- Hey everyone! We're Eric Lagerstrom and Paula Findlay, and we started That Triathlon Life! This is the story of Eric's short track and standard distance pro races at XTERRA Germany, in Zittau.
Since 2006, the competition has taken place in the Zittauer Gebirge nature park in the southeastern border triangle of Germany on the borders of Poland and Czech Republic.

2 years ago I went to the doctor due to low energy and got all types of bad news. Having two young kids I knew I needed to make a change. I was 310lbs, and I started walking/running to now running 5 days a week. I am now 240lbs and feel absolutely amazing. No more bad news!! I lift weights as well and started to ride a road bike recently. Cardio has been great, but it started with running

Stellar performance...5th when you are out of your element, 7 time zones from home...I agree, a little more strength work and perhaps a trip to some rocky climbing to prep...podium is entirely possible.

Good point 'bout the downhills requiring to throw caution to the wind. There's a gladiator element in xterra. The rocks are your opponent!

Xterra Germany will be my big goal for next year and my first xterra allover. i knew i would have to train hard for it, but now i know i will have to train even harder. great pictures, honest words. aprecciate your content so much. thx for all the ttl stuff you do. despite you're pros, in your contend triathlon really feels like a lifestyle, a happy lifestyle and not just hard work, what it definitely is, but as i said, it is also fun and you remember me of that.

Great vid Eric and thanks for the recaps of both races. The off road footage looked rocky/scarey. You were smart not to "bomb" down those downhills, which could result in broken bones & teeth. Nothing wrong with top 5 dude, the Europeans had the "home court" advantage.

Nice video and great content as always. In Europe there are several races of this style. I recommend Xterra Lake Scanno in Italy, so hard.
Fun video, great race and effort...Hope, we will see you doing Xterra Czech Republic some day. It is held in the similar distance from Prague just in the opposite direction than Zittau:-).
I have been a fan of ttl for some time now. Two great ppl. Yet, I get the sense that the project is outgrowing its roots. Maybe it is time to find a manager, at least someone to handle the travel details.

I hope you cover the after party in the pod! I’m randomly interested since you mentioned it as “legendary” with a smirk.
The short course looked super fun and crowd friendly but not much opportunity for passing.. seem pretty frustrating when it seemingly leaves you to only be able to pass once your on the run.
If you liked the course you should come in Italy for XTerra Toscolano or XTerra Scanno
