Hey ya'll! Today on my channel we are reacting to some entitled customers that were definitely not right. I honestly think we would have no such thing as Karen's without the "customer is always right" rule. There's definitely proof of that in this video.

At a store where I worked , my coworkers were trying to explain a discount to a lady, and she just wasn't getting it. I saw they were frustrated, it was a simple thing, and the woman was not mean or anything, she just simply did not get it, and they ended up spending around 30 minutes with her (all with other customers in store) . A few days later the woman came back with her husband with chocolates , apologizing to my coworkers. Turns out she had Alzheimer's, begining phase, and her brain would just stop from time to time. She remembered they were very calm and tried for a long time , and apparently she had had bad experiences in other stores . We had a lot of older costumers , so we were used to having to take our time sometimes, but that one honestly hit us like a ton of bricks , she was so nice

I understand what you are saying. When I say Upper management, I mean those who're usually sitting in the offices and who rarely have any experience with actual customer services or dealing with customers out on the floors. All they see is customer=money so please the customer so we get more money to line our pockets. But usually the entitled Karens spend the least amounts or are always after free stuff. Like your business won't be affected by losing one Karen. From my experiences, most customers who spend a lot or are generous with money are usually good natured and understanding. Sure they would demand certain things but it's usually within the reason.

I worked at a bookshop and one customer was throwing a fit because the romance section "wasn't easy to find". My colleague pointed to the shelf right in front of her and said "ma'm, there's a sign right there saying 'Romance' ", to which the customer shouted back "well you can't expect people to READ SIGNS!!". Again, this happened in a bookshop. A place for people who, apparently, read.

My mom’s favorite threat (she was a “Karen”), “you’ve just lost a customer”. I told my mom once “Mom, this is a multimillion Dollar business, I really don’t think they care about los ya customer here or there.” after she told a Walmart that they lost a customer.
I knew I made a huge mistake saying that, but I wasn’t thinking. I just said it. She tore into me all the way to the car and then all the way home. She then told my dad what I said and he told her “ So? What do you want me to do about it? She’s right, Walmart doesn’t care about losing you. They were probably celebrating after you left.” Then he grabbed a beer and sat at the kitchen table to watch TV.
My mom and I stood there speechless for a moment and I went quickly to my room and about died of laughter. My mom was pissed and of course, took it out on me for about a week.
    It was worth it.

Some people that work at establishments that makes you not want to shop there. It definitely works both ways for the customers and for the retailer. My mom worked retail for 24 years and recently left. She definitely has stories to share. But she definitely talked and treated people how she wanted to be treated and talked to. I just usually just not shop there if I had several bad experiences with no cause for the action.

I worked in a pawn shop and once had a customer threaten to come over the counter. I told him that if he did that I would shove a pencil in his ear. He began screaming for my manager who comes out and ask what is wrong. The man said I threatened to stab him in the ear with a pencil. My manager asked if I did and I said yes. He looks at the guy and says "Do you prefer a pen?" The man's wife slaps the man across the face and says I am so tired of you embarrassing me. About an hour later he comes back and apologizes. I said how about we start over and the rest of the transaction went fine. They became regulars.

    This happened many years ago.
In order to pay for my daughter's cancer treatments, I had gotten a job at Kmart, working the customer service desk. Working in the service industry was a definite eye-opener after spending several years at home caring for my children, which recently included newborn twin boys.
I’ve had a few out-of-control customers, but if I had to pick one, this one stands out more than any other. One afternoon, a man came up to the customer service desk, followed by his two small children. In his hand was a bra. He explained that it belonged to his wife, and that he needed to return it for a refund. After asking for a receipt, which he unfortunately didn’t have, I explained the company policy, which was, without the receipt, I could only give him store credit. He became very agitated, and said that he needed to get the refund and that store credit wouldn’t do him any good. I was trying to be as understanding as possible, but I explained again that there wasn’t anything I could do. The only option I had was to give him store credit. That’s when he started yelling at the top of his lungs, while waving the bra round. I couldn’t believe I was seeing a grown man throw a tantrum that would put a child’s tantrum to shame. I couldn’t take my eyes off the bra being whipped around, as the man stomped his feet and continued to yell.
During this confrontation, several people edge their way toward the disturbance to see what was going on. After watching his tantrum for another minute, I had enough and told him if he didn’t want store credit, then there was nothing else I could do for him. When he realized he wasn’t going to get his way, he threw the bra at me. After seeing where the bra landed, he turned around, and with his two children following, quickly walked out of the store.
And there I stood, with other customers, staring at me, with a bra on top of my head. The 2 cups landed perfectly on top of my head with the straps hanging down the sides. All I could do was laugh. And once the other employees and customers saw that I was laughing, they all joined in. After a few minutes of giggles, we all went back to work and shopping. I thought that was the end of it, but no.
Later on in the day, the man came back into the store and walked back up to the customer service. This time without his children. With a very embarrassed red face, he said that he wanted to apologize for his behavior. He said his wife made him come in to return the bra and he had to take the children with him. He said he was embarrassed that he had to return a bra. He also admitted that as soon as they got home, his children ran to their mom, his wife and ratted him out. He said that he’s very sorry that he threw the bra and it landed on my head.
I couldn’t help myself, I just started laughing and couldn’t stop, especially when he told me the part about his children, tattling to his wife about his behavior. By the time he was done apologizing, we were both laughed about the entire situation. I accepted his apology.
You never know what someone else is going through in their lives.
And on another note, I’m very happy to say that my daughter beat cancer.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but this man needs to grow up.. first of all, he did all that in front of his children, who learn from their parents. Also, my boyfriend buys me tampons and says nothing (will actually offer to pick them up for me) and if I needed him to return a bra he would not throw a mantrum. When I was 19 I was basically running the family business after my father had passed away. I was pulling 60 hour weeks, and I was the only female in a full service gas station and garage.
Entitled customer came in and started screaming and swearing at my crew. He was quite angry about having to wait his turn for minor mechanical work.
I stepped in and explained that we would be happy to help, but he WOULD have to wait his turn. He turned his full vitriol towards me and summed up his tantrum with "I'm a close friend of the owner and you are going to be fired over this bitch".
I calmly pulled out a business card with my name listed as Co-owner/operator on it. I gave him my sweetest smile and told him that when he calls me I prefer be-otch and to get off my lot and don't come back. I have to admit that I miss those days. 😁

Here in the UK if this happened, the customer would likely be asked to leave the store.
It is illegal here to discriminate against a person based on their race.
If a manager gave in to the customer, not only would the customer be breaking the law, but so would the manager. No manager is going to risk their job over something like this.
But besides it being illegal here, it is socially unacceptable to behave in such a manner.
Other customers would likely come to the defence of the employee.

This was back in the 80's when I was young and knew I could get a job anywhere so I think I had more of a "The customer ISN'T always right." attitude but I took great pride in the quality of my service and drinks. One night shift a server didn't show up so I was waiting on tables and making their drinks. A couple came in, way before Karens but to this day I believe SHE was the queen bee Karen. After returning 3 entree's for various reasons, told me the Margarita sucked (which I made, and was known for) and over all bitchiness above and beyond, I got down on one knee and said..."Behead me now my queen, I can no longer take it!" She screamed, mananger came, meal comped, I was fired but rehired after they left but the kicker is the husband came back in and gave me $20 and said "THANK YOU, you made my night!" NO LIE

You know in future you can refuse. That's technically their job not yours. You are not obligated to do something you aren't comfortable with. I worked in a sandwich shop and we had a girl come in drinking. Which is illegal, we weren't an authorized business to allow alcohol on the property and also that considered public intoxication. I called the owner and asked if I should call the nonermgency line and he said to just go tell her she can't drink in here and she needs to leave. And I was like hell no. I'm not approaching some random drunk person, drunk people are unpredictable and I have absolutely no clue what kind of drunk she was. So we left her alone until she fell asleep on our table, then we called the police. Who showed up and did absolutely nothing. 🤦‍♀️ it wasn't the first time either, the police in the area seemed very reluctant to do anything. Lol, we had a guy publicly expose himself and pee in a family shopping center. And when I went to file a report the cop was like "do you *really* wanna be the victim here?" And I said "yes my little brother comes around here and I wouldn't want him or any other kid to see that." But I wish I had the balls to call him out for not wanting to do his job and protect and serve. 😒 anyway I got off topic here at the end. 🤣

I usually worked mornings so I had only heard of her, but this one fateful day, I worked nights… and low and behold Karen pulls up in the drive through and orders a Frappuccino with 1 regular espresso shot and 1 decaf shot (which personally makes no sense to me but you drink your coffee how you want) and she wanted none of the sucrose syrup we add to create the fluffy ice Frappuccino-esk texture everyone knows. I did as she asked and handed it off. Not 1 minute later she walks into the store with a watery Frappuccino (which is what you’re going to get if you put HOT ESPRESSO into ice with NO SUGAR to hold it together) and she threw the cup on the counter and asked “who made this?” My confident ass stepped forward and she DEMANDED I make it again. I slipped up and accidentally pumped sucrose into it. She stopped me the second I did it and screamed “NO” in the middle of the cafe. I started again after apologizing to her. I made 4 versions of this drink for her and she threw each and every one into the trash demanding a new one. My manager finally came out and said “oh Karen, so sorry. I’ll make your drink for you.” I started crying I was so frustrated and walked into the back. After she FINALLY LEFT, I asked my manger how I’m supposed to make that. And let me tell you, it is SOME MAGIC 3 minute drink (we are supposed to be 30 seconds to 1 minute for drinks if we can help it) you need to concoct for her to be happy. The accommodations baristas will make to this day are so incredible. I no longer work there and will literally accept anything I am handed by a barista at this point.

At my store surveys went against our bonuses and as long as no one is hurting anyone or threatening anyone or discriminating corporate expected for the managers to make all accommodations possible. I had to grit my teeth several times and just fix the problems. But I also wouldn’t stand for any Karen mistreating my crew. I lost a job one time over a Karen. I was way overworked doing the job of about 4 people by myself for minimum wage. I was working take out at in a busy restaurant the Saturday before mother's day. All the food was running behind. The managers and kitchen staff knew I was working alone. Dine in was also busy but we had 8-10 servers on so they should have been fine. I had so many orders that I couldn't fit all the tickets on the rails, and I couldn't fit all the food in the warmers, and more than half the food wasn't even made yet. I was telling customers who ordered over the phone that it would likely take over an hour for their food, even though it realistically shouldn't take more than 30 minutes to make, our kitchen was just that backed up. Of course the managers start telling the kitchen to prioritize the dine in food, and never told me, so while I'm quoting people an hour it's taking more like an hour and a half for each order. It was a nightmare. The entire lobby was full of about 20 people waiting for their to go orders. Everytime I go into the kitchen to pick up more food I'm begging managers to help me, and begging the kitchen to please just make my food in under an hour. Well. Here comes Karen. I quoted her an hour and of course she's there after 30 minutes, so she obviously has to wait a good while for her food. She was pestering me the entire time and I let her know we were going as fast as we could. Finally her food is ready and I go to ring her up and she demands a discount, I tell her okay but the way our system works doesn't allow me to add a discount without a manager scanning their card. She flips out and says she's not waiting any longer and continues to demand a discount. I'm getting irritated at this point bc I'm so backed up and other people are waiting. I reiterate that I will be right back with a manager to give her the discount. She starts screaming at me, calling me incompetent, and one last time trying to stay calm(not doing a great job at this point) I'm shaking at this point and raise my voice slightly and just tell her the same thing I've said over and over. She notices that I'm shaking, face red, and voice raised, and she goes "you must be crazy? You need to f*cking calm down" I lost it. I knew I was about to lose my job and decided that it was entirely worth it. I slammed her pizzas down on the counter and just said "you're a f*cking b*tch lady" and walked away to the kitchen. I found my manager and just said "I'm fired" and she was like wtf is going on. I told her and she talked to the gm who told me to go home for the night and we would discuss this tomorrow. Remember, tomorrow was mother's day and I was supposed to work from open to close, again by myself. I realized that they would likely have me work all day(because they wouldn't have any coverage otherwise) and then fire me at the end of the night. So i just didn't go, spent the day with my mom and never went back. They tried to call a few times and I ignored them. That job was entirely not worth 10 dollars an hour and I'm honestly still proud of that moment. F you Karen.

I got written up over something ridiculous once. I wouldn't say it was a karen event, but it was supposedly a customer complaint that started the process.
I worked a fast food place where we had management from 6 till 2, so there was absolutely no management from 2 till midnight when we closed. It often fell to the closers to be the one in charge because they knew what needed to be done in that time to be ready to close and be prepped for the next day.
Throw in a temp manager who opened while the normal one was on maternity, a wee bit of a lot of nepotism, and bad hires that lasted only a few weeks normally before cash was stolen or they threw a stink before walking out.
I worked evenings, 4 till midnight. The start of my shift was the end of the adults working save me and the other closer. The other people filling in were teens that worked from 4 till 8.
So one evening, i was frustrated that one teen (hired because they were the friend of a sibling of the temp manager) would do minimal work and leave a mess as they clocked out. Dirty dishes, things left out, etc etc. This night i would not accept it so i asked them politely to do the dishes and afterwards they could head out (as in, the faster you do it, the sooner you can go and maybe even go early). They stood at the register, staring blankly ahead, so i asked again, a little louder. They said no, i said yes, and they threw a fit that i was forcing them to do all this work and they'd never make it home in time and how could i keep a teen past their hours and so on and so forth. They would not move into the back to be talked to, so i had to confront them in front of the customers.
I finally told them to clock out and leave an hour early if they didn't intend to do their work so they wouldn't just be standing in our walking path (there's just barely enough room for 2 people to scoot by each other) and they left. I then asked the other closer to serve the customers for a bit so i could take over for dishes.
Next day, i was written up. Reasoning? I was angry in front of the customers. To my knowledge, the other person was not written up for vocal outburst, the excuse being that i should have known better since i was older (20 or 21 at the time) and not provoked them. So i'm fairly certain it was my coworker being a karen and not a customer that got me in trouble. They even went to the manager.

I tracked it for her and explained that since it was not Express Mail, it was not guaranteed to be delivered by a particular day. She was upset because “…he will miss his own funeral” and “…he worked for the Post Office for 25 years and deserved better treatment!” I had a difficult time not laughing at that!

I worked fora very high level cosmetic company. We had a very generous return policy if the products caused a reaction. We had a woman bring in a half used compact because she didn’t like the color. Instead of stating it caused a problem or even that she just didn’t like it, she went out and found a bunch of chiggers (little tiny bugs) and pushed them into the powder.
She claimed that the powder came with chiggers in it. The Counter Manager looked at it and said “There were chiggers in it when you bought it and you still used half of it?” Customer slunk away while we laughed.

No other bugs found anywhere. With that being said, one of my favorite parts of my job in the hospitality industry was when I was office manager at a very exclusive NYC nightclub. My proudest achievement at working this job was getting every single chargeback denied because I had implemented a bunch of policies to avoid people from being able to do this (down to footage of them partying it up with their friends and ordering the extremely expensive bottles and a bunch of other proof).

Entitled customers deserve everything they get. My favourite Entitled customer experience was when I worked retail on an army camp. It's a driver training camp so only personnel posted there (ie not on a course) was allowed to buy alcohol from our shop. So EC wanders in, asks for some wine from behind the counter. I ask if he's permanent staff (ie not on a course), EC says he is, so I ask for his military id so I can check he's on the list. What list? The one that got updated that morning of who is permanent staff and is allowed to buy booze 😏 so obviously this major, being on a driving course, isn't allowed any wine. He starts mouthing off about how he's a major, never been refused alcohol in a shop before, going to dinner with the commandant that evening and that's what the wine is for. Great! I tell him it's the commandant's rule so he'll understand why EC hasn't brought wine. EC at this point can barely contain his rage, but he gets on the phone, within earshot of the till so I can hear him. EC greets the commandant by name while staring me down, then blabla yes still on for dinner, as it happens idiot in the shop won't let me have any wine.
I wish I'd had a camera handy for the moment his face changed from cocky entitlement and rage to embarassment and shame from what I can only imagine was a verbal ass whooping 🤣
EC then walked out the shop without saying a word or making eye contact. Truly one of my favourite memories 😅

When the car drove away she tried to stop them, and upon realizing they were already gone, she slammed her hand on my metal cart and basically scolded me for giving out “too many sauces” as if we don’t get cases and cases of them that go unused. This took months was very complicated and the client had been difficult from day one. They finally go on their trip and 8 days in the Pope dies and I get a call from Rome. The guy is spitting mad because his private tour of the Vatican has been cancelled. I thought he was mad because they were not giving him a refund or offering other options. No the was pissed he couldn't still have the tour. So I explained about the Pope dying, like maybe he didn't know or hadn't seen the throngs of pilgrims pouring into Rome. Oh he got all that but he still wants his tour. The next 20 minutes was him ranting at me and my only response was "I understand but you see the Pope died". He threatened to have me fired since I was unable to give him what he wanted. He did in fact make a formal complaint and I did get reviewed over it. Had the opposite effect from what he wanted though as I got major kudos from the big boss for keeping my cool and staying professional.

Or was it like a respect thing?
Or did they just need all hands on deck for the next coronation?
The whole religions thing is not my cup of tea, so I really don't see a direct connection. Still wouldn't have shouted at anyone though, especially not someone who's got nothing to do with it...

When I was in Art College in England, I got a part time job in a pizza restaurant. This was in the 1990s, waaaay back before the whole Internet, meme, Karen thing. But this family comes in, and she had the Karen cut, it was a 1990s common style back then. Her husband looked constantly in pain (not surprised) and her kids were really quite well behaved. It ended up being my table. She wanted a window table (none available) and she did the tut and 'huh' thing. I take the order, husband orders a vodka and coke, I gave him a double on me as he really did look like he needed it. I get the pizzas, and bring the side orders to the table. 8 seconds after I turn to leave, I get the 'snap snap snap' of fingers in the air. Oh yeah, my hackles went up. I was a Northern Irish man in England, so when I get a bit pissed off, my accent gets very strong, and I sound quite rough / common. Karen had the affected 'trying to be posh southern English in a North West city' "my children's pizzas are cold, heat them up" no please or whatever. I whack them through the stone oven low bit just to heat up, these things were steaming, they were that hot. I bring them out and say "they are really hot, please be careful" customer care yeah. She said "my children aren't stupid" I looked at the husband, he was chugging the Double vodka and coke, I mouthed 'another one?' he gave me a very grateful look. She had inhaled half her house white, I said 'another house white for you madam' I wanted to say 'another cheapo grigio for you laydeh (lady in a local accent)' she did say yes please to that! Again, I give the hubby a double vodka measure. So the kids get ice cream as part of the meal deal, I ask the kids what flavour they would like, KarenMum talks over the kids "both will have vanilla, I don't want them to get coloured stains. The kids were wearing blue, it would look like a bird shat on them. Oh well, I bring bowls with extra scoops, I also throw in a bowl of mixed candy, and a wee jug of chocolate sauce just to piss her off. She said "oh my god you cannot even bring a simple order over like I asked" that was when my inner Lily Savage came out. I had been in my studio space in college since 06:00 and worked 11 hours at 2 paintings, and video editing of a short film. I started there at 18:00 so I had been on my feet for well over 10 hours, some chances to sit and have a ciggy in between. "Listen Luv, in case you hadn't noticed, I gave your very well behaved kids extra because unlike some brats in this place, they smiled and said thank you, and you have talked down to me like I'm lower than a worms tit to you, snapped your fingers which is a huge no no, so haule yer whischte and catch yerself on" (shut the f**K up and wise up) she asked for the manager. Who was a 6ft 4 ex marine, Scotsman, built like a brick shit house and fiercely protective of his staff. He came over, she did her Karen thing, he just said "I saw you snap your fingers, heard you talk down to Stuart, so quit talkin shite." her face was a picture, the Double vodkas lowered the husbands inhibitions, he laughed. She went purple. I waived his drinks and the kids pizza costs and made sure she was charged for her whole meal and drinks. Yeah, the husband paid for the whole thing, but I took the payment at the register desk. He said "thank you so much, I needed that. She can be... difficult" such a lovely guy (and he was pretty hot too!) I never saw them at the restaurant again.

This was 7 feet away from me. Such a classy lady! And before anyone starts, I am no one to talk about being a bit plump. Years ago I worked at a Burlington Coat Factory. I was finishing with my last customer before my break, and the lane had been closed, the stand with the stretched out band on it to stop people from continuing through was touching the next register base over. As I was finishing with my last customer, a woman with her little daughter in tow moves the lane blocker out of the way, eases around it and stands there waiting for me to help her. I told her, "I'm sorry ma'am but this lane is closed. I have to go on my break now." She has the audacity to say, "You have to take me! I've been in line for 10 minutes!" I looked her dead in the face and said "No. You just walked over here and went around the blocker and put yourself here. I am closed." She started yelling and swearing at me, yelling that I was nothing but a fat "b" and stormed off with her daughter. I hollered after her, "Nice manners you're teaching your girl!" Lucky for me, my manager witnessed it all and told me not to worry. I was in the right. Pauline was a good manager. :)

I work in a bookstore and we have literally had people reshelve books in places where they don't belong because "Um, this is where it *really* belongs, sweetie." Primarily political books get put into the true crime section, or get covered up with other books, which makes it very hard to find them when a customer wants them.
*Do not EVER alter store displays or shelving.* If you believe something is likely misshelved, bring it to an employees attention and let them handle it. And don't ever set up "new" displays or dump things on tables because you think it "looks better". I worked in a drug store a loooong time ago when Cabbage Patch dolls were super popular and rather expensive. A woman came through my line with her two daughters and had two of the dolls. It rang up to over $100. When I asked how she wanted to pay she said credit card so I waited for her to give me the card (this was back when you had to put the card into the device with the paper slip and run the slide across to get the card numbers imprinted using the carbon papers). She said I know the number, just write it on the slip. I told her I could not do that. She said she could show me her signature matches what she would put on the slip. I told her that's nice, but I would not be able to know that the signature goes with the card number she provides. She got really huffy so I called a manager who told her the same thing. She said she didn't have the card because her husband took it from her! Then she proceeded to call me several nasty names and said to her daughters "let's go girls. this horrible "woman" (aka 'witch' with a capital 'b') won't let me buy these dolls for you. As a Hungarian, with broken English, I was a target. With a huge red cross on my back, I always got the grandmothers of Karens. Pure blooded Karens...

On their own orange farm in SPAIN the oranges are brighter and fresher, I must bring them the same nice Spanish alike orange. I tried to apologise for the inconvenience then the male Karen asked about me. My name, age how long have I lived in the UK, so I politely replied. I was 21 by that time and I lived in the UK for 3 years by then. Then, they asked me a shocking question... "So you live here for 3 years and you still can't speak proper English?!" I had already been abused by Karens for months, my politeness switched off and my answer was: "my English may be broken, but I could tell you that you are a stupid racist dickhead with professional English if I wanted to. Turned around and left them with the best pride I ever felt.

So … when I was 15, I worked in a well known high end shoe shop here in Melbourne, Australia. Where I live, it is a beautiful peninsula, surrounded by both bay and ocean beaches, which I absolutely adore …. BUT, in summer the population over triples with the most horrible tourists and entitled brats you have ever seen in one place. Meaning we can’t get access to the beautiful beaches we live by at the hottest season of the year, it takes sometimes 10x’s the amount of time to drive anywhere, shops are over crowed and completely picked over before locals get a chance to do a “normal” shop and we have to deal with the rudest, ugliest people on the plant every, single day.
So I was working with my manager on a Saturday morning and by 11am it was already 40 degrees Celsius. That meant people were coming into the shops to escape the heat and it was absolutely crazy in store. My manager went on her break and I was left alone in the store for an hour dealing with all levels of crazy. I had at least 20 customers in the store and was get through each one in turn as quickly as I could. This big, fat, Greek lady, her older teenage daughter and her toddle son came in. The little boy was eating hot chips with sauce in the trolley and we had just had new carpets installed, so I kept an eye on him. The mum approached me and wanted help to have her sons foot measured. I told her that I was on my own and that there were a few people in front of her, but I would get to her as soon as possible. She then lost her mind, yelling at me in both English and Greek. I went back to serving customers and caught sight of her in the isle, take her sons chips and dropping them on the floor, the running them over and squishing them into the carpet, while laughing and speaking Greek to her daughter. I knew my manager, who was a very confident and “don’t take no shit from no one” kind of person, was coming back from her break any second, so I didn’t say anything to them. When she came back I quietly pulled her aside and explained the situation. It turned out, she was actually Greek herself and spoke Greek fluently. So she said she would say something and told me what to say, in Greek to reply. She didn’t look Greek and had fair skin, blonde hair and blue eyes so they had no idea. They came to the register to pay and as I put it through with my manager behind me, they continued speaking Greek to each other thinking neither of us understood what they were saying. She let them pay(by card, which will be important at the end) and then in Greek told them that she had decided that we didn’t want their business and that she had already refunded their transaction(she put it through and then made out it didn’t work the first time) and was taking the shoes back. She then spoke to me in Greek and I replied with what she had told me too(she said, “it’s so sad that there are such entitled pigs the world, stealing our precious air” and I replied, “ that’s offensive to pigs” which she told me later) We later laughed about the fact that the lady had spent over $700 and the refund would take a week to hit her account. They were furious and started to knock our displays down and broke a mirror, so we called security who then called the police, who arrested them and charged them both with criminal damage. So not only did they loose over $700 for a week but, they had to pay to replace broken stock, the mirror, damaged displays and for professional carpet cleaning for the entire store. Apparently they had been calling me a skinny little white wh$&@ and my boss a fat, ugly prostitute.
A little kindness goes a long way, especially when you don’t know what a worker is going through or has been through and they don’t come to work to be abused my disgusting people who don’t deserve any service, let alone, kind, decent service. At the time I was in a physically abusive relationship and was working 4 jobs and almost 75 hours a week to keep a roof over mine and my babies heads.
Be kind people, karma ALWAYS gets you. If not then and there, at sometime in the future 😉😉

The attendant instructed her to park over the line, take two spots, so that she would have the space to unload her wheelchair. She said that she received so much harrassment from other guests for parking like this even though she was instructed to do so, the appropriate parking was full, and she had a valid need to do so.

I've bought a few things in Canada with US money. Both were tourist places close to cruise ship terminals. I asked if they took US currency first, and took the Canadian change. I think they came out ahead on the exchange rates and by not paying credit card fees, but I would not have thrown a fit if they had said they could only take Canadian.

I work in a store on the North Shore in Massachusetts. A guy came in one day trying to pay a $13 total with a hand full of Looney's and Twoney's (Canadian $1 and $2 coins). He couldn't understand why I couldn't figure out the currency conversion at the register and just accept them. I told him to go to the bank across the parking lot and convert them to US funds there.

I work as a bartender in a pretty busy venue, and we get a mix of customers, particularly around Christmas with all the office parties.
So this guy - we'll call him Ken - walks up to the bar, we make eye contact, but there are other customers already waiting around him so I take their order first. As I'm working on their order, Ken shimmies down the bar right in front of me and unprompted says something along the lines of: "Hey, I've been here longer than you, and I want a pint of water for my friend here so you should just hurry up and give it to me."
It's not uncommon for people to be frustrated by having to wait a bit for drinks, so I just respond: "Oh, I wasn't ignoring you. I took their order first because they've been waiting here longer. I'll serve you in a bit" (I was mid-drink-making while this was going on, and about to hand him his water). To which Ken replies: "That attitude really isn't helping you. *some long winded thing about him and his friend* You should just give me the pint of water already. And I'll be placing my drinks order with you."
At this point I look at him in disbelief for a second, decide not to say anything, and give him his water. Once I finish the other customer's order I head over to my colleague and ask him to take Ken's order for me. My colleague comes over straight away, asks Ken what he'd like to drink, and Ken says he will be ordering with me specifically. So I turn to him and let him know that I won't be serving him and suggest he orders with my colleague instead. He clearly didn't like this because he started telling me I am making the wrong decision, that I should read over my contract, that my behaviour is unacceptable, and how I won't be working there anymore.
    .
My manager kicked him out :)

I worked at a theme park running carnival style games near the kids' rides. So many parents got upset when they mistakenly thought we were a babysitting service and their kids were taken to guest relations while security hunted down parents. It was always fun when after 2 hours the police would be called because we considered it child abandonment at that point.

@@ladyk5629 That happened to me constantly in a store I worked at except it was a *single* toy aisle, so there’d be about 20 kids crammed in there, completely destroying the place. It was in a thrift store, so parents pretended that the toys were put there for their kids to play with. Train sets were taken apart, boxes opened, puzzle pieces gone, missing doll heads, you name it. And it was a biiig thrift store, so they just leave them there for HOURS!
First we approached people that walked in with a child but were suddenly child-free, but that was “insulting.” Then we made overhead announcements to remind parents to remember their “children’s safety.” Yes, it was also for our sanity lol, but it was a valid concern too- the employees taking donations had to push unstable carts that they had stacked like Tetris (manager wouldn’t buy new ones) weighing up to 500lb down that aisle. It was the only aisle that fit those carts because they were _huge_ and very unwieldy. However, the manager no longer let us do that after a woman felt “targeted.” I then asked the kids to “treat the aisle like their bedroom” which usually worked fairly well, but I couldn’t do that after a parent complained I was “disciplining” her child (and I know which f-ing goblin it was.)
So we stopped organizing the aisle. 🤷‍♀️ We literally threw toys back on the shelves to “clean” it. I guess Mary preferred the store looking like a complete disaster and face a potential lawsuit than to offend a parent who didn’t care about the safety of their child.
Ugh... that store was a smorgasbord of OSHA offenses and workers violations. She specifically chose vulnerable people that needed the job and/or didn’t know their rights (or were too afraid to demand them.) Seriously... shame on her.
OH my God. Mary was a Karen... For so long I dealt with customer Karens that I never realized I worked for one.

I rang her stuff up, she paid and left with her bags. About 15 or so minutes later she's back, claiming that I didn't give her the can of pineapple that she'd bought. She's throwing a bit of a fit whilst I panic trying to find the can around my register as at this point I couldn't remember whether or not I had bagged the item despite being adamant that I was sure that I had. My manager comes up to see what's wrong after I holler for her and after having it explained she looked through the camera recordings. I had indeed bagged said can of pineapple and the customer had left with the bag. Customer continued to claim she didn't have it and that we'd lost a customer. I could only think "Go ahead. Walmart's just down the street."

That is not a problem, I’m just saying that as context that I know what I’m doing. But this weekend I had parties of 9 that went ballistic. One of them was threatening to hurt and kill me bc I forgot a tortilla, and when I asked them if everything was good they said it was, asked for the manager about the tortilla and I heard them all complain about the food 🤨. The whole time I was taking their order they kept on saying that I was gonna pay for it and all that. When they complained to my manager they asked for discounts. They made me seem bad so they wouldn’t have to pay. They ended up tipping good tho🤨😂. Then the next night this girl was drunk and mind you I got slammed. I had like 7 other tables and then this 9 top. We were short staffed. So obviously it was gonna take a little bit but I got them their drinks and orders on time. The drunk girl started to get aggressive and wanted to talk to my manager and she almost fought my manager. She got mad bc other people got their food first, which I mean, they were sat before them, and bc she was all drunk and her mind wasn’t in the right place she got really offended

One of the reasons for all the “let me talk to your manager” nonsense is because management refuses to empower their workers and REQUIRE that the employee refuse a return or a discount or whatever, and then when the manager is called over they approve it because they have that authority and they’d rather say yes than back up their employee.

1000%. Management creates rules that front line employees are charged to enforce but when said management is demanded by a customer, they cave to the customer instead of supporting the employee that is doing his/her job by enforcing the rule the management created. Great way to undermine employee morale and loyalty.

It is stupid how much rules we are said to follow but when a customer don't follow them and you called them out, you think the manager will back you up but they forget it and let the customer go with it. First, you are not even following your OWN rules, as a superior and it is not giving a good example. Second, customers like that know they got away and will do it again.

Code Karen - I need to adopt that. Once years ago when I was a teenager working the layaway desk at TJMaxx a woman had left her order for way past the month they were allowed to leave it without making any payments on it so I put cashed out the order and put all the items back on the sales floor like I was supposed to. As luck would have it this woman decided within a few days to finally come down to pick it up or mayke a payment or something. Either way I was at the desk that day and had to call my manager down to have her explain why this woman no longer had her order and was only going to get her money back. My manger (also a woman) tried to do just that in a calm professional way but the minute she got to the part where the order was no longer available because no payment had been made on it in quite some time and violated the layaway policy the woman erupts into angry Spanish. I don't know what was said but her anger was made clear when she slapped my manager. The manager's face turned red but she kept her composure "Excuse but you cannot hit me just because you do not like the store's policy." I mean the whole time this woman is yelling and losing her mind never once did my manager ever show that she wanted to retaliate. When it was all over and security had encouraged this woman to leave the store everyone working that day said that we would have looked the eother way if the manager had decided to hit the woman back. I myself told her that I would have found something to do in another part of the store of the woman came back and the manager wanted to exact some kind or revenge. Obviously today this woman would have been arrested for assault but it was frustrating to watch such a kind person maintain her composure at a time when clapping back would have probably been the gut reaction of us all.
