Why? The length and content is the same as is their approach. You come here for the personalities which is fine but compare this to an ACG, TB, or even Angry Joe review that is way longer with more in depth criticism. Not saying these guys are bad but it's very similar to the big sites' review approach. In the end it's who you like and trust but their discussions in shows like Frame Trap should be more similar to their reviews that feel rushed sometimes (review events I'm sure). They did come from GT too, which was a big site with a somewhat generic criticism format. I enjoy their reviews but it's probably my least favorite form of content here vs the podcasts/discussions where they really shine.
I think the Allies reviews are more comparable to the X-Play reviews on G4 back in the day. There is just a unique polish and professionalism about the reviews. Jones's narration has an authority to it, and the reviews are sharply edited, and avoid rambling. They completely lack obnoxious internet meme talk and RUclips amateurism. There's nothing wrong with the more enthusiast tone of one-man-bands like Angry Joe or TB, but Easy Allies just delivers in terms of grown-up professionalism.
IGN reviews are shit. The only reviewer I really trust and agree with *most* of the time are ACG reviews. They are insanely well done and detailed. This review was pretty good as well.
I've wanted an AC set in Egypt for a long time and wow I can't believe how good this is. I've put 15h and I can say already this is my favorite AC game to date and one of my favorite games in general. It's amazing how they recreate that era, combat is addicting, stealth feels so good, the BOW feels amazing, climbing feels natural (at last), the rpg elements are great, the animals are so real and terrifiying, SENU is amazing, one of the bests things the game has. Overall I recommend this game, is a must.
I feel like this will be the most underrated game of the year. The amount of detail they’ve put into this game is beyond amazing. It never feels empty or lifeless, not even the vast miles of dessert. They added some neat mirage effects.
It's bizarre how many changes they keep making yet even after an extra year, they still can't make a well-polished game... I'm very keen on the RPG elements and I think it's the only interesting looking game since Black Flag, but considering how many games we're into this franchise, the fact they still feel so disorganised is unforgivable at this point.
I think the beauty of the franchise is that there's no denying it works for its audience, but its always been an objectively unpolished experience. I think Black Flag is the best in the franchise but it still feels like it could have done with another few months or so just to iron it out. It's an intense production schedule and I tend to look past technicalities if they don't disrupt the gameplay experience, but in this series I find it more frustrating when I feel like its just a few steps away from being something genuinely masterful.
What does Unity being shit at launch have to do with how Origins is at launch? We literally _know_ how Origins is. It's perfectly fine, save a handful of non-gamebreaking bugs and slight performance issues. They made a well-polished game.
Replayed this game this past year. I think it's the best of the new RPG trilogy by a pretty wide margin. The pacing, story, visuals, setting, and main character are all the best. It's odd looking back that Huber gave Odyssey a 9/10 and Origins a 7/10 when they are pretty much the same game in terms of gameplay, combat, mission structure, etc. Maybe he just likes Ancient Greece better lol
Yeah, i have that same feeling aswell. Older ubi games like the first assassins or the prince of persia games had character, but now it always feels like a reskinned cashgrab for some reason.
The Egyptian setting looks beautiful and well crafted. However, the gameplay looks so stiff and dull. I wish they took the time to smooth them out and make it more fluid.
Damn dude how I missed your voice!! I’m glad I found you guys again, was very sad when I heard GT was shutting down... my favorite review site since it pretty much launched. Anyways good to know you guys are good and back in action! Much love!
I love it, the map is gigantic and fun to explore, the level of and attention to detail is really amazing, the world feels alive, the clouds are super realistic, the mounts are kinda cute and it feels satisfying to ride them, it is just pure open world single player goodness to lost yourself in for hours, if you are into that of course, which I'm surely am :)
Looks great. I'm a fan of the series so this is a definite for me and tbh I'm just happy they kept the microtranactions quite similar to Syndicate. If they made them more intrusive I wouldn't be able to justify the purchase. I was able to ignore Syndicates and therefore probably will be able to ignore these very easily.
Grunkle Dan Yea I appreciate how they've handled micros in the Assassin series. I never even realized Syndicate had any until I found myself really exploring the pause menu. It's good for people who don't have hours upon hours to grind and explore. But for people who do have the time to dive deep into the game and upgrade naturally, the micros are really easy to ignore.
Not a fan of so many games having numbers pop up when you do damage to any enemy. I assume it's quite useful info, but I can't imagine the art team was in favour of that. Isn't the health bar enough feedback for the player?
"Just don't expect much change"... I don't think any fan of Assassin's Creed is expecting or wanting much change. It looks like just the right amount of new stuff while staying familiar and true to the franchise.
Yea they really made it sound like a 4. The "don't expect much change" comment at the end seemed a little odd as well, seeing as how from their review everything about this game is bigger and better than any of the previous titles.
The closing statement is kinda crazy, "Don't expect much change" when Ubisoft has been promoting the game by showing new "revamped" combat gameplay in this game. Which means a franchise like this has truly went past its prime and now is only being milked until people (or the publisher) wants it to be dead like Mass Effect (R.I.P)
I played far cry 4, ghost recon wildlands and now this. All games are graphically beautiful and that is it. Same old formula doing same things, also stories in these games are not interesting. Like someone said, big beautiful game but without soul.
Edit: I spoke too harshly. I let my anger at what they did to the combat/stealth system (and every choice that knocked on from that) get to me. I'm sorry for that. Otherwise, it's a decent-very good game. It just took me leveling up to 20+ to be able to really enjoy it, because so much of the progression is held back behind a heavy grind (to push mtx). The story is decent so far, the environment is awesome, and breasts are beautiful, so I'm glad they're not hiding that anymore in AC, other than Aya's love scenes, which is odd. The racing is great. The animals are great. Being able to tame the animals and watch them in action is great. And that's where the positives outweigh my lamentation over the loss of my favorite action/stealth gameplay in the industry. It's not what it could have been, but it's still a good game overall.
I wonder how Patrice Desilets feels about his creation turning more and more into Discount Witcher 3 with each installment, with this one making the biggest leap towards that goal and away from the original philosophy behind Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed II. I know I'm disappointed. This feels like a Halo 4 situation where it's maybe a decent game (though as far as MP's concerned Halo 4 is terrible no matter which lens its viewed from) but it's simply lacking as an entry in its franchise. This feels like it should've just been a new IP which is a spiritual successor to Assassin's Creed, much like Assassin's Creed is a spiritual successor to Prince of Persia. Because I look at this review and I don't see anything about social-stealth (stealth as a whole was barely mentioned), nothing about fighting corrupt political figures and reforming society from the shadows (Persona fucking 5 is closer to Desilets' vision for Assassin's Creed than this) and nothing about the sense of camaraderie you feel as you take on the world with your band of outlaw misfits (Ezio had a great crew helping him with Da Vinci, La Volpe, Machiavelli, Caterina Sforza and more making up a supporting cast the like of which are only seen in the best of the best shonen manga out there). I really can't get into this franchise like I once did with all of these elements missing. We should've gotten closer and closer to "Agent 47 but we're in the past" and instead we're getting "Link, Geralt and Dovakhin-man do this much better". If you plan on buying this, I honestly hope you have fun. I just can't get down with the road one of my favorite franchises has taken. "Requiescat in pace"
Kid Zarathustra Assassin’s Creed sold much better than Prince of Persia games that came before it. Something being a new IP doesn’t mean it won’t sell well. Also, the AC brand is not as strong as it once was anyway.
I just can’t get over how combat is the crustiest it’s ever been in the entire series. If you’re gonna take away the chain kills (which I wasn’t opposed to), at least make it fluid Ubi.
χρονης κ. Nah, it's not about cinematic shit, I loved Nioh and Nier Automata for example, this game's combat looks worse than the Witcher 3's and I wasn't a huge fan of Wild Hunt's combat. I'm looking at weight/impact, enemy reaction to contact, fluidity of movement and depth, so far from what I've seen, AC: Origins has depth, but that's it. People who think that the combat is good are comparing it to previous AC games, which also had pretty mediocre or bad combat.
By the way, microtransactions are entirely optional and should not be held against the game. "Time Savers" are just that; time savers. I had a terminally ill friend whose favorite series was Assassin's Creed, and Time Saver microtransactions allowed him to get the most out of Black Flag before he passed. If you want to enjoy the game within you own time, play at your own pace and you'll be just fine. But if you are the type of gamer where money isn't an issue and want to speedrun, or just want to SAVE TIME (which becomes increasingly short as you grow older) etc, by all means. Ubi shouldn't be hounded for their decision to implement these. People freak the fuck out way too often over their implementation when you can ignore them entirely.
Well to be fair most AC games are pretty short to beat... mainly to be completed at around 15-25 hours. It seems the reviewers seem to beat the game at around the 20-25 hour mark so it shouldn't be THAT much of a problem with time. I mean if you want to do the other side things though that will probably take you another 20-25 or more anyways from my understanding.
Man, I was into right up until “if you love the franchise origins is an easy recommendation... Just, don’t expect much change.” That line changed it from a buy to MAYBE a rent.
Let's be frank: Assassin's Creed 1 wasn't much more than a rough draft, only the second one actually set down the "blueprint" for the rest of the series. Sadly, not much seems to have changed since then and the main issues from back then (i.e. bland and repetitive side missions with barely any connection to anything in the game's "world") still plague the series.
This is how I've enjoyed every AC since AC3. Steam usually has them discounted by Winter Sale time and can be purchased for even less than 30 sometimes.
I disagree with most of the review. After playing for more that 50 hours I think it is the best AC so far. I enjoyed the main story and the sidequests were a huge step up from the previous only-4-kinds-of-sidequest model. Now every quest has it's own story and dialog and there are a few chained quests that allow you to follow on some secondary characters. I like this game more than Horizon (and I really enjoyed Horizon). The world is very big and diverse, you get a surprising amount of variety for a game you'd expect to be pretty much 100% desert. The combat is not great, I'd say it is about as generic as the witcher's, but it is still a big improvement compared to any previous AC. Highly recommended for AC fans, as the review said. Personal score: 8.5
Thanks for the scoop, Huber. As someone who doesn't like assassin's creed but was interested because of all the 'changes' its good to know that it's still not much different. I'll be avoiding it.
Skooma Much tbh it looks like the same microtranactions that were in Syndicate and most people didn't even realise they existed. Much prefer these "time savers" over what other games have been doing.
Grunkle Dan I agree, these developers are forced to put in microtransactions in their games so I respect this Ubisoft studio for not putting in extremely predatory microtransactions
"Finally, the microtransactions. We weren’t going to get through a major AAA release without mentioning them, but fortunately, there’s little to say. You can technically buy loot boxes, because you can buy gold, which then buys loot boxes, but there’s no reason to do that because you can buy everything in the game with real life money. Literally everything from gold to skill points to map reveals to specific legendary weapons, outfits and mounts that you can otherwise earn in game. It’s the clearest example of literally paying for cheat codes I’ve ever seen in a game and for that reason it’s almost…harmless? You can skip the microtransactions altogether and not feel like you’re missing anything at all, and the store is not directly integrated into the core of the game like we see in Shadow of War, so it’s not even in your face taunting you. As systems like this go, even for as much as it offers, this one is pretty toothless, and I like it for that." - Forbes
haven;'t played AC: Ubisoft Syndicate microtransaction in this game is pretty much the same with Black Flag also.. only this time you can hear Ubisoft begging to buy their Helix Points
My review on Assassin's Creed Origins is this. First off it lacked a good storyline. I feel that part of the best mechanism of the Assassin's Creed franchise, is the emotional content that connects you to the story ark, & the character you're playing. I feel that Bayek didn't have any strong supporting background characters, Whether it was opposite character, or another strong leading character such as his wife Aya. I felt as though the trip to Egypt was a waste. Not because of the setting but because of the fact they could've tied a lot of things up with this story. Such as the iso & man split, the Templar order & the forming of the Egyptian Brotherhood of Assassin's. I really was looking for Ubisoft to give us a story like Horizon Zero Dawn. Which by the way had a really good dynamic range to it. I felt as though because this game is such a popular title the developer's should've polished this tittle like it was going to be the last. As far as game play, graphics design, & new features such as Senu. I thought the did very well on. Anyway those are just some of the short comings I saw as a player from a player prospective. I thought the tittle was a big let down.
Time savers aren't really something new. Battlefield has had them since Battlefield 3. Skate 2 had that Time is Money DLC that unlocked everything in the game for $5. I didn't find them intrusive then, I won't find them intrusive now. I understand Huber's viewpoint when it comes to Multiplayer games revolving around loot. Your cool sword becomes a lot less valuable when you see a guy who bought it for 2 dollars queueing for a dungeon with you. I don't understand it when it comes to a single player game based around exploration. Why does it affect your perception of your gameplay experience because some other person decided to save some time and buy the locations? It doesn't affect you at all. If the only reason that gameplay was good was because of your accomplishment, and if that value in the gameplay can be so easily taken away by the fact that someone else can pay to skip it in their own game, was the gameplay even that good in the first place?
Great review Huber. I'll probably do what I've done with every AC game since 3 - either buy it pre owned when it's cheap or borrow it from a friend. I refuse to support this franchise unless the story gets itself together, but this doesn't necessarily seem to do that.
Last one I played was AC 2: Brotherhood. As good as this looks, 3 games was enough to know that it would be the same list of mindless tasks. It's fine if you want something to unwind with, but I don't have the time for that anymore.
Because of the line : "Don't expect must change" The game is the most changed in the franchise by a country mile. Does it still cling to tropes of the franchise? yeah that's called being a part of a franchise. However Origins is the "Rogue One" of the series. I've played every AssCreed except for 3 because it was lambasted for being really bad. Origins is leaps and bounds more "progressive" than any of the other installments including Black Flag which while amazing at first, grew tedious quickly.saying "Don't expect much change: would be like telling that to someone about Bruce Jenner and then revealing Caitlin. wow, really odd choice of comparison there ( before I get slammed folks, sarcasm I intend sarcasm so I am free of your criticism for that comparison )Bloodworth - have you played it? If so, would you ever describe it as "don't expect much change" even though every aspect of the game has had major changes"
Well everyone raved about Black Flag for being so different. This game is leaps and bounds more different. I mean, sure, like I said, a lot of the franchise tropes are there, i.e. climbing crap, hidden blade, when you make a kill on a target you are magically teleported to a space between realities for some weird poetic artsy fartsy reason =)I loved Black flag until I didn't. I got bored and have yet to finish it. SO far this game changes stuff up so much that at times I literally forget I am playing an AssCreed game. Granted, it takes but a few seconds for it to come crashing back to me...Oh and let me be clear. I like the game, it is however, despite all the changes, still a good experience, not a great or amazing one. Story wise, this game holds nothing on AC2 - ACRev - the Ezio games were the best by far. I am just glad the combat is less "sticky" and "snap crackle pop" and instead is almost like a laughably mediocre Lords of the Fallen combat system. Accept the bows, they are just meh.
1. Assassin’s Creed 2 + Brotherhood (Hard to chose haha) 2. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag 3. Assassin’s Creed Origins (I’d put the story of Origins over Black Flag and AC2 due to it being so different/dark. However gameplay is more MMORPG inspired and less of the franchise itself. Only reasons I put it at number 3!)
Good review but I have a problem with the star system. How does 3.5 stars equate to decent? Decent to me is 'ok' or 'average'. And a 7/10 should really be called good or something along those like. If 7 on the scale is decent does that mean 5 is bad? Your scale seem way too weighted at one end. I've always hated this about reviews. A 5 should be average. Not a 7.
Time Savers I’m okay with because you don’t have to buy those and only helps those without the time to spend exploring the game. I’m not okay with in-game content that are “DLC” on day 1.
I dunno. I'm excited for more AC, but the RPG elements bum me out. I thought Black Flag had the perfect balance of traditional AC gameplay and light RPG elements, but Origins seems like it's going almost full RPG. Maybe it's because I just finished Nier Automata, but I'm just not feeling for Origins at the moment.
I'm curious: it seems the combat has been revamped, though I'm not sure to what degree but everyone says its harder. But reviewers call it more of the same. Why is that? Same concepts just slightly different mechanics or something else?
All I'm saying is if Assassin's Creed was a more linear game I feel like it would be better. I feel like the developers of Assassin's Creed games are forced to make a new open world every two years(at least used to), which is no easy task.
MrCrazyduck22 I agree so much! Most people would prefer it open, but having it closer to how Deus Ex handles level design would really help, imo. The open worlds are vast, but they lack density. Having it semi open like Deus Ex and Tomb Raider would allow for more focused narrative and better level design. The graphical fidelity would be better too and they could use extra resources in animation and some interesting set pieces.
I feel like as the origins of assassin creed the story and stealth should have been better and the new combat system should have been polished more,I feel like they were so focused on making a beautiful open world that they didn’t give enough attention to the game mechanics and they rushed the story but overall the game is still good and very addicting they didn’t really capture the feeling of being an assassin in a rpg
you guys' reviews are still the best but i'm shocked you gave it a 3.5*, sounded more like a 4*. Anyways i'll be picking this up when I get a current gen console as i'm a huge AC fan (although admittedly I skipped Unity and Syndicate)
Not possible on the X1X. It has the same lame CPU as the rest of the consoles so if they can't do 60 fps it cannot as well. Open world at 60 fps won't happen this gen besides Mario lol
i love how spokesman for the game swore you could not buy those lootboxes with real money, only with ingame money...but failed to mention that tiny detail that you can trade the purchasable items for ingame money. Such sneaky pieces of crap they are. Anyone else just see most big budget games just getting worse and worse over the next few years? I just can't see people like EA and Activision stopping or not trying out even more shady sh*t in the future.
thelinedrive there is a VERY substantial modern day story that you will not be disappointed with. Kind of like the first game where you can find little things and dig your nose through 2 hours worth of emails and data to more interactive things that AC2 introduces
I feel that comparison is greatly exaggerated. Hunting is vastly different for starters. You can craft to upgrade your health and weapon damage but nothing trivial like “wallet size” in far cry. Outposts aren’t similar either, you either have animal lairs which are kill all to pass and soldier posts are just kill commander/captain and find items to pass.

Oh, aaaaand apparently they're going to be starting up timed events soon that you won't have access to if you don't do them by a particular date (like the festivals from FFXV or Elusive Target's from the newest Hitman). That one I'm particularly salty about.
Well it is a sequel and it honestly shouldn't change everything or it will end up risking itself turning into something it isn't and will alienate the long time fans of the franchise. As long as the narrative is good and the story is once again focused up then you have mine and the rest of the fanbase attention. Bring back the excellent writing we've seen in AC1,3,4 and Rogue. That's were all of the spotlight was at and really need to see Ubisoft at they're best again.

Guh, I feel bad for AC... It's a great idea for a franchise, but Ubisoft hasn't been treating it with enough respect :( It's got the potential to be something truly iconic, like Mario or Zelda, but instead of giving the games time to mature (core Mario and Zelda titles come out every ~4 years) they try to churn it out ;_; And it sounds like Ubisoft isn't going to be getting enough incentive to make quality rather than quantity for it from Origins, so... RIP quality from Altair's and Ezio's early days...
Zack Fair I disagree. This is easily the best thing to happen to the franchise. It was just too lame being able to counterkill a battalion of soldiers who attack you one at a time with. I difficulty. The worst thing to happen to the series is when Ubisoft abandoned the original Trilogy only concept after 2 in favor of animalizing it.
Personally I love this game. It has lots of elements from great open world games like, zelda, dark souls and the witcher mixed together well to make a really enjoyable game. Easily 4.5 stars for me.
Also when will eve or Eden show up again lol it’s so many unexplained things in the series when Desmond was alive everything was so mysterious like the truth video. I wouldn’t mind a modern day story honestly only it would move forward with Juno and the pieces of Eden and Desmond’s son as a enemy turned ally after he meets his father in the animus explaining to his son what he fought for and adding the descendent of eve is the key and find her and Desmond son and the defendant of eve fight together to stop Juno with assassins resistance against her and maybe some mind controlled salves she’s held captive and I miss when the holograms of Juno Jupiter and Minerva showed up
When I heard the rumors that the next AC was gonna be in Ancient Egypt, I was excited. After seeing the debut at E3...I wasn't excited. Something about it just didn't sit well with me. After hearing this review, however, I'm thinking I'll get this. BTW, for those bemoaning the "timesaver" microtransactions, in case you don't remember, we've had those since AC4 at least, maybe even AC3, so they're nothing new.
Something really weird about this review. It's like Huber's dreaminess was detrimental to his enjoyment. On the other hand he decides that the glass is half empty on some of these things even though usually he'd go for glass half full. Like the microtransaction bit, How does it devalue your time if you actually explore? You can also think it actually makes it better because you took the time instead of paying right? Huber blink twice on the next podcast if you've been kidnapped.
+Jonathan Tessier You obviously haven't played an AC game before if that's what you think, I've never felt like I had to go buy their credits/ download mobile apps. That's not really my point though, my point is Huber decided to criticize the game for things that are problematic only because he decided they are. The review goes through how many people on the team before they release it? And nobody thought to be like "Huber-kun this thing you're criticizing seems to be too subjective for a review that advises the general public. It's also the way he wrote it like it's objectively true that it's a problem, without any " I am mentioning this for anyone who might find this bothersome". Overall disappointed with the quality of this review that I think is pretty lazy. I expect better of you Easy Allies. All of you that had a hand in this review.
You work for Ubisoft or something? Why are you so vehemently defending microtransactions of all things? And reviews are just someone's opinion on a thing. Of course they're subjective.
+Roasted Nuts I am not defending microtransactions, I am criticizing the way in which the review is done. Like the comment about combat where you can forget about your shield. Be real guys how many times in your playthrough of Bloodborne did you forget about your left hand pistol? But Bloodborne is 15/10 game of a generation right? 70% of this reviews problems with the game are too subjective. Not supporting Easy Allies again if this is the quality of reviews they will put out.
In a different reality where this game is a new IP from Nintendo: "10/10, one of the best games ever!!1!" I'm having more fun with this game than I did with BotW.
why does easy allies not have more subs. Their reviews are way higher quality than ign.
They are about the same to be honest.
Kid Zarathustra strongly disagree
IGN reviews are shit. The only reviewer I really trust and agree with *most* of the time are ACG reviews. They are insanely well done and detailed. This review was pretty good as well.

I feel like this will be the most underrated game of the year. The amount of detail they’ve put into this game is beyond amazing. It never feels empty or lifeless, not even the vast miles of dessert. They added some neat mirage effects.

I think you're exaggerating a bit.
The RPG stuff makes it look a bit like an Egyptian Witcher game so that's got me a tad excited but I'll refrain until I've seen more
How can he be exaggerating after Unity came out? He's got every right to feel this way.
Most important question: Can we play card games with the pharaoh?
Bayek: Before I kill your brother that threatens to kill you...
Cleopatra: Yes?
Bayek: Have you heard of the card game gwent?
Replayed this game this past year. I think it's the best of the new RPG trilogy by a pretty wide margin. The pacing, story, visuals, setting, and main character are all the best. It's odd looking back that Huber gave Odyssey a 9/10 and Origins a 7/10 when they are pretty much the same game in terms of gameplay, combat, mission structure, etc. Maybe he just likes Ancient Greece better lol
Visually its pretty nice but there's always something soulless about these games. They have that 'made by committee' feeling about them. I'm out.
So very true. I can’t quite put my finger on it but a lot of Ubisoft games have that feel about them for me
Yeah, i have that same feeling aswell. Older ubi games like the first assassins or the prince of persia games had character, but now it always feels like a reskinned cashgrab for some reason.
felt that way about gta 5... good game but i dont know.. for me personally, it didnt have that soul that previous games had if that makes much sense
So damn right. I played through Horizon Zero Dawn recently. Even though it’s not a perfect game, it had a soul. It felt like uncompromised art.
The same thing goes with EA
The Egyptian setting looks beautiful and well crafted. However, the gameplay looks so stiff and dull. I wish they took the time to smooth them out and make it more fluid.
Damn dude how I missed your voice!! I’m glad I found you guys again, was very sad when I heard GT was shutting down... my favorite review site since it pretty much launched. Anyways good to know you guys are good and back in action! Much love!
Love you guys....you and Karak from ACG are the saviours of gaming journalism!
AC is my reliable go to "wait for the gold edition to be 30 bucks" game, probably gonna stick to that plan, thanks for the review
I can't wait to play this game! It's so friggin huge and beautiful. I'm all in for the exploration and combat. My 4K TV is drooling.
Soji SideQuest they are more intrusive in this game
who voices these reviews? I've been listening to GT reviews for 10 years and he is by far the best!
Thanks Blood!
Not a fan of so many games having numbers pop up when you do damage to any enemy. I assume it's quite useful info, but I can't imagine the art team was in favour of that. Isn't the health bar enough feedback for the player?
Dan Heuser you can toggle it off
1:49 How you can tell it's a Huber review, Warrior tree is maxed. Classic
"Just don't expect much change"... I don't think any fan of Assassin's Creed is expecting or wanting much change. It looks like just the right amount of new stuff while staying familiar and true to the franchise.
Yes it's good to hear that familiar "Game Trailers" voice and the well written and executed reviews again! Nice work, Michael!
Witcher 3 complete edition for $20 on psn?? I'll get that instead!!!
So much better than ACG. His attempts at humor pain my soul.
Is it just me or from the review it doesn't sound like a 3.5( decent) but a 4? great review anyways
azsugar was thinking the same thing :P
yeah the review was positive.... i was thinking it will get a 4 or even a 4,5
Yea they really made it sound like a 4. The "don't expect much change" comment at the end seemed a little odd as well, seeing as how from their review everything about this game is bigger and better than any of the previous titles.
Micro transactions knocked off some of the score. As they should.
azsugar I expected a 4 at least.. 3.5 is too low
Most of the interior are similar because ubisoft want to be accurate.. Ancients Egypt interior and exterior has less variety
Armin Slisans Well that’s incredibly unfair
Even after all the years guys... You're still the review that really matters. Kuddos to you all, Easy Allies.
A new IP wouldn't sell nearly as much vs a game with the AC name on it.
Kid Zarathustra Assassin’s Creed sold much better than Prince of Persia games that came before it. Something being a new IP doesn’t mean it won’t sell well. Also, the AC brand is not as strong as it once was anyway.
Well said!
The og author of the series tried playing AC 3. He put down the controller 15 minutes later with disgust.
With each entry that I see from the franchise I feel better and better by dropping it after Assassin's Creed 2
I just fell in love with Egypt right after playing the game for about 2 hours and felt like, I wanna visit Siwa and Alexandria soon.
I just can’t get over how combat is the crustiest it’s ever been in the entire series. If you’re gonna take away the chain kills (which I wasn’t opposed to), at least make it fluid Ubi.
RayDae yeah it looks like Tom and jerry
Exactly, the combat looks terrible and it's one of the main reasons why I'm hesitant to pick this up.
Same old song and dance. Could still be enjoyable, but will wait until it's 30 bucks or something.
Super Mario Odyssey for october 27th, get hyped!
Victor fuck yeeeesss my copy just shipped from amazon
ur missing out lol
Victor Can’t get hyped for a Mario game I’m sorry.
This is how I've enjoyed every AC since AC3. Steam usually has them discounted by Winter Sale time and can be purchased for even less than 30 sometimes.
hyped for a mario game? LMFAO
4:12 "This town must be PURGED of corruption!" ~ Law
Seriously, I imagine that's what Law looks like in videogame form.
Anyone know if we're getting a review of Odyssey soon or did these guys not get a review copy because of the leak fiasco?
Wow, that’s quite early!

*Assassin's Greed*
@Kevin Lee So it's either buy transactions or grind for 30 hours. Those are some stellar options for a full priced, premium, single player game.
haven;'t played AC: Ubisoft Syndicate
microtransaction in this game is pretty much the same with Black Flag also..
only this time you can hear Ubisoft begging to buy their Helix Points
Since when did Easy Allies start having a 4K option? Nice.
Reviewed on Xbox One X? MUST BE NICE!
GREASY PALMS
I've actually seen many people mention the X1X version was laggy and unstable while the Ps4 Pro performed fine.
kraenk12 lmao
kraenk12 yeaaaaah okay.
kraenk12 I play on the Xbox one x and it’s not laggy lmao?
Last one I played was AC 2: Brotherhood. As good as this looks, 3 games was enough to know that it would be the same list of mindless tasks. It's fine if you want something to unwind with, but I don't have the time for that anymore.
Badmunky64 No mindless tasks in this one. Side quests actually have their own storys like Witcher 3
how many hours did Huber play this before writing this review? I'm guessing nowhere near enough.
Accept the bows, they are just meh.
would you consider this a good jumping point to the series for someone who hasn't played any f the previous games?
1. Assassin’s Creed 2 + Brotherhood (Hard to chose haha)
2. Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag
Not a 7.

I want a Samurai AC and a Future AC.
Ghost of Tsushima is your best bet
So are we back to yearly releases?
Time Savers I’m okay with because you don’t have to buy those and only helps those without the time to spend exploring the game. I’m not okay with in-game content that are “DLC” on day 1.
Exactly
Is there a micro transaction purchase I can make so it plays the game for me?
In some cases...there's no need to go full RPG...
Ollie
Yeah, Assassin's Creed games always seem to be bigger than they need to be.
Exactly.
You guys should really try this out. Egypt is easily the best map/environment they’ve ever produced. It’s really well done
"But has the extra development time paid dividends or is this origin...
...off to a bad start?"
Bring back the punny intros, Jones!
Best fix for the LOOTBOCALYPSE 2017? Unplugging your ethernet cable from your system.
Wow reviews now in 4k!? Thanks for that :D
Man those damage numbers look so fucking bizarre in this.
Is there a 60fps option on Xbox1x as rumoured? Or any kind of X support?
Not possible on the X1X. It has the same lame CPU as the rest of the consoles so if they can't do 60 fps it cannot as well. Open world at 60 fps won't happen this gen besides Mario lol
Blood wasn't kidding, this *is* a great script. Nice work Huber!
i love how spokesman for the game swore you could not buy those lootboxes with real money, only with ingame money...but failed to mention that tiny detail that you can trade the purchasable items for ingame money. Such sneaky pieces of crap they are. Anyone else just see most big budget games just getting worse and worse over the next few years? I just can't see people like EA and Activision stopping or not trying out even more shady sh*t in the future.
And what of the modern day storyline? My decision to buy depends largely on if Ubisoft does anything substantial with the modern day frame story.
thelinedrive there is a VERY substantial modern day story that you will not be disappointed with. Kind of like the first game where you can find little things and dig your nose through 2 hours worth of emails and data to more interactive things that AC2 introduces
JDMSG are we still a disembodied floating camera or do we have an actual protagonist in the frame story again.
thelinedrive actual protagonist. No more first person camera explore crap.
So basically they slapped Far Cry and Assassins Creed together?
Like lubbed ass and lemons, yep
I feel that comparison is greatly exaggerated. Hunting is vastly different for starters. You can craft to upgrade your health and weapon damage but nothing trivial like “wallet size” in far cry. Outposts aren’t similar either, you either have animal lairs which are kill all to pass and soldier posts are just kill commander/captain and find items to pass.
Your voice kind of reminds me of the guy who always used to narrate Gametrailers reviews.

Blindly Fumblin
Neat
Still waiting for an Ass Creed game based on Korea, China or Japan.
Is the pre order mission worth it?
Asking the real questions.
There are also MICROTRANSCATIONS in this game too? Smh.
It's sadly the direction the industry is headed.
Yep. And there's a merchant in the game that sells loot boxes too. That you can purchase with real money.
Awkward Silence sigh
Oh, aaaaand apparently they're going to be starting up timed events soon that you won't have access to if you don't do them by a particular date (like the festivals from FFXV or Elusive Target's from the newest Hitman).
That one I'm particularly salty about.
I expect a good Black Friday price and to heartily enjoy playing it eventually. Just not upon release.
Okay, nice, great, so when do I get to play the inevitable Assassin's Creed game that'll be set in feudal Japan?
The review sounded more positive than the score. I thought it would have gotten a 4 or even a 4.5 stars.
Thanks Allies for talking about the micro-transactions.
Holy shit you’re the guy from GT. I miss that channel

Guh, I feel bad for AC... It's a great idea for a franchise, but Ubisoft hasn't been treating it with enough respect :( It's got the potential to be something truly iconic, like Mario or Zelda, but instead of giving the games time to mature (core Mario and Zelda titles come out every ~4 years) they try to churn it out ;_;
And it sounds like Ubisoft isn't going to be getting enough incentive to make quality rather than quantity for it from Origins, so... RIP quality from Altair's and Ezio's early days...
The fact this game is an rpg is an insult to the og ACs. UBI, you should have never fired the original authors. Every AC since has feeled soulless.
Wait, you guys already have the One X?! DAMN! MUST BE NICE! :D
Easy Allies og xD haha. Well, still nice to have played on one? :D
They said the game was full of technical problems though.
Personally I love this game. It has lots of elements from great open world games like, zelda, dark souls and the witcher mixed together well to make a really enjoyable game. Easily 4.5 stars for me.
This voice, is it the same guy from game trailers?
direbane it is. This channel is made up of ex-GT guys.
It's the whole team!
Can you turn off the Damage Indicators?
I believe you can just turn of all the things on your screen off in the settings if you want to play it to appreciate the graphics more.
Also when will eve or Eden show up again lol it’s so many unexplained things in the series when Desmond was alive everything was so mysterious like the truth video. I wouldn’t mind a modern day story honestly only it would move forward with Juno and the pieces of Eden and Desmond’s son as a enemy turned ally after he meets his father in the animus explaining to his son what he fought for and adding the descendent of eve is the key and find her and Desmond son and the defendant of eve fight together to stop Juno with assassins resistance against her and maybe some mind controlled salves she’s held captive and I miss when the holograms of Juno Jupiter and Minerva showed up
Should I get this or wolfenstein 2, I want a game that I can invest in
When I heard the rumors that the next AC was gonna be in Ancient Egypt, I was excited.
Damn..... coming from Huber. That can’t be good. He loves everything.
I've been on an Assassin's Creed binge and I can't wait to get to Origins
You guys played this on Xbox One X? They've already sent you an X????
Something really weird about this review. It's like Huber's dreaminess was detrimental to his enjoyment. On the other hand he decides that the glass is half empty on some of these things even though usually he'd go for glass half full.
Like the microtransaction bit, How does it devalue your time if you actually explore? You can also think it actually makes it better because you took the time instead of paying right?
Huber blink twice on the next podcast if you've been kidnapped.
Completely agree
It's never glass half full when it comes to microtransactions
In a different reality where this game is a new IP from Nintendo: "10/10, one of the best games ever!!1!"
I'm having more fun with this game than I did with BotW.
That's good for you, nobody is saying you can't have more fun with this game than any other, ya dunce.
Who is going to argue with that? Nintendo obviously makes good games.
look at all their Nintendo reviews, none are 5 stars including Zelda BOTW
I just don't click with huber reviews when they are read by Jones, I think Huber needs Huber voice.
The Assassin's Creed Origins review starts right....NOW!!!
Finally a good review channel which are not bot unlike IGN
