To me the foundation looked a little ashy. With YSL Touche Eclat I wear B20 and never noticed ashiness. Of course, it is a totally different finish so maybe that is why.
YSL Touche Eclat is my holy grail foundation.. it has the most beautiful finish ever..It has usurped my previous favorite -- Guerlain's Lingerie De Peau ... but the long wear time of this one - has me so curious...I think it looked pretty on her - I didn't see ashiness.

True... But it's not just about getting your photo taken by a photographer who uses natural light, like just normal photos w/ a flash like on a phone :)

OMG youre so right about the it not being flash friendly! I actually returned mine because I thought I got the wrong color but ended up choosing the same color to replace it! LOL I do love it though and yes it makes your skin look flawless!!!!
ive always luved the YSL touche eclat foundation as my holy grail, and now the YSL fusion ink is my new fav, so light, lasts all day, and looks flawless. i have normal skin, and my skin looks so healthy and glowy with this foundation, A++++++ and i think judy may have got a shade too light, i wear almost the same shades in most of her foundations and i wear BD50, which is a tad darker yellow toned, and it has an SPF too so flash photo does look a tad white, so i suggest getting color matched at the store or ask for a sample
I would love to see a review/impressions of the Dior Star foundation that came out recently. PS I LOVE that you do the "flash photography" test on the foundations you review, sooooo helpful!!
I have dry skin and the lady at Sephora said that it was amazing for dry skin so I got a sample. Thank God I did not spend the $60 for this. right away I loved it. My skin was even, flawless and the finish is fanstactic. But it really sticks to my dry spots and emphasised my pores. If you have dry skin I suggest getting a sample first, especially with it being so expensive. I really wanted to like it but I'm glad that I don't so I'm paying so much for foundation!
This is my new holy grail foundation! I purchased B50 at first and returned it for BD50...its warmer but same color level, so you may want to try BD50 too :) I had same issue, I thought was a match then kept 2nd guessing myself!

I used to get dry spots as well, I asked a make up artist and they mentioned that brushes make the dry spots more significant. Also, if using a brush its better to tap the foundation on and not sweep it over the skin. Maybe this is why it clung to the dry spots. Hope this is of help!!
Good review Judy, YSL is going to always run around $50-$60, but if you moisturize your dry spots, use coconut oil at night, your skin will be well hydrated...and also, after you eat, if your foods is fatty, or oily, your skin is going to get oily, so after dinner, I think your skin changed..other than that, this is a foundation is good for mature skin, because it does do great with balance skin color and imperfections and fine lines...most people go to office for work, at 8am-off at 5pm, out to dinner, or lunch, might have a different outcome in reviews, but you being a stay at home mom, you of course are going to wipe it off on the kids, holding them a lot...maybe next time, take the kids, go outside, sunshine,go to the park with your reviews, or shopping all day.

Great review, I was going to pick this up this week. But I have dry skin and I know this would be a nightmare for my skin type. I bet oily skin this would be great for. It has a beautiful feel though when I used it in Sephora.

I wouldnt recommend this to you, i have had this for over a month(since it came out here in the uk bit earlier), and it really emphasised my dry patches until my skin really started to produce oil. I would really recommend Bourjois Healthy Mix and Bourjois Happy Light, they are amazing and they own Chanel, so their foundations are very very very similar

I think I prefer artificial light Judy, I can sort of tell the difference between the foundation and your skin, but the lights would showcase it better.
You should try a primer! I have two that Never heard of and they're my huge grail - and km a oily beast NOTHING high end to drug store worked until I tried EVE PEARL and Julep- yes the same nail polish company makes face primers and maybe makeup- I never looked up makeup for em tho.

I'm actually kind of disappointed by this foundation, from your video. For $60, I would expect to stay matte all day, especially with a foundation geared toward oily skin. I know you didn't explicitly say it is for oily skin, but if it clings to and peels on small dry spots, it certainly isn't for normal to dry skin! Thank you for your review! I always love how you do multiple foundation check-ins throughout the day! It gives a lot more information about the wear than just a before and after.

Girl it's not only "flash photo" friendly but it's NOT camera friendly! Period. It completely made your face look ghostly. This foundation not worth 60 and not even 20. Neutrogena healthy skin or Clinique pore minimized is way cheaper and looks flawless.
I received a sample of this, in a shade lighter (B30) than I am in the Touché Eclat (B40), I had the same issue with the dry spots but it felt amazing. Unfortunately, the shade started off fine but then I looked so much darker. Dunno what happened, if it oxidized or what... But maybe I can test a shade lighter and see what happens. Overall, formula was great and so was the feel of it on the skin.
I like that you blotted the foundation with a tissue. Mine always seems rub off even when I slightly blow my nose. I wonder how this compares the Maybelline one with the similar dropper.

This foundation looks stunning on you! I have dry combo skin, so I think this would be too matte for me. I would totally be willing to spend the money on a great foundation that suits my skin type, but I really haven't found the perfect one.

@Mercedes J, no I wouldn't think so. It has a very dewy and radiant finish. If you're oily, I think it would just make it worse.

here's the thing, most photographers don't use flash photography. Natural light is always the preferred route, so does that really matter to most?

The flash photo is going to look different because it contains SPF and that is usually a normal thing. I loved the finish!
