I remember being so perplexed watching the 2004 USA team struggle in the Olympics. Team was loaded with talent they had ZERO excuses of not getting Gold. Just a complete failure smh
Good video ... I definitely think it was Larry Brown that should take a big part because he was too old school and refused to adjust to the changing times of the international game
I blame them bringing in rookies and lower talent. I understand that our best didn't want to come but if they had, Larry Brown would have been killing it as a coach.
I'll never search another video about this topic because reason #1 is THE BIGGEST REASON it's ALWAYS been the biggest reason and people don't like to say it
I’ll put one more reason. Better Defense. If you watch USA vs Argentina it was difficult to defend Argentina (it even reached 16 pt lead). Arguably this shares space with #3 team chemistry (more time better defensive chemistry).
Fun fact- Argentina shot only 29% from 3 point range in the olympics prior to the semifinal vs USA. Another fun fact- Puerto Rico blew out USA very easily in the olympics for the easy victory. To make matters worse, Puerto Rico is not even a country.
The competition is so much better. The other countries are greatly improved. They may all be NBA players, simply because they can't all play in the league, but they are all capable of playing in the NBA. America has to take the basketball program seriously if they want to stay at that 1 spot.
Baron was 2nd while TMac was 4th in 3 point made in 2003 2004. Although they are both volume shooter, but they are much better shooter than the others in the roster.
@@basketballglory295 everybody else on the team was already volume shooters lol adding them wouldn’t have helped with shooting but I agree Larry brown was the number one reason
@@younglove3362 baron Davis & tmac were NOT snipers lol they were scorers ..snipers are guys like ray Allen Reggie miller glen rice del curry steph klay & guys like that which NOBODY would ever accuse those 2 of being lol
I believe the Reasons were Spot On. Even at a depleted state, the full potential of this STILL very strong team was not optimized by Brown and it was just SO unfair to the players to receive quick judgement & criticisms which were shallow at best.
That was the reason. So much was going on at the time. Nba also trying to find the next who, coach, franchise and player A lot was going on but clearly they gained control back Tbh tho i don't see america winning gold in 2028 Gonna miss Bron and Steph big time
European teams were hungry at that time, like if you saw how tireless argentina wasz that argentina could also beat the current nba dream team of 2024, but euro teams nowadays dont really have that much hunger anymore
These guys are not hungry for gold medals. It’s really a competition for them to lose. There isn’t much to gain since they’re expected to win gold. Anything less is a failure. I suppose that is why it’s easy to say no. The format of the Olympics kind of helps less skilled teams that might get lucky. For example, you play best of 7 for the NBA championship. Imagine if Argentina had to beat USA 4 times out of 7.
Reason # 1. That awful Dwayne Wade was terribly outplayed at his position. Reason #2. A.I. isn’t a good team player. Reason #3. Stephon maubury isn’t a good team player. Reason #4. Larry brown is an overrated coach. Reason #5. Carmelo Anthony is extremely overrated.

In decades time USA Basketball is gonna be like England Football. World caught up to the sport, to the point the home country of the game loses in international tournaments.

Stu Jackson doesn't get enough blame for constructing this team
That 1992 team was definitely 1 for the ages...
this is honestly a great video. All points are valid and doesn't undermine the capabilities of the players but rather some other outside factors
