- Duke University point guard Vanessa de Jesus will finally suit up for Gilas Pilipinas Women's at the 2023 FIBA Asia Cup happening from June 26 to July 2 in Sydney, Australia.
Last time, we caught up with Gilas women head coach Pat Aquino, who says he can’t wait to see de Jesus wearing the national team’s jersey.
We speak with Vanessa herself joining us via Zoom from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

@@danilomaynite3606 Vanessa is playing as a naturalized player in Gilas women's team, I found out after her interview in the media. She failed to submit a passport before she turned 16.
Vanessa can play as a local for Gilas Pilipinas team for the SEA Games and the Asian Games because these tournaments are not sanctioned by FIBA. However, Vanessa will be considered as a naturalized player for FIBA sanctioned tournaments because she was not able to get her PH passport before she turned 16 yrs old which is a requirement for FIBA.

iguess you dont know about duke program duke has history and great track record...they play in a top rated conference which includes perenial championship contenders. you need to look up atlantic coast conference and see for yourself the teams and how each team did...its a very strong conference that had many teams play in the womens tournament

We have to naturalize an American center. This is our weak spot in the team. We area heavy on guards. Animam is just a so-so center, a bit slow, and she was clearly outclassed by Southeast asian naturalized frontcourt from Indo and Cambodia. Forget about that other center of ours, she is just--- nevermind. LOL
