Your background music reminds me of my first days of skating and watching your videos to learn some amazing stuff, some feelings that I forgotten about.
Another hack I discovered is taking your shoe off, placing your board gripside-down and rolling the sole of your foot on your wheel. This helps with muscle-recovery and loosens up the fascia on the underside of your foot. Like foam-rolling but for your feet.
I wouldn't recommend getting a skateboard too warm (e.g. in the sun). I had issues with a permanently warped deck because of too much heat (left the board in a car for 2 hours). And the griptape-under-truck-tip works better when the sticky side of the grip tape is on the side of the truck. This way, the sharp side of the grip tape "digs" into the wood of the deck. But make sure the direction of the truck is okay before tightening the bolts. Professor Schmidt recommends putting something like a long ruler on the sides of both baseplates simulataneously to line up both trucks before tightening the bolts. The guitar rack is a perfect idea!!
You’ll get pressure cracks quicker if you heat the deck too much, too. It inspired me to try a butane torch to melt the grip into the deck along the nose and tail with a new deck. Never thought of that before, and it might not even work, but I’ll give it a shot. My grip always peels back around those areas on new boards.
@@Dodes6040 I found out that the grip won't peel off when I grind it down at the edge completely before I cut the grip. I rub it with a round iron object (the side of the shaft of a screwdriver) until is almost separates all by itself. Then it will stick and not peel.
I started skating 2 years ago and watched your videos, I could barely do an ollie, but now I can do halfcab heels, varian flips and now I'm even learning pressure flips. thank you so much you have been a big part of my skating career
Yeah I love your vid‘s and you made me inspired to ride a skateboard I’ve been doing great so far I’ve been learning how to pop shove it and kick flips and you inspire me so much
1:23 Indy bushings are notorious for this and I've blown them before doing exactly this : cranking them down before they're broken in. And sometimes they will even somewhat harden on their own.
You need washers and bearing spacers if you want your bearings to last longer because they'll break down faster if you have the nut too loose. Also with these components, you'll be able to tighten your wheel almost fully while getting the most amount of speed out of jt
Another thing about the guitar rack: If you have a wall mounted single guitar holder, your trucks can hook onto it and it works well as a skateboard holder
Been skating for two years now, learnt ollies, pop shoves and kickflips thanks your videos. I recently broke my ankle and can't skate... Probably not for a year... I'm not sure if you have any experience with this, but I would really appreciate some tips on how to get back into skating after an injury. Either way, thanks for what you do, your channel is always my first port of call when I want to learn a new trick.
1:55 I had this same problem with one of my boards but this fix seems a bit silly to me. Might work for a while but I'd recommend just buying some flat washers and putting them inbetween the screws and trucks. Haven't had a problem since
the proper term for flipping your bolts like that is called "death bolts". It was for yes ollies but it was mainly for vert skaters to keep there feet on while doing "JT airs" now known as a bs ollie.
Wall mounted guitar hooks will also work, but obviously you can only hold one board on them. They will grab the truck hanger nicely and then whenever you go skate you just get it off the wall instead of having to bend down because that's just too much effort.
I'd have to disagree with the "not tighten the nut all the way" the wobbly wheel makes a jet noise, and the sliding bearing is putting random stress on the hanger and the nut, it's better to use spacers and speedrings to properly tighten the nut
YES! I was just recently explaining to someone how I don't see any reason NOT to run spacers, but lots of reason to use them. They add negligible weight and potentially preserve lots of life in bearings.
I’m a simple person… I wait for a VLskate video I see a VLskate video I watch the VLskate video I like the VLskate video I comment on the VLskate video Simple as that
If you don't want air bubbles, don't apply your griptape like he did. Either apply it from the center without letting it touch the rest of the board, or start at one end. Starting it flat like that, spanned across the tail and nose and then trying to press in into shape is quite literally asking for one massive air bubble
I’ve been looking for a rack for over a year now and you instantly solved my problem and for cheap too! Just ordered what looks like that exact model. Fantastic!
After pushing the bearing into my wheels I then tighten up the nut as much as I can to make sure the bearing are in the wheel straight, then I loosen it off 👍
Honestly I just take the washers out my trucks and skate them ode loose af u break them in mad fast af plus I take out my old bushing and put them in my new trucks if they still got life
i love how how he literally never changed his voice tone eve on the parts he disliked,he sounds like he's saying "well that sucks for you"in the tone he talks
Thanks a lot man, great content ! Didn't understood well the bushing setting in... First ride them as they are and then tight them a little bit if needs be ?
Putting your skateboard under the sun or giving heat in the skateboard is not good for skateboard, because the glue used in your skateboard will worn out because of heat, and will cause to easily chips your skateboard.
Just started skateboarding at the age of 41! You're videos have been a great help. Thanks.
I just started agin at the age of 33 not skated in about 12 yrs lol
@@kevine8722 Same here!

38 here, after 20 years of not doing it. Hes been a boon for me shaking rust. Also learned a lot of new stuff.

I landed my first Ollie today on my 4rth day of having a skateboard. felt amazing

Congrats, did you start doing em stationary or while moving. I’m struggling myself and I’ve heard doing em while moving is easier

Congrats dude! [: how’s it goin now?
Will use these awesome hacks!!!
5:56 So we're just going to ignore how he extended the background music? That sounded so good
Another good hack is putting a drop of speed cream in the pivot cup or soap shavings. When your trucks squeak, it's most likely the pivot cup.
Keep it up peeps. Don't get discouraged.
Game changer for me - bearing spacers. For only 2 dollars you get soooo much better feeling

It's usually the weather/temperature... not just an unknown reason 😉

Love your pit bull man. I got one just so she can come with me in skate sessions.
The dog is so cute
Nice vans!
Take the wax paper from the grip and lay it over your new grip on your board and rub until it heats up
After pushing the bearing into my wheels I then tighten up the nut as much as I can to make sure the bearing are in the wheel straight, then I loosen it off 👍
Beautiful dog
i love your dog
You could do that to the truck or just use washer in the scews that help the truck but liying them between the scews and the board
let’s go another one video ❤️
1:28 well that explains a lot
Lots of love broo
Nice video man!
dont leave a space between your bearings and the nut if you use your bearing spacers.
Just had my first ever big fall. I fractured one of my ribs and hurt my shoulder.
Omg, I have that "your board doesn't roll straight" thing, I'm so tired to fix it every time, I didn't know why my hangers a little bit not straight
Life hack.. wax for a squeaky board 👌
Honestly I just take the washers out my trucks and skate them ode loose af u break them in mad fast af plus I take out my old bushing and put them in my new trucks if they still got life

nice dog
Hi. I’m new here and to skateboarding. How are those Vans to skate in?
Not being funny but if you can't push a bearing in without having to use the truck, the bearing is the least of your issue.
What is your guys’ background music? It sounds sick
Awesome
If you leave you board out in the sun you can end up with sun spots on the grip.
Put the grip adhesive side on the base of the truck. I think you did it the wrong way. Disregard if I just saw it wrong.
Nice
Miss this kind of your content..
Yo bro, what is the music you play at the beginning of all your vids?
4:50 I did it broke the bearing. The outer part is stuck in the wheel now 😭😭😭
yo
I’m 33, just started skating again after like 18 years off and I ate shit on a Ollie in this exact parking lot 3 weeks ago 😂
Wow I’ve never been kinda early
I have a question i want to buy a gadget that can save mij bearings when its raining that i kan put it on mij wheels does this exist?
Putting your skateboard under the sun or giving heat in the skateboard is not good for skateboard, because the glue used in your skateboard will worn out because of heat, and will cause to easily chips your skateboard.
I heard eating griptape
I'm going to hate skateing very loose trucks
