This was right after Prince died and this was Chris' tribute to someone who was an inspiration to him. You never know what you might hear when you see him live!
A must is the late Chris Cornell. Chris’ live coverage will tear your heart out. Although originally recorded by another, Chris Cornell, to me, isthe best for this song.

Saw an interview with Chris, where he said as a 16 year old kid, he was a huge Snoop Dogg fan. Imagine a Kentucky Country boy totally enamored by Snopp Dogg music. LOL

My folks were Mississippi, so I love country music, I was born in Michigan, moved to Pennsylvania at 3,my oldest sister turned me on to all kind of music, Chicago, Eagle's, the British invasion, Jim Nabor, Bobby Darin, I like Dean Martin, Bing Crosby, Jim Croce, Beethoven, Mozart, Savage Gargen,Cher,Cheryl Crow,Doris Day❤,yes this is strange for my family and friends, black and white 😀 and I'm a 66 year old black man, that thinks it's strange to put a color on music, but I understand it,especially watching Chance The Rapper on the " Voice " I for one don't think he should be judging a show because he doesn't care for certain kind of music, just saying. All music makes my heart smile

Michael Jackson was my dude until at the age of 19 got turned onto Prince in 1982. Prince is otherworldly with hundreds of classic songs. He’s at his best when he’s live.
I honestly believe it impossible for Chris Stapleton to do a bad song or cover of one.

Willie will be 90 next month and still tours extensively. Mickey plays for both Willie and Chris Stapleton. From what I’ve read, his priority is to Willie’s band. I’m fairly certain Mickey and Willie are the only surviving original members of the Willie Nelson Family Band.

I love this song. I first heard it by Sinead O’Connor then heard Prince sing it. Then the ultimate version in my opinion is the acoustic version Chris Cornell did at Sirius XM studios.
His version of A Mans World is unbelievable. & yes that was a harmonica & they guy playing it was Willie Nelson’s longtime harmonica player
Chris did the late great Prince proud. Chris just oooozes ,the blues. Chris was in the audience when the band coaxed him to sang It's a man's world by the late great James Brown. Watch the bands reaction. James Brown would be proud.

He didn’t record his version until after she did. The song was written for her to sing.
Prince didn’t release his version until 1993 and this was on Sinead O’Connor’s debut album in 1990.
@ Brian Prince originally recorded this song in 1984. He then gave it to his protege act The Family who recorded it and put it on their debut album in 1985. Prince did not write the song for Sinead or give it to her. She was able to record it because the record company owned the rights to the song. Prince then recorded another version as a duet with Rosie Gaines in the early 90’s that made it on his Hits and B Sides album. His original 1984 recording was released after he passed and appears on his Orignals album.

I can't remember the interview but it was also the time Kanye and someone else did some tributes to Prince after his passing and they referenced Chris and Corey Taylor, of Slipknot, who did an acoustic version. The paraphrase was "how you going to let a country and a metal singer do more homage to an artist than you?" Wish I could find that Short.

He did a "Tribute" of Aretha Franklin. Live in concert within a day or hours after she passed. I've seen him live, and he sounds better than studio. My wife and I aren't huge country fans but, missing him sing live would be like not watching Michael Jordan because Red isn't your favorite color. If you can get to a show you really, really should.

Please do the Steeldrivers "Can you run" song. It was co-written by Stapelton and performed live all over the country when he was in the Steeldriver Bluegrass Band. The lyric's unique perspective is that of a slave during the civil war. You will love Chris even more when you hear this song and you will hear what other harmonies sound like with his voice. I don't think there is anything Chris can't sing. To get a good introduction to Prince you should watch Purple Rain the movie. It will make you laugh, cry, get mad and feel so happy. With a killer sound track
