This is by far if not the best one of the best videos you have done. It was easy to understand the editing was flawless you was having fun i learned a lot thanks
The pull is so important. Burroughs has a stronger vertical pull at his weight than most Olympic weightlifters. I think wrestlers are the standard for pull strength
@@np494609Burroughs. gold medalist. Sadulaev, (multiple single hand pull ups) gold medalist. youre thinking pulls off the floor. im talking overhead pulling. there's the chinese and everyone else is sub par compared to medaling freestyle wrestlers
My son is a sophomore wrestler at Miramar High in South Florida. Last was his first yr actually competing and he came in 19th at 155lbs. We will start applying these to his workouts..
So do you do these excercises during a special period of trainging, or do you just incorporate them troughout the whole year? Thanks for the video, really gave something to work with
I would also extremely recommend getting a sandbag. The conditioning it gives your body is amazing, it especially conditions your body to withstand moves that would commonly cause muscle strains.
We didn't fully capitalise on the MMA trend as a sport, but this functional fitness trend might be where we find our market and how we can move laterally into the MMA space as well. What I mean by this is, obviously serious MMA competitors train for wrestling, but you don't have a bunch of yuppies doing it for fitness (and by extension improving the popularity and visibility of the sport) like those who have taken up kickboxing and crossfit. Also, we don't have young kids joining like they do in droves for karate after watching the karate kid or some jackie chan, bruce lee, keanu reeves movies. These are the spaces we need to enter and the people we need to attract and I applaud these youtube channels because I think they are making steps toward accomplishing that
Sometimes you don’t know how to use your arms It is boom boom 😂😂😂😂 Dane Miller is the best coach out there for both Olympic style weightlifting and wrestling 👍👍👍👍 A man full of positivity and motivation !!!
Hi Coach Dane. Hope you’re well. Training experience - Novice. Unable to wrestle due to inconvenience. Do you have a beginner wrestling strength program that I can use to get the strength/size of a wrestler? Thanks 🙏🏽
Absolutely. Try the Peak Strength App choose beginner and choose wrestling under combat sports and you will get a program just for that www.peakstrength.app/?YT&Video&APP&BestWrestlingExercises
Are there any exercises that target these areas but are better with body weight and dumbbells. Specifically those that deal with exercises without the rope?
I think I can name a harder single leg squat variation; put a log bar out on some safety pins, pick it up in your elbows, then do the single leg squat! Lurchers all day baybayyyyyyy (I'll try it out Wed as Lurcher squats (i named them) are phenomenal)
I’m a beginner to wrestling can you do all this exercise in one workout? Or you shouldn’t do then all together? Ps would you program help me train like a wrestler?
No disrespect… just want to simply the amount of exercises and complexity.. I’d personally run it with a push pull sled incorporating a variation of movements with that single piece of equipment. So many viable options especially when you incorporate a rope on it or a belt. For my lower back. Rack pulls from just above the knee is great. Weighted barbell duck walks you can keep it relatively light and it’s been proven with different studies the benefits of remaining in a squat like catchers in baseball. Another exercise 40yd sprints.. variation of pull ups using the negative portion. Half rep dips to finish off a day.. for not having much equipment to use this is a great plan to mix and match that I’m putting out there..
I think push strength lends itself really well to many martial arts, but most of it is going to be directed overhead or at least at an inclined angle. Most athletic push movements in sports utilize our mechanical advantage as much as possible. You know what that means? Incorporating legs. Of all the possible lifts, I’d say the push press is likely the most applicable. Now, there are some situations where horizontal pushing is useful. In BJJ, you often have to create frames from bottom positions and push your opponent away so that you can hip escape, side control being the most prominent. In boxing, you may gain slightly more punching power since the pecs adduct and internally rotate the humerus (the basis of the punch along with shoulder extension, scapular protraction, and elbow extension). Those aren’t the only instances of horizontal strength being useful. That’s just what comes to mind immediately. As far as the bench press…it’s great for building absolute numerical strength, and I do think it has its place as a basic lift. However, priority should be given to lifts that involve scapular protraction, too. In the bench press, proper form necessitates maintaining scapular *retraction* (“pinning” your shoulder blades to the bench), and while this is excellent for targeting the pecs and anterior deltoids, it takes away scapular protraction and the full range of motion of the push as a movement. A better choice would be something like a deficit weighted push-up. You could get a massive range of motion via the stretch in the deficit at the bottom and full scapular protraction at the top!
seems a bit overcomplicated at times. Would replace single leg front squat with just front squat. Lunges with squats. Rope climb with weighted pull-ups. Also bench is essential imo
i am a fan of wrestling but where i live it doesnt exist, i have been doing zercher squats and deadlifts, on dropsets more reps the lower the weight, my cousin is way stronger and heavier than me but in the traditional gym way, he cant stand a chance against me because it feels like he doesnt know how to use his whole body as a unit, i wish i could practice this beautiful sport

I just did this today. Good workout. I wasnt able to do the rope climb though. Upsettingly.
I needed this for BJJ thanks
This is great! Thanks for posting.
Thank you. I have been doing BJJ for a year and I will implement this into my high school wrestling
Thanks you so much
thank you, im currently doing boxing and wrestling and i wanna get rid of all non fighting exercises like bench press, curls etc
kneeling pull, rope work, bike training (maybe), explosive push ups, homers, referees position jumps(maybe)
Thank you for the greatest idea, it’s very helpful 🔥
Great list, but wat about a row/ horizontal pull variation?
Would it still be very beneficial to do front-loaded single leg squats while holding the bar in a Zercher hold???
So do you do these excercises during a special period of trainging, or do you just incorporate them troughout the whole year? Thanks for the video, really gave something to work with

do wrestlers emphasize chest training? if they do what sort of ones, do normal bench pressing translate well on the mat, any martial art really?
