Intex Pool Vacuum Cleaner for $25!?! [Best for Intex Above Ground Pools] How to vacuum above ground pool. Cheap way to Suck up Algae, Leaves, and Pebbles. This worked great to suck all of the dirt, pebbles, hair, and more from the floor of the pool and you should add this as part of your pool maintenance!

Update: I've found that the best way to vacuum up FINE particles is to add the socks, as shown here, but use a lower pressure thru the hose. This helps to not over-pressurize the system, and the fine particles stay inside the socks :)
So just barely any water? I had mind running full and I think that was maybe my issue...?
Try Using a swiffer sweeping cloths instead of a sock.
BS DUDE .... STOP CONTRIBUTING TO THIS STRAIGHT SCAM ... parts are made out of cheap plastic that break upon assembly or as soon as water flow begins cut the SH!+ dude
just bought one today. I didn't think it would work but it did.
Could this work for algae? It’s the fine particles that I have trouble with.
You made this so clear that even I can do it!! Very grateful to you.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks man,It never crossed my mind about putting a sock😂. I had lost the mesh it came with.
Definitely give it a try! The included mesh is not very fine, even sand goes right through it lol
Thank you for turning me on to this vacuum. It is cheap but very effective. I was looking at way too expensive vacuums. Your video is a necessity as the vacuum did not come with any instructions at all and I would have never figured out the simple principle behind it. THANKS! You got a new subscriber. Like your style! .
Thank you for the awesome feedback! Yes, it is very simple, yet effective!
Another way to help with that is to walk/run along edge of the pool in one direction while inside, then get out quickly. Wait for the water to settle and all the dirt will be towards the Ctr of inside of the pool. Less vacuum time.
Cool tip!
Yes the whirlpool effect
True, that’s what I do. The whirlpool affect. Lol
Such a small pool
Man I would find this at the end of summer…thanks for sharing this!
Hehe prepped and ready for next summer I suppose!
Thanks for explaining how it worked , I’ve been so confused on how it actually worked so I been hesitant on buying one. But now that I see how you use it deff investing in one
No problem! Definitely add on a better filter...the included one alone only catches the bigger particles.
This definitely works. I purchased & tried it. However, my pool is too big. Too much manual labor for me. I'm 61 yrs old with mild medical is issues. But, I would still recommend this product for the young & healthier individuals.
Great point…Yes, it is a bit intensive and I would only recommend it for the smaller scale pools. I wonder how the larger scale versions of this same product might work and if they might help to speed up the process.
@@JamesFixIt I absolutely agree. A larger scale version of this would be awesome. I'd certainly try again.
Thank you for the update about things in the last year you found that worked. I’ve spent HOURS AND HOURS FOR ALMOST 2 WEEKS NOW with nothing but failure today trying to get this green algae particles to get sucked out of the pool, I’ve spent a week and a half killing all the green algae it all floats down to the bottom of the pool but I cannot get the crap out lol thank you so much for this I’m going to buy one of these cheap vacuums and then put pantyhose or socks to make it so the particles won’t go back in the pool etc. etc. you are awesome!!! Taking all your advice and then some lol
Anyone need a laugh??? 😂
Picture this….. I have 2 different garden hoses I have tried, kept changing the location up down making sure unkinked, tried all the hoses I have extra for my pool filter and also my 4 inch/4 foot round shop vac hose etc and I have tried every which way possible you could imagine to try to get the suction going in the hose’s with no luck!!!!! I’ve tried putting one end on the inside of the pool where it pumps wanted into the pool, using the shop vac to suck at the end of a hose on the other end to try to get the water coming, reverse the shop vac to get it to push and put that inside the water trying to get the hose to suck it through, used a dog grooming high velocity dryer to get it to push through the hose lol I’ve tried every freaking thing in every which way you can imagine and can’t get it to suck water and KEEP sucking water!!!!!!! For the entire past week I’ve had to double shock my pool every day to kill this, finally got the algae killed and now for a WEEK I’ve been trying to get the algae particles sucked up but if you move even The slightest bit in the water and stirred it up into a cloud and it’s impossible to get out because you can’t even suck it up anymore! My shop vac is only 3 gallons and with as low as you have to go so the algae doesn’t stir up like that you can only suck one time and then you have to empty the shop vac which is really really heavy! I’ve done that nonstop for like over a freaking week now added water back in constantly and cannot get this out because it keeps floating all over the place and then you have to wait for it to settle for several hours and sometimes double shock it again!!!! I was out here doing this for four hours trying every which way and got so aggravated I was fully clothed and got in my pool trying to get this crap! Nothing has worked so I pray to God that this does lol because I don’t feel like dumping 600 gallons and starting over completely. Keep in mind every single day I can’t get the green algae out of the pool it just continues the problem and is probably growing more damn algae from what I have read!!!!!!
Anyone else with some not funny at the time stories like this?
Also WHO knows exactly what I am talking about and found a way to get this crap out???
I just bought that one today it's awesome mine is 20x48 and it worked beautiful I just didn't put a sock next time I will it works great
Wow that’s a great size, and I am going to have to look that one up! The sock definitely helps to trap more of the finer particles!
Salamat Pare... Going to buy one too as have alot of fine particles, been using a fish net and aquarium filter but of course it moves the particles around so ned something with suction 👌🏼
Glad I could help! Yes, those fine particles can be a pain to pick up, but adding something like a sock helps!
I have the same one, But what I did was I took a bucket and put a sump pump in it , then took a short hose and connected it to vac. Now I dont waste any water and it works great.
ooh very interesting!
Me too, I was thinking about the battery version would be useful away from home 🏡
For when there is accessibility to a water hose this does a great job for way less 💲💲💲
I appreciate the link in the description 🙏
Thanks! I will probably try out the battery version soon as well, but this one has been working great!
Socks are genius I have been going through it trying to figure this out
Thanks, yes it works awesome for getting out those fine particles from your water 💦
Excellent, my sand filter gets the water clean but has not been getting the fine stuff at the bottom, this video showed me how a cheap pool vacuum really does work. Love the sock trick. You can get fine filter bags for pool filters (I have one now on the filter in my hot tub) but the sock looks to work just as well
Nice! I will look up the filter bags next summer!
@@JamesFixIt So I just ordered one of these I know it does the job but eventually I'm going to have to get something better I have a 15 by 24 foot pool is this temporary until I find a good automatic pool vacuum cordless I just hate that you got to use the hose hooked up to it but it is what it is or are you still using this or something new
Thank You for explaining in detail and the whole sock thing 🙌🏼🙌🏼
Happy to help!
I bought a pool ladder that came with a pool vacuum and I was looking for another good cheap vacuum and came across this video but this is showing the vacuum I already have. It is really good but I like my pool to be warm and using this puts cold hose water in my pool :-(
Great idea! Thank! I spent up to $300 on a Pool Blaster Max Li with all of it's accessories last year. What an absolute waste. Ugh!!!!!
Glad it helped, and it’s a great tool for not a lot of money!
@@JamesFixIt It should arrive Wednesday & I already know its gonna work fine. Thnx a million.
Thank you for showing how it’s works. And great idea with the sock. Really cost saving. Thank you!
Best video I've seen on the subject...and I've seen dozens of videos.
Ive tried everything with thede hoovers.. its like really fine clorine dust that returns again and again!
Ive tried ladies tights aswell.
I just siphon it out now i do lose quite abit of water but found its the most effective. Intex pool pool drain pump
Switch it on
Then off once it’s pumped
Then connect the hose to the hoover in this video and bang
Its sucks up sucks it up
But do lose 2-4 inches of water if want a propper job
I have actually done the same; when there is fine algae particles on the bottom floor, I will use my Shop-Vac to physically remove the dirty water. I cover the vacuum end with fabric, so that the suction is very slow, reducing the amount of overall water loss.
I'm desperately trying to get the last bit of algae and debris from my 10x30 Bestway steel pro pool. Thank you, because I got my pool whale vac delivered this morning and I was skeptical.
THIS is the exact video I was looking for to help me!! Very informative. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Same!! Ty!!
Same! Thank you!
Dude! I'm buying this right now! Thanks broddah 🤙🏽
Right on man! It's a great lil tool to have for a small pool like this.
@@JamesFixIt
Lol! I just bought mine from Lowe's and bro! This thing is simple but crazy good!
All love broddah! 🤙🏽
excellent video and thanks for the update on lowering the pressure on water hose
Thank you!!!
Genius. I have same one ..was wondering how I would get sand out..but it would work with sock worked like a champ.but it's back.
Yes, the sock is a lifesaver! I am going to try a pool skimmer bag next.
You need to add clarifier, it helps with the cloudy issue, as well Algaecide to help keep the algae from building up it’s how I was able to keep my above ground pool with crystal clear water all season long
Thank you for the tip! Will check these out for this hot summer season!
It would be interesting to try this, or the larger one, with a pump attached to the sock end, so it would increase the suction and would take all of the crap out of the pool and filter it. Would be neat if that worked, so I may try that. Thanks for the vid!
I'll have to look that one up. More suction to pick up the bulk at the bottom would definitely be helpful!
@@JamesFixIt These bigger Intex and Bestway pools with the default sand filters and pumps are too weak to use a vacuum, so maybe using this with the water pressure and the default pump might work. It's only $38 too, so I may as well give it a go. I'll let you know if I try it out.
Thanks for the help. I just need a stonger pump for my vacuum to work.
Glad I could help
How do you keep the sock on or the nylons, THIS is such a Great idea, I've been looking for a new bag because small particles keep going through bag(it's getting old) THANK You so much for video!!!!!
I put the sock on first, then the included nylon using the draw string. Tying a regular string or shoelace over it would also work. Thank you!!!
Thanks boss!!! Got the same pool as you!!! Ordering this now, hopefully it will clean up the dust particles in my pool. Liked and Subscribe bro!!!
I lined the mesh bag with a large cheesecloth bag. So far its working out may try a coffee filter setup next.
I used paper towels first, after seeing it in another video. Worked much better, but not perfect. Tried again later with a nice quality tea towel and that seems to be the winner.
Yes, I am trying out some other options this season. I did want to try out a Pool Skimmer Sock also!
So I also bought some pool skimmer socks and what I found was changing the sock out everytime I rinsed the collection vessel was a lesson learned I could tell just how much stuff was being collected. Just threw the skimmer socks x3 in the wash in a delicate bag and hung on the line to air dry. Give it a try hope it works out.
Damn. Ive just bought a $120 vacuum from ebay a couple of days ago. Wish I'd seen this video sooner.
Great tutorial!! Thank you.
You’re welcome, and thank you!!!
Just ordered, however the plastic that has the 4 holes keeps flying off when I turn on the water. Have you had that problem? If so what did you do to fix it ?
It's only happened once, but I suppose you could glue the two halves together, as there really isn't a reason to have them separate. Thanks!
Super helpful thank you so much
Happy to help!
I heard that if you line the inside and outside of the pool vacuum bag with paper towels it will catch the fine silt... I'm going to try it by stapling the paper towels in place
Good to know, and this is something I will definitely try out! Thanks!
@@JamesFixIt I tried it out today and it work really good until the 20-minute mark at which point the paper towels broke open so I had to stop but it did work
so itll full up you pool even more. how can i avoid filling it up and still use it
Yes, it will add more water, and unfortunately there is no way around it. I didn’t have a problem due to water naturally evaporating between vacuuming.
This vacuum does work well
For small pools not for big pools
@@deweycombs3676 well yeah, I only have a Coleman 26' 12' 52" above ground pool. I wouldn't be vacuuming a huge inground pool with this. I would get an automatic vacuum for sure
@@MrQna777 yup lol 😂
I agree, I am using it this summer season as well, and it's perfect for these smaller sized pools!
I have the same vacuum and it's pretty decent. The only issues I'm having is that the vacuum is pushing the algae/small particles to the side of the pool rather than vacuuming them up. Wondering if anyone is having the same issues
It's all about the mesh/filter grain. The included mesh really only works for anything larger than sand grain. Try using a fine sock, and there are different filter materials that should work as well.
'Yes ia
Could you make a video in how you keep up with your pool?
Good Idea! Also, I was just thinking how it's been amazing having this same pool last for 10 years.
Save work and get a vacum brushless like aiper
Yes that does work but i got mine for 14.95 at Walmart last year
Awesome deal! 🙌🏽
Hello James question. Do I need a building permit for above ground pool in my backyard. My pool is just like yours. Thank you.
Great Video
Thank you so much this is so helpful
Glad it was helpful!
Will it vaccum alage though?
The sock and the mesh bag should be reversed. Now the sock is catching all sediment thus the mesh is unnecessary. If flipped the mesh would catch big stuff and the sock small stuff.
Will try that this summer season. Thank you!
It’s $15 now on Amazon!!
Niiiiice!!!
Is it possible to flock the pool and use this method?
Is there any store or outlet here in the Philippines to buy this pool vacuum?
hmm, let me see if I can ask my family in the PI!
Works great 👍 u sir
Thank you! Enjoy!
So, what’s the point of the manufacturer including the mesh bag then?? I paid more than $25 on Amazon. I know all about the suction created by the hose. I guess I can create my own vacuum after all and save the money 😁!!
My water hose don’t fit on the fitting
It should. First time I tried it wouldn't fit. Pull back the plastic peice then insert hose and twist the hose in tightly
Love your pubg shirt
It's nice :)
Get a micro fiber glove from O Reilly’s
what’s that do
It works a lot better
Oooh, looking that up now TY!
Where to buy here in the Philippines?
Won’t the sock stop the big stuff from going in the net
Since this sucks up debris from the bottom, it stops the particles from going back up and out, into the water.
Will this work with not above ground pools?
Yes it will, but I'd only recommend it for smaller sized pools like this one.
Hi can you please tell me which new filter motor you use?(:
Actually, I am still using the stock filter and motor :)
@@JamesFixIt where can I buy it? 😍
@@celyarlene8268 Any pool supply store. Amazon or target might have it too, depending on your pool size:
amzn.to/3x00JoG
Cool!!
YES :)
How often you change the water from your pool?
Your not supposed to change water when you have a big pool
When it’s a smaller pool like this it’s a easier task 2-5hrs but on bigger pools I wouldn’t change the water
I tear down this pool after every summer season, but totally not necessary to do water changes, as long as you keep up with routine maintenance.
I bought the same one however the hose won’t connect to the vacuum do you know what the issue could be?
Get a different size hose
Yeah my hose won’t fit either
I’ve got one & it sucks lol 😂
Literally? LOL
If I have an above ground retangular pool with no filtered pump can I just use a vacuum to replace the pump? Will that suffice?
I have been wondering that
It would help for a little while, but won't be able to fully replace a filter + pump.
Without a Pump and Filter your pool will fail. Will turn green, cloudy, dirty ect. Water needs circulation and filtration.
The vacuum will only pick up debris that is heavy enough to sink to the bottom. You need a filter to circulate the water and pick up the small particles you can't see, such as skin cells, sunscreen, or other contaminants. You will also need chlorine to sanitize the water.
Where was this pool and how much
You can find it here: amzn.to/38lSZ9D It is usually $150-$180
i thought using a sock was genius!
The pool should always be covered when not in use. Much less work. The dirt is not from swimmers, its from the air.
Doesn’t it add to the water level ?
Yes.... yes it does.
What do you mean? I'm confused but trying to learn
Yes, it does add to the water level. I usually use this vacuum actually, any time my water level gets low. Kills two birds with one stone :)
It creates the suction by adding water from beneath the vacuum.
We didn’t even get the correct attachment for the hose
Oh no, sorry to hear!
Bro I see that PUBG shirt send me your gamer tag lol
This thing is absolute trash for a pool larger that a soup bowl.
