This video helped me figure out that my cam sensor had an issue and not my crank sensor. My cars first 50 miles were great but then I mysteriously developed a rpm sync error that cause the car to fall on its face at random times mostly near 3k rpm. I checked everything with the crank sensor wiring and replaced the sensor with no luck. Everyone said it was either my crank sensor, reluctor wheel, or thrust bearings. I couldn’t settle for the idea of it being a hardware issue on a brand new TSP 14k engine. So I looked at a small diagnostic log that showed I had 0 #7 events and 120 climbing to 130 #6 events. This gave me a strong lead to check my cam wiring that I had extended since Holleys harness was about 8” short of reaching the front cam sensor (wtf Holley!!). Either way I had taken the extra slack in the cam wires I extended and tucked it up next to the alternator to make everything look good. The EMI from the alt was causing the errors since I didn’t run extra shielding . Once I moved the wires away from my alt the logs show zero errors!
This is great. Well freaking explained. I have an ongoing issue with my Ls1 , and me and my tuner have not been able to figure out what the problem is. The car only bogs right off the line WOT or when rolling on the street then to WOT. I send him a full datalog of when it happened and his suggestion was to start by replacing the crank sensor. I did replace it but have not been able to drive it again due to rain and stuff here in Jersey the past 4 days. I hope that fixes the issue.
Took the Holley, Dealer, V1, V2, and V3 classes and this video is almost more help than those. Certainly more with Diagnostics types, luckily I've not had many issues with this and mostly use the RPM going to error to find the problem. Terminator X software doesn't go offline when you cycle the key and keeps trying to connect to the ECU while off, so it locks up when you shut off a new motor and go to check things or because of an issue. I tell everyone you called it Terminator because you have to open manager constantly and Terminate the software. This also kills a troubleshooting task we used with customers on the phone to see if they are losing power to the ecu. Would really love the 90's technology of selecting the folder where the Holley software works from instead of always in Documents. I want to be able to put it into a Dropbox folder or Google Drive folder. Right now you have to copy it there and if you want instant access to everything you need two copies of that on the drive. Been using this since V2 so I have about 30GB of old tunes and logs now.
Good stuff. It lead me to the issue I had, but I wish you would've included Diag #4, when I found that and compared to the rest it verified a lost cam sensor signal.
Hoping you might see this, as the advice im getting from holley techs and tuners has not been helpful. new setup, and on startup it runs terrible with a rolling misfire. datalog shows diag #7 stable at "1", but Diag #6 has a very odd signal, going from 0 to 1 and back to 0 2-3 times per second. Ive completely checked the entire harness, pulled the engine to manually check timing and physical components, and went together with new sensors, new coils and even swapped injectors with no resolution. Any ideas on what could cause this?

So that's why I'm trying to learn as much as possible to debug the error. I've done three X Max installs and they all have issues. Start with a base file and then work on the learn or just take it straight to a dyno and work through the data to get this stuff squared away. I do not like the whole logic in their approach and I especially don't like the harness, which has no labeling. Next time I'm going to point thumbs down on their product and use the GM factory stuff.
