This thing is fantastic, several days ago I have buy one of this kind model pistol crossbow, Ek Research Cobra System 80lb.
It is not just a toy, in live it looks much serious than on the photos or vids.
It is very good made, very powerful and accurate small crossbow.
It is aluminum made, pistol grip and front-undergrip is quality plastic made, rear open sightis is adjustable and its on pretty quality picatiny, so its posible to add some Optic or RedDot sight.
It cost me, with extra 12 arows+shipping, all abouth 40Euros.
Till now I do soots only at 17m distance and it is very poverful and accurate, In the woods I will shoot at 30m distance coz i am sure it will be enogh power and accuracy for small game, even some midle game at 30m.
Excellente survival tool, from now it goes with me on every camping and outdors, I am so impressed 👌

I have ran at least 100 shots through mine with no wear on the string whatsoever. I wax it every ten shots and use rail lube on the track. Works flawlessly. I have the 80 lb and it will almost go through 3/4 inch plywood at 20 yards.

You can find a 120 Mini bow, as well as a string to match it and put it on the pistol crossbow shown in this video. And of course using hunting bolts with hunting tips increases the versatility of the tool

One thing to remember, not only do you need to wax the string, but you also need to lube the slide, just like full sized crossbows. Otherwise it tends to wear the middle part of the string down REAL quick. But they are fun. Thanks for the vid, even if it is a year old.

hey Richard, what a nice thing to say. I was very close to making the channel focus on firearms and BB and pellet guns because I got such a good response from viewers but YT demonetized one of my biggest videos which was on a bb pistol which made me decide to bac away from the topic. i also saw gun channels get taken down and it made me nervous. I still plan on doing more gun stuff but it will not be a regular item. What i might do is to make more gun videos and post them on my channel at odysee. Thanks again for the support, much appreciated.

A couple of things not only do you have to wax the string you have to put rail Lube on the rail itself to cut we're on the string it'll make your boat fly faster number two have you tried reversing the (prod) which is the bow itself in your bow to make it more powerful and if you did any problems with it that way ??

I would almost bet that people would have less bolt breakage if their targets were a little farther away so that the bolt has a chance to lose some of it's force during travel to the target.

From my experience with mine don’t waste money on half plastic/half metal bolts, they break way too easy. Get full metal or full plastic bolts and you’ll be fine. And definitely wax your string or it will fray terribly. Also invest in a red dot sight or a scope and your accuracy will skyrocket.

Bow fishing (?), that would be a "YES", But use a little longer and slightly heavier bolt for max penetration, I use 9" aluminum bolts of my own design with stainless steel "field point" style tips and a spin-cast reel with 50' of heavy test line.
One thing no one has mentioned so far is to remove the rear sight and reverse the way it is mounted in order to give you a longer sight radius - you will appreciate the boost in accuracy and the sight picture as well.
Any comments on changing the rear sight would be appreciated since I presently own six of these by "BOLT CROSSBOWS" and only the "Pit Bull" was equiped this way.
It's a simple fix and well worth it IF you plan on staying with the standard sights as supplied - oh yes, also a fine dab of brite yellow, gold, or red inexpensive fingernail polish (99 Cent Store) on that front dot will actually make it pop up into view which will also help with target acquisition.

Very nice crossbow for basement, or even backyard (if legal!). For sure, it is NOT a toy, AND in a pinch, it could be used for self defense! I’d guess the bolt could penetrate the human skull, especially if the bolt were made of metal like steel!! I wouldn’t trust plastic to do the job! Many years ago, with my son’s 40lb pistol crossbow very much Like this one, I would wrap the string with heat-shrink plastic tubing (used for electrical wiring) to keep the string from fraying, which it will do normally. I’d wax the string first anyway. Of course, you’ll lose a bolt sooner or later, so have a pac or two handy. Also, buy another string or two. At 81 now, with bad arthritis, I don’t know if I’d have much strength to cock a 40lb crossbow anymore, let alone this more powerful bow. Would most likely have to use both hands. Such are the “blessings” of old age! Too, you don’t have to worry about making a loud noise either, nor enduring heavy recoil! Great fun for sure! “Gesundheit”!

no Blake I haven't and it was the main reason I got the crossbow pistol. One thing that stops me is the only fish in my canal I can legally shoot here are the snakeheads and they are difficult to sneak up in daytime. I will go ahead though and make a bowfish rig and just shoot targets in the water to see how it goes.

    • @RobbsHomemadeLife

I looked into it and people do use common items as a wax replacement but they have flaws. Some people use wax or Crisco but it attracts dirt which weakens the string. Others use silicone sprays . Silicone and teflon is ideal in a powder form but the sprays contain petroleum based chemicals that eat the modern fibers.

Maybe a bit late now, but some thoughts.
For fishing you want a fishing line attached to the crossbow, right? Some other pistol crossbows have a picatinny rail on the bottom, where you could easily attach such things. From reading about it I think the Hori-zone Redback is the best pistol crossbow right now (it has the bottom rail). It actually HAS 80lb and delivers much faster bolts, while the Cobra and many others seem to underperform. And it costs only slightly more than the Cobra. I can get one (and probably will soon) for 44 Euros.
    About the ripping strings:
That's indeed a problem (with all traditional crossbows) and I tried to find pistol crossbows that fixed this issue, but really couldn't find any. Only the much more expensive compound crossbows fix this. The problem is that the bow is below the line where the arrow is put on and the string runs. So it always pulls the string down on the top of the shaft, which leads to friction and eventually the string rips. Seems the only way to counter this is to wax the string and to polish and coat the upside of the crossbow where the string runs on to have only minimal friction on the surface.
Another way would be to cut the bow in the middle, build an adapter that raises the bow part up, and screw the two bow parts to that, so the string doesn't touch the surface any more. I'm sure that is a thing for full-sized crossbows...

Robb's Homemade Life unfortunately here in the U.K Amazon won't sell certain knives or crossbows or many items deemed too dangerous for us law abiding people to own. Currently there is a law banning the distance selling of air rifles ( which means no online sales...unless their delivery driver is an RFD)and there is a proposed law about knives as well. The U.K sucks big time..for an example I cannot own an air rifle that generates over 12 foot pounds or an air pistol that exceeds
6 foot pounds ....unless I have a firearms licence..but I can legally own a crossbow that exceeds 175 foot pounds with no checks apart from being over 18yrs old..oh and I can not hunt any animals with any crossbow....ever...I'm moving to AMERICA if I win the lottery, the VERY next day.😉👍

To put the safety on after cocking push the little peg to the rear that is under the sight and is held in place by a thin curved piece of metal.. It is a peg that sticks out on both sides. if it is all the way back the trigger will not be able to be pulled.

to string it easily, take a length of paracord and make a little bit longer (as in 2 inches) string with slightly larger loops. Put that string on and cock the crossbow. Now you can put the real string on easily without too much strain.

Av had a few makes.but I like the sleath. Aluminium metal. As don't get parts chipping if near the front.£26 I paid.with a free set of 4bolts.but I baught more expensive heavy type kind.80lb pistol.but great power from it.goes right through a spare door u keep outside for to fire it at..a got a wee fibre glass plain type bow.30lb.but was even with blunt round edge arrows..can do more damage than xbow.at 30feet.bow just cost me £24 or around that.strong. yet lightweight.. No FAC.required for them..but illegal to hunt wildlife with.,you need at least a 200lb or a compound bow or xbow for a human kill if hunting wildlife .but great.better than air guns of any power..as pellets just squash up .no good. Get a bow or xbow.far better..if in UK..

that's the pistol with the plastic body frame. The aluminum body frame pistol is much more durable and absorbs little trembles while arrow takes off, which gives the thrown arrow higher velocity and accuracy. Also, this, is NOT a toy by all means. This is a 100% leathal small bad ass sucker....
