HOCL (hypochlorous acid) will help heal the rash - and it also makes a great deodorant as it kills the germs which cause the odors.

A lot of natural deodorants have baking soda in them, and those were giving me what looked like a chemical burn. I started using a cotton square with very diluted apple cider vinegar on my underarms before applying deodorant, and the burn or whatever it was stopped happening. I can only guess that baking soda throws off ph and the tiny bit of vinegar corrected for that.

I broke out with a terrible underarm rash- red, inflamed, burned and itched terribly. I ended up using diaper rash cream for about a week to calm it down and then unscented baby powder for several more weeks before it finally healed up. It was a living hell. Thank goodness I don’t sweat a lot. Never did figure out exactly what caused it. I switched to a more gentle un-fragranced brand after that. Assuming it was the fragrance. 🤷‍♀️

Hi Dr Dray. Do you think you could make a video about ocular rosacea in the actual eyeball? Symptoms, management, triggers, and how to select products (especially sunscreen and mascara) that won't cause dry, prickly, bloodshot eyes by the end of the day? Maybe more of an opthamologists' topic, but I'm sure you know something about it.

When I was pregnant, I developed rashes when I put deodorant on. Depending on the active ingredient used, I would get large tender bumps under the skin, an itchy pimple-ly rash or lastly something resembling a burn covering my armpit. I had tried so many deodorants to try and find one I could wear. That was 2 years ago now, and I still have the same reactions. The ONLY thing I've found to work is Penoxyl face wash in the shower and Thai salt "Deodorant" out of the shower. I started this with the knowledge of killing the bacteria on the surface because of the cause of B.O. is gas released by said bacteria.

Hi Dr Dray, It seems as though you need to upload a PSA every day to stop the continuing misguided fear mongering re. aluminum in antiperspirants; also differentiating between antiperspirants and just deodorants (which don't even mask body odor in my opinion).
I also assumed that everyone who showers before bedtime uses an antiperspirant...even though they're not actually going anywhere! That's why when I do perspire (day or night) after doing physical activity I have never smelled sweat on myself. Sweat is a known irritant. I don't know why anyone (even without a sense of smell) would want to keep bacteria entrapped & macerating under their arms.

What about the detox scrubs they recommend for transitioning to non-aluminum deodorants? I used the Pacifica Coconut Scrub for two years. After that I started washing with benzoyl peroxide soap and found it eliminated odor completely. No rash during any of this.

I definitely have something going on in my pits that has to do with deodorant/antiperspirant and it all started during Perimenopause and has continued for 10 years, so far. I develop a horrible itch about 3 days after using the product and the itch continues for about a week even if I don't use anything else in the area during that time. When I first encountered this problem we were moving and I was under a lot of stress and my pits itched but overnight became scabby and so sore and itchy. Now, the only thing I know I can use is the Crystal roll on. I do think it helps with odor and sweat but would love to find something else as it's not always easy to find the particular brand in unscented. Might give your suggestions a try. Thanks doc, I've been waiting years to get this information in a Dray vid.
