Making a Nadja from What We Do in the Shadows Cosplay for Halloween!

- Get Hype - it's Spoopy Season™️!! I am obsessed with What We Do in the Shadows and so to kick off my first Halloween as a full-time RUclipsr (which means that I have an excuse to make all the cosplay and Halloween costumes!) I thought creating a Nadja cosplay would be loads of fun! (I also totally begged Nicole & Chrissy to join in on the fun...it got weird, y'all...)
Anyways, if you're looking to create a Nadja cosplay, I hope that this video helps you understand some of her key aesthetic looks and choices. I've also included some Late Victorian and some modern sewing patterns that I think would do a great job to help create a Nadja cosplay of your own!
My Nadja cosplay was made using the Møme Blouse pattern by P&M Patterns (link below), an antique skirt, extensions, some fangs that gave me a lisp, and Bernhardt boots by American Duchess!

I love when adults get into Halloween, take a character and do it well! Also, Nadja is AWESOME. She loves clothes that keep true to her original era (prior to being a vampire) but she’s grown into the current era with her attitude, which is fabulous!

I swear, Nadja was solid 1890’s until she saw Stevie Nicks and then mixed the two.
As a meme I saw pointed out, the intro sequence implies that the vampires dressed year appropriate up until current times when they decided they were going to dress Like That.

I actually went as Nadja last Halloween, but my costume was very impromptu, I just used a full length velvet skirt, the blouse with the puffiest sleeves I had, a waistcoat, and I mimicked the ruffle by pinning a lace veil.
I couldn't find no one who wanted to dress as Lazlo though, so I just roamed the party looking for Gregor 😅

Btw, the movie from 2014 is totally worth the watch, especially because it has Taika Waititi as a regency dandy vampire, and was the inspiration for the show

it's actually extensions - you can see my real (and much shorter 😂) hair sticking out in some places 😂😂😂

I love this show also!! One of the few times I think that a tv spinoff/interpretation is better than the original movie! Also, everything about this was absolutely fantastic! I loved the Colin cameo. Now you just need to find yourself a Nandor and a Guillermo!

Ahhh love it! I enjoy all the aesthetics in the show, how the costumes start from the date they became a vampire and gain different elements from different eras they lived through. The 80s hair Nadja is one of my favs and I'm only a little disappointed we didn't get 80s hair Abby :P

I love WWDITS and I love these costumes. The costume designer for the show put in like an insane amount of details, and the interview she did on Harvey Guillen's after show was fascinating.
I so love your mastery of creation! I do some sewing for cosplay, but not anywhere near your ability. In fact, my superpower is being able to lock up a machine in 60 seconds flat! Now I guess I should take a course in sewing machine repair! Love your art!
I share this skill when I'm using a Singer or a Brother. I've had to cut fabric out of both because it gets so bad. On a Janome, I can wrestle the project free and salvage it.
I literally just had to service my 50's era Singer into usability because I am the lock-up queen and the newer Janome just couldn't take it anymore.
