When shiey climbed the Ferris wheel, I thought “dudes got nerves of steel” but then he climbed over to one of Duga’s antennas (which is like 150 metres up) I then came to the conclusion that it’s in fact not his nerves that are made of steel, it’s actually his balls

The 'tubes" are cage dipoles, a type of radio antenna. The whole array formed an over the horizon radar system that could be heard on short wave all over the US and Europe. The horizontal wires behind the dipoles formed a reflector which pushed all the radio frequency energy forward over the dipoles.
Yes, this was a phased-array antenna. The computer(s) that controlled this gigantic billboard of cathodes & anodes used electrical pulse timing among its anodes' power source to electronically steer the the beam the assembly or sections of the assembly produced.

That's quite a specific percentage, but I'd have to disagree and say that all Shiey's content is better and more entertaining than most movies.

Chernobyl isn’t that dangerous! You get more radiation from a flight on a plane than you do from the same length of time in the exclusion zone
@Arty Ivanenko Thanks for sharing your knowledge. But I was talking more about him climbing these crazy heights without safety haha
@@ArtyI Yeah except the keyword is "same length of time" You go too far into Chernobyl youll be there for too long and die. Not the case with an airplane...
@@nickz5849 think about how much time flight attendants and pilots spend in the air though. If it's fine for them to be spending that much time in the air, then spending a couple days in the exclusion zone doesn't seem that bad does it? You just wouldn't want to live there. As a more direct comparison, think about the amount of time the security guards spend in the exclusion zone, definitely far longer than these guys do.
@@almachizit3207 There is a 50% death rate at 3000 level radiation exposure. I have not finished the video yet but they were exposed to upwards of 2000 level radiation when they were near the Red Forest and Pripyat. It is certainly dangerous
in case anyone would like go there nowadays for this kind of adventure - I attempted it myself in november 2022. Cycled from Kiev all the way to the Chernobyl gate. The problem is - russian animals left the whole zone covered in various type of landmines (they estimate it's around 10 thousand of them). Tried to bribe the guards but they told me that they cant let me through cuz they cant order all the soldiers up there to not to shot me down .There's military forces there, cuz all the territory around the powerplant is considered a crucial infrastructed inside a warzone, meaning if you get spotted by a sniper/guard u get shot without a warning imediatelly (cuz they dunno if u r russian or who) + the whole area is just couple of kilometres from Belarussian territory and rockets launched from there land in Chernobyl frequently. So not only it is impossible to illegally get there through the forest cuz it's completely mined, but also to get there through the main road still will leave u at the mercy of both russian and Ukrainian snipers/soldiers. You would have to be literally suicidal to attempt it. Super sad cuz the mines will make this area unreachable even when the war is over :((( good times for Chernobyl adventures are over..
Between the unexploded bombs and mines, the active snipers and artillery, the radiation and Russians potentially pushing from Belorussia at any time this must be one of the most dangerous places on Earth right now.
You can literally see on 35:10 a gamma ray hitting the lens of the camera but you have to slow it on 0.25x and it's on his shoulder. A little white dot appears for a split second.
nice catch
very very cool
Ohh, so many questions. How do you know it's a gamma ray? What could it do to him? And HOW did you catch that!? 😱
That gamma ray sure does look and move like a bug
This honestly is my favourite film of all time. I watch this adventure a few times a year, completely. Never gets old, amazing footage. Such a shame this beautiful place was disturbed by the war. I hope the exclusion zone remains as untouched as possible.

I remember watching this last year. Now Chernobyl has been seized, Kyiv is under siege, and the country is a warzone. Surrel and errie. Chernobyl is errie in its own right, but I'm sure anyone going there in 10-15-20 years will see not only 1986 stuck in time, but 2022 as well, from the abandoned and destroyed military equipment left in the woods. This video is errie because the beginning is as time capsule as the content, Kyiv alive is so haunting and errie, its like watching someone go on a trip to the WTC prior to 9/11, no one saw this total invasion coming, Donbass sure, but a siege of Kyiv? Who would have thought the streets you were standing on, are an active warzone, the subway you walked in are now shelters, buildings seen are now gone, many of the people you see on camera in Kyiv, and elsewhere may not be with us anymore. This puts life into perspective, things can change in the blink of an eye. The talk of Nuclear war is something younger Millennials and Zoomers never had experience but now we do, have to at some level. I just hope this war ends and peace comes between Ukraine and Russia, and well the West and Russia avoid the worst possible scenario. My thoughts go out to the Ukrainian people under siege and resisting this right now. To the brave Ukrainians protesting under occupation and the brave Russians protesting against this war in Russia as well. Stay strong. God bless. 🇺🇦

@Aussie Pom Most of the tour companies all hit the same spots in the exclusion zone, at least as of January 2020. They all leave from Kyiv in the morning and return in the evening and generally take you to Pripyat, the power station, and Duga 3. In Pripyat, they will all take you to the school, sporting complex, supermarket, riverside, and the ferris wheel. To clarify & explain the radiation readings in the video, the readings were being taken in microsieverts (µSv) not milisirverts (mSv).
The highest reading mentioned in the video "600" was probably 6 microsieverts per hour, as they didn't seem to be taking the decimal point into account on the readout.
That is about the equivilent to a dental X-ray. An international flight is about 40 microsierverts and a chest X-ray is 100 microsieverts.
The maximum exposure permitted to members of the public in the US each year is 1,000 µSv.
Cancer risk is increased with doses higher than 100,000 µSv.
A deadly dose is 4,000,000 µSv (Death within 6 weeks)
10 minutes of exposure to the Chernobyl reactor after it's explosion was 50,000,000 (Death within 24 hours)
TLDR: They'll be fine.

He and his future kids will be fine... Ten hours of staying in Pripyat is a hundred times less dangerous than getting X-ray done, for example, and even safer than a two-hour flight by plane 🤷🏻♂️
I don't think Desmond has the organs to carry Shieys children
@@slothandturtle8036 yeaahhh thats not true. pripyat is safe for a few days, but an xray is wayyyy safer. also most plane radiation is so small its not measureable

@@anthonydecarolis2912 Bro.. they uploaded it in pieces and then a full video :D. If you need some background sound while working video's like these are perfect.
Make sure you keep some bolts on you to test for anomalies, also keep clear of the bandit faction in the dark forest, mercs in the dead city too
Started playing that recently, laughed a little too hard at this.
found any artifacts? a moonlight would be nice, but a sparkler will do too.

Climbing all the way to the top of the ferris wheel was nuts! You are a mad lad Shiey, respect.
I was so startled when the guys came in just as you were taping trashbags on the windows. So much for stealth XD
*My brain everytime I see or hear anything relating to Pripyat.*
"Easy lad, there's too many of them, keep a low profile and hold your fire. Let them pass..."
"That's a bloody convention out there!"

Hearing animals at night is okay. It’s when everything is quiet, even the wind, that’s when you should be worried/scared.
why?
@@SlovakClovek because it means something in the woods is making them scared too
@@DustyLamp I grew up in the woods. You’re absolutely correct.
@@DustyLamp or the radiation levels are so high that nothing can live there

I can't imagine how many years of his life this video took from him. I mean, visiting this zone is one thing, UN are even saying that the general radiation level is normal as of 2022, but climbing the ferris wheel and Duga? That's a whole other thing...
What do you mean by the years it took from him? Radiation wise or he got caught?
Radiation isn't bad if it's only 30 mSv (millisievert). Around 100 mSv isn't bad either, it just means you can only spend less time in the area. The Red Forest with 1000 to 2000 mSv is bad if staying too long. It won't have years of life taken off, but have effects like nausea shortly after, if stay too long.
The Radiation they had was about the same level as Kyiv while in Chernobyl. As the video showed the only high radiation levels that have consequences anymore are the reactor area itself, the red forest, and some of the rivers north of the plant flowing towards Belarus.
Anton is currently struggling with Multiple Sclerosis. Suss his Instagram. I wonder if his exposure in Chernobyl had an impact. You can’t calculate based off exposure time only as u have to remember that they are breathing in radioactive dust etc as they walk. Which hangs around in and around their body’s longer…
Unbelievable video I enjoyed every second of this, you got balls! Staying there freaked me out some parts were so tense. Ey man I can’t wait to see your other videos 💪🏽🙏🏽🇬🇧

"were gonna get pepperspray for self defence"
I dont think pepper spray will help you against bloodsuckers and monolith squads.
*sniff sniff* I smell S.T.A.L.K.E.R.
get out of here stalker
god damn controllers getting into my head..
It could work for bloodsuckers as they are melee range. Get them out of stealth.
The pepper spray _may_ be effective against wild, savage plant eaters (like that horse); but it will do NOTHING against hungry wolves & angry brown bears [both present _In the Zone_ ].
They would never show it onscreen, but Anton likely has a 9x19mm Glock 17 (or similar) for "personal defense" [ read his bodylanguage when those two other S.T.A.L.K.E.R.S. found their "secret room" in that aparment complex in the middle of the night... gauging if they could be from the Odessa´s _"Malina"_ Mafia ]; same thing with the armed security guards around the Duga radar ( if they caught him with it, it is prison time ).
-> It seems Anton had a "protocol" in case they got ambushed by the army guys [hiding it on a "cache" easy to recognize later], that Shiey planned to also use for his SD card with all of the "incriminating" footage. Once it seems they had lost their tracks (no inminent capture), they backtracked and recovered it [given that we DO have all the footage].
Kind of makes you wonder what the last day of normal life looked there, who the last ones were to ride that ferris wheel, kind of sad to think of what that place was like before it was abandoned.
watch the TV show on HBO called, Chernobyl. Its incredibly well done
Check out that show for real. It’s intense
I'll definitely have to check that out, these sort of things are really interesting, sad but interesting
No one rode that ferris wheel. The park was finished building one day before the catastrophe
