As an italian, I want to add some context under that video. This has been surely the heaviest earthquake in the recent history here in Italy, and while in the district capital, the reconstruction is in an advanced state, almost finished, in those small villages its like the time has stopped to that day. The residents of those houses still live in post-seismic "temporary" villages. I don't wanna even think what they went through, because they've been forgotten by the state and also by the italians
Third world countries: first time?
@@abigailjean7375 I agree with you. This is nowhere close to recent earthquakes in Haiti or Indonesia

@@OKuusava I would imagine that a lot of people rushed to grab what they could from cupboards etc, not leaving it 'tidy', but frantic to get out with what they could. This town takes me back to one of those villages where my grandma used to live and that as been hitted by the earthquake back in the 2016/2017.
The architecture, the tiny streets, even every bit of forniture of each house are just a memories print in my mind.
Do you know from which era this town is? It looks pretty old with the stone wall and tight alley
@@bayudewantoro4805 I can't really tell as every tiny village in Italy has a different story. If we have to guess according to my grandmother village the first discovery was a tomb from the first century BC but the first time they actually use its name was around the year 1000. Often you can find them in the Appennini mountains (Tuscany, umbria, Molise, Lazio regions etc) as people from bigger city decided to leave and settle in more defensive area due to barbarian invasions during the roman times. Bear in mind that back in the days (medieval time) these tiny villages where almost isolated and difficult to get to. Also not too many people really known about it if not the ones that lived in the area.
So this place was abandoned, because of an earthquake?
@@Scott.Farkus I can't be sure as I don't know the name of it. But guessing by the surrounding area and the architecture I would say center of Italy, where there has been a big earthquake in the past years and many small villages have been destroyed or abandoned
@@ChristopherRosiVideographer the earthquake happened in Aquila so this place must be near that area.
I'm from Italy and i think i know this place but i am not gonna tell the internet anything haha.
I am sure that if someone wants can find this place.
It's kinda weird to think that each one of those beds was occupied by a normal person, whose entire life was disrupted by a freak natural event. They weren't employees of the government, or supported by a nuclear plant, they just lived their lives in the middle of the countryside. Then, one day, the earth literally swayed underneath their feet, and they would never live in their homes again.
I know this is a common experience with every natural disaster, but something about the atmosphere is just evoking a very strong feeling for me. It just seems so quiet and normal, yet so surreal as it is abandoned. Those cracks seem to be the only visual reminder of this tragic disaster. It is just such an unsettling and thought-provoking sight.
Also, I swear I'm not ChatGPT
This guy must suffer from back pain due to the sheer size of his cajones. I mean, who sleeps in an abandoned village in the mountains by themselves?

Bruhhh this is so crazy and amazing to watch. Like he’s somewhere in Italy exploring something abandoned town. Like what an absolutely amazing job.
The town most likely has partial electricity, as any construction work / demolition work & the workers would probably want access to electricity for their equipment. It may seem strange and freaky but it is still recently abandoned relatively speaking, and it doesn’t cost much to power let’s say 2 blocks of the city so construction workers can tap into the power there.
You don't need to flex your divine power to us plebs, my king.
Architectures on those buildings look cool. Reminds me of medieval city-planning from cities of urban France and other Romance towns alike.
Amazing! Now that appeals to me, having the whole town to myself without a soul around - awesome.

That view, and town is absolutely beautiful. Hopefully it can be restored to its former glory and the previous residents can have their homes back.
This one is salvageable. Hundreds of others not so much, especially when they have lost significant buildings like churches, palaces and castles. Look up "Amatrice" that medieval town with like 10 churches was totally flattened, nothing has survived. And there are dozens of towns and churches totally lost around.
11111111
They were likely compensated for their homes when they all left, and now the government or whoever is funding the restoration will sell the homes. This is just my assumption tho
Edit: I’m wrong, refer to CVP 6710 for more info
It's very rare that this towns will be restored completly, im from Italy and this is normal for us. As can you see a lot of houses are old and the people that lived there pobably died.
I live near that place, the problem for that town is not only the earthquake damage to buildings, but also, as you can see in the video, the entire town is just under that rocky cliff, wich is the reason its a forbidden area. There are projects to secure the cliff with anchors and nets but as for now any big rock could fall and destroy some house
