+Veronica Rossi That's not true :L I can understand him fine, I'm not native Scottish, I'm just English. So many accents in the UK, your ear gets attuned to it
Harry Gassis you don't count! You live on the same island and get used to it because it's a familiar thing. An American will find it had to understand for sure.
I just love him. Even if you take away his beautiful Scottish accent, he is just so funny and such an engaging story teller. I could just listen to him for days.
Kevin Bridges is by far one of the best comedians that UK has to offer. The guy is gifted. What he is saying may not be as funny but is all about his witty delivery.
Gui Arisato - AngeLord Your English is almost perfect. Your only mistake was in not capitalising the 'I' in "i'm". Not that it matters since the vast majority of Brits utterly fail to use grammar and punctuation correctly in both their spoken and written language.
I love the Scottish accent myself. Kevin is awesome. Funny but also humble and down to earth. Nice thing to do for his parents too. Excellent. Well done.
I actually find I need to listen to the cadence of the words more closely than watching visually, otherwise I lose the rhythm and the meaning flies away.
I've spoken English all my life but, when I had to give aviation English lessons to ATCs I discovered I couldn't get the Scottish accent. Kevin Bridges saved my career, I watched his videos till I could understand 80-90%! He's brilliant!
I don't know if Kevin was speaking slower or with less of an accent on purpose, but I don't get how people can't understand him... I'm not a native English speaker, I've never been to Scotland or met a Scottish person in my life, but I have no problem at all with understanding every single word...
Psuffix Yeah, well we're a small country. We live from export and import mostly. We even used to have the biggest harbor in the world (Rotterdam)... We start learning at a very young age. We're taught at least Dutch, English and German. But most kids also learn French and some even Spanish before and around the age of 15...
I'm from Washington State (northwest coast United States) and I understood him just fine. **shrugs** But then I have Celtic ancestry and I'm an audiophile with pretty keen hearing so... who knows.
My grandmother immigrated here from Scotland along with her best friend and youngest brother. I grew up around thick accents like this so I understand it easily. But the look on my friend's faces when they hear my grandma speak is hysterical. They have no clue what she's saying
I understood all of it, but it's a good thing I'm watching this from a computer. If he was talking to me face to face, I think he'd be a little unnerved by me staring intensely at his mouth.
I’m American and I have no trouble at all understanding what Kevin was saying👌 once you recognize the different ways they pronounce their vowels it’s quite easy to understand
His accent is thick obviously but it depends on your personal experiences (was in Brighton for 3 years and now I support UK market). I am Greek and I understood everything (although it is fairly obvious that he is speaking slowly). I find some northwest English accents more difficult than his. But if you have ever heard a Nigerian speaking English you have heard it all.
I don't know why BUT I understand all accents, Native or not. I understand everyone who is invited in the Graham Norton, show. because all actors with their accents come on the show and the more you hear the more you'll get used to them.
LOL at the subtle way Kevin acknowledges that the other guests might have some difficulty understanding him when he quotes his dad saying, “I don’t speak any German…” then pauses and adds with a gesture to them, “… or English” 😂
+Capital Bhoy Quiz shows mostly haha. Like QI, Mock The Week, Would I Lie To You (I just love David Mitchell), Old Episodes of Never Mind The Buzzcocks, but also Russell Howard's Good News, Alan Carr, and Graham Norton. Watching all these shows make me want to go to the UK and see the ultimate tourist lol.
Ron Howard was a very successful actor in his early years, and is now a multi award winning (including Oscar's, Emmy's, Golden Globe, etc.) filmmaker, director and producer. He deals with all sorts of actors/actresses with different accents and nationalities, as well as film crews. I'm sure he's encountered Scottish accents before.
@@dianemoonstone4715 I know who he is, I watched him when he was a little boy on the Andy Griffith show and when he a teenager on Happy Days. As a director, he's some of the best movies out there.
Right? There is no right about accents. He chooses to speak in his won accent and not to change it although I notice he tried to modify it by slowing down and speaking more clearly for Lily Tomlin and Chris Hemsworth. He seemed a bit shocked to realise they did not understand him.
In a previous video, they made a joke about how Aussies seemed to understand it perfectly. I have to say that's right, I see all these comments of "I dunno what he said" while I had no trouble at all understanding him.
Did he say his Dad got off at Innsbruck station? Or did I misunderstand that? My family is from Innsbruck, but I've never heard that the Orient Express goes through there...
Did anyone else feel Kevin Bridges is funnier than fellow comedians on shows make him out to be? Also I get he has a heavy accent but he his choice of words is pretty standard. I struggle to get John Bishop but not Kevin. English is my 2nd language.
Kevin should have toned down the accent a bit, I'm Scottish, I'm even Dundonian - and our dialect makes Glaswegian sound crystal clear, but he should have toned it back a bit. He sounded like a defiant Scot, the "If ya cannae onnerston mae it'z no ma proablum" kind of guy, but he should have recognised that he was around folks who don't hear Scots regularly, Kevin is big in England but even they occasionally struggle with his broad accent, the least he could have done is try to accommodate the others on the couch.
As a Hungarian living in Glasgow I’ve got no problem whatsoever understanding him. There are worse trust me... also what is the matter with you natives...
Sometimes I was cofused when I realised he spoke english. Not because I didn't understand him but because my brain drifted of to thinking it heard german, my native language. I couldn't even say why, it just made it once again clear to me how close english and german still are, somehow. Also didn't know the Orient Express left from Innsbruck, I first thought I misunderstood that. That's neat

Ahaa, I guess so. It is a good laugh watching these Graham Norton clips of Americans and their faces while the Scots/Irish guests talk :L
I just love him. Even if you take away his beautiful Scottish accent, he is just so funny and such an engaging story teller. I could just listen to him for days.
I find the Scottish accent quite beautiful
Julia gatto same I just love it
you from fife?
It can be, but not Kevin's! Alan Cumming's is great
My mum is from Glasgow so I appreciate it, but not when she used to shout & scream at us to stop fighting 😂😀
Thanks
Kevin Bridges is by far one of the best comedians that UK has to offer. The guy is gifted. What he is saying may not be as funny but is all about his witty delivery.
Poor Ron nods and smiles but he clearly doesn't understand a word. 😄
Can we stop arguing and competing about who understood what and just enjoy the story?
I had such a good laugh.
As a brazilian, with no english lessons taken at any point in my life, i'm very proud of myself for understanding every word! Achievement unlocked!
Gui Arisato - AngeLord Your English is almost perfect. Your only mistake was in not capitalising the 'I' in "i'm". Not that it matters since the vast majority of Brits utterly fail to use grammar and punctuation correctly in both their spoken and written language.
Eu entendi tipo 80% do que ele falou.
It’s not just Scottish, but Glasgow accent which is tough
I love the Scottish accent myself. Kevin is awesome. Funny but also humble and down to earth. Nice thing to do for his parents too. Excellent. Well done.
i understood 90% but i had to REALLY focus on his mouth. i find him really charming.
I'm french and i can understand him perfectly lol

AWWWW his Dad is adorable :D
What a sweet thing to do for his parents! I loved listening to Kevin's voice.
James McAvoy has improved a lot
Noice.
Looks nothing like him
+Templedelagloire *facepalm*
GantzIsSloppy shut up
I don't think he was intending to say that this man looks like James McAvoy but to say that the Scottish accent of James is much more understandable
I don't know if Kevin was speaking slower or with less of an accent on purpose, but I don't get how people can't understand him...

Where are you from sir?
Capital Bhoy Erm... I'm not a sir (Chiquita translates to young women)...
But anyway, I'm from the Netherlands.

Dutch seem to be really good with language. It's probably a product of your education.

Kevin looks amazing. Always liked him a lot :)
I find myself re-watching this video weekly. just because I love hearing his accent.
I'm American (not ignorant) and I can understand everything he says. You just have to listen closely because certain pronunciations are different.
Seriously considering moving to Scotland after hearing him tell that story. Accent is adorable, understood most of it.
