I think the GMC would be the best people to answer that question. They are helpful if you just email them with your query. Generally speaking people already have a full license in their home country before registering for the GMC. I am not sure if being registered in your home country is a mandatory requirement. However they only asked me about house job certificates and certificate of good standing with the PMC. No other professional experience documents from the clinical job i was working. Well that depends on how you will be registering with the gmc. If you are using the mrcog to register then yes you should get it verified. Otherwise if you are using your plab results then no need to get the mrcog diploma verified.

You'll have to give a better reason than preparing for plab. The exam doesn't take that long to prepare for and will call to question your ability to study and work at the same time. If there were personal reasons behind the absence from work then openly share them. You just have to be honest.

Have your IELTs/OET result ready. Have evidence of what you have been doing to keep medically active ready. Like CPD courses, electives, medical jobs, research, or education ready. And start your gmc registration process. As you proceed the gmc will tell you themselves what other proofs they need from you.

No no. It's different from your final year transcript as well as your cumulative transcript. If you're from dow then go to the student's branch admin and ask them that you want a "final transcript" made. They will sort you out. This thing is like massive summary of all 5 years including details of marks achieved in your ward tests and everything.

@@MrEmadsaeed that should be enough. It worked for me when I used it for registering with the GMC. Some people use their provisional certificate. That also works.

You can be honest and just write just that. You can now try taking CPD courses and start a clinical job and say this is how you have kept your clinical skills up to date. But always be honest in everything you report to the GMC.

Most indians have their initials expanded in their passports so while giving the name should it be the name as its mentioned in the degree certificate ( with initials as it is) or as in the passport They ask you if the name is same as pmq
Sorry I didn't quite understand the question. If they are asking you for your name exactly as it is on your degree then you should state that. If they are saying to state your name exactly as it is on you passport then do that. They will reach out to you if they have any questions or need further explanations.

For GMC registration if it's more than 2 years old then a recent plab 2 pass qualifies as sufficient evidence. I wrote my middle names along with the first name. This was so that it would match exactly like it was on my passport and degree. Yes unfortunately i was in the unlucky last few that didn't get an extension. They announced the changes after I had already retaken the exam.

As far as I am aware you will need a certificate of good standing with PMC for GMC registration.

No no. It's different from your final year transcript as well as your cumulative transcript. If you're from dow then go to the student's branch admin and ask them that you want a "final transcript" made. They will sort you out. This thing is like massive summary of all 5 years including details of marks achieved in your ward tests and everything.

@@MrEmadsaeed that should be enough. It worked for me when I used it for registering with the GMC. Some people use their provisional certificate. That also works.

You can be honest and just write just that. You can now try taking CPD courses and start a clinical job and say this is how you have kept your clinical skills up to date. But always be honest in everything you report to the GMC.

I can't speak for the experience of other individuals. They accepted mine directly.
Most indians have their initials expanded in their passports so while giving the name should it be the name as its mentioned in the degree certificate ( with initials as it is) or as in the passport
They ask you if the name is same as pmq
Sorry I didn't quite understand the question. If they are asking you for your name exactly as it is on your degree then you should state that. If they are saying to state your name exactly as it is on you passport then do that. They will reach out to you if they have any questions or need further explanations.

It's quite fast. It will vary for everyone depending on what issues come up. Mine was done in 1 month.

For plab 1 it is still two years.
For GMC registration if it's more than 2 years old then a recent plab 2 pass qualifies as sufficient evidence. However plab 2 needs to have been passed no longer than 3 months before the time of application.

@amanysakr2725 sorry I don't understand the question. Doing masters and no job is equal to studying so no gen 1 form needed. Doing clinical work while also doing masters is still clinical work so no gen 1 form needed. Doing just a research position with no clinical work is non clinical which requires a Gen 1 form.

How to write middle name?
I wrote my middle names along with the first name. This was so that it would match exactly like it was on my passport and degree.
