And yet, I have both Fengwei and Tanaka (a Japanese guard in this tournament) as third-rounders for 2026, with Tanaka taken earlier than Fengwei, and maybe even a late second.

Not necessarily, if she becomes a perimeter shooting threat and 3-point threat then absolutely she will. Zhang is only a consistent scoring threat in the paint. If Team USA ends up beating her team it'll likely be by perimeter and 3 point shooting.
I know it’s unfair to the opposition. However she does show some actual basketball skills. She’s very coordinated for her height and actually a good passer from the low post. This will be different of course once she starts facing bigger players from the WNBA.

Literally no chance. None of the Japanese players can bother her shots under the rim. Even with arms fully extended, or double teamed. It doesn’t matter. You could possible just deny easy buckets with fouls and force her to score from the line but then you risk so many players fouling out
And her free throw is good so hucking is not proper way to prevent her easy buckets
@@toyonoshimadaiki12345 yeah. I looked up the shooting splits and she’s pretty solid at the line. China’s got a free win here. No one has the size to compete at this level. (Obviously different story once it’s not a junior team).
At this point if I was a coach, i’d literally make my players foul bait her to get her subbed out the game. Minimize her impact etc. still hard to do, seems disciplined enough and she doesn’t need to jump in the first place to block shots.

At 17 that's unbelievable. She doesn't know how to get in position to box out and she still had 14 rebounds from size and good hands. Nice touch around the basket. A few hook fade moves as well which are unstoppable with that type of height difference
The question is: which one would be the best fit for Ziyu for the next 3 years, Division 1 or Euroleague?
