Truly staggeringly beautiful. My brother John and I planned this for 2020 but covid came along and stopped us. In 2022 we decided on a tour of the Alps with plans for Norway on hold for 2023. Our John, 57, devastatingly and suddenly, died just a week before our Alps trip, our bikes rides together ended forever. And my second brother Tony, 41, died on his bike in 2007. Both of them gone. I shed tears watching this. My heart burns with pain that they won't be with me when I do it next year. But I will do it next year. Thank you.
It's inspiring to see so many cyclists come together to conquer such a famous and challenging road in Norway. The drone footage added another level of stunning visuals to the already breathtaking scenery. Great job capturing the essence of this epic cycling adventure! 🙌🤩
By far one of the most serene and spectacular cycling video so well captured that few scenes are worth an award. The score added icing on the cake and I enjoyed every bit of it. I literally got lost into it and still there. Wow!
I only can say wow wow wow🤩, incredible what a stunning shots/views 👍 this ride was out of this world ☺️ respect for all the cyclists and you Matthew for making this real and taking us from all around the world with you on this epic event, with this video. We were at Trollstigen a year to early Sept. 2022 🤣🤣
I did this ride on my MTB, starting and ending in Åndalsnes, 14 years ago. On the way up I noticed that my disc brakes needed adjustment (I had almost no braking ability) so I decided to do that before going back downhill. It turned out that the brake pads were actually all gone! I had to ride down again with my seat very low, one foot on a pedal and the other foot trailing/dragging along the asphalt. Since this was in the middle of the day, in July, I also had to avoid all the cars, trucks and buses. When I got back down I rode directly to a local bike shop and got my brakes fixed! It was still a beautiful trip, made even more memorable by that little technical issue...
Wow such incredible drone shots, really captured the essence of the day. Thank you again for organising the event, it was a real pleasure to be out there riding with this great group of cyclists
Visually stunning! And with the score meditative. Also fun to see so many choose to go both ways…..what a workout. I like both your styles: the newer more cinematic videos and your historic narrated first person perspective. Very cool! Thanks!
WOW !!! 🚵♂️ Thanks very much Matthew, you've done it again! 🚴♂️👍 Edit; just reached the end where it asks "The World's Greatest Road?" I've cycled in many different countries and I can't remember a tarmac road that beats this one for scenic beauty!
I've been trying very hard to reduce my 'screen time' recently. It's very difficult when such spectacular views keep popping up on youtube. Thankyou Matthew ✌️
Great video Matthew, would have loved to be there but was a few 100km north near to Brønnøysund. Autumn is a fantastic time for cycling in Norway, less people and amazing colours. Your video brings back amazing memories. A few years ago there was a sign in the cafe at Gudbrandsjuvet "Os gallwch ddarllen hwn gallwch gael coffi am ddim" They had a Welsh guy working there, I had a free coffee 😊 If you organise a similar event next year I'm going to try and be there, old, slow but I can do it 😅
Good work son. Nominate a day each year, and let the people come eg the first Saturday in October (for example). Work in with other major events eg The Oresund Bridge Run June 2025. I am coming over to do that, so a week later would be good for your ride.

On top of your regular videos, more like this would be incredible. The length of the vid, drone footage, plus tidbits of info are fantastic.

Just what I needed today, thank you ❤
Lucky 43 pioneer group riders! Wow! Good bike mojo to get the weather right.
It's always sunny at Trollstigen. 😅
You've outdone yourself Matthew! Unbelievable... Can't wait to ride this myself.

There is one bad thing about this video…. I can only like it once.
That makes me want to ride in Norway. Such a beautiful video.

Beautiful! Thank you.
Trollstigen: 1

(Great drone footage❤)
Trollstigen is been smother already, in the 1990 it was more like a road you find on Senja, Troms😃

Speed doesn't matter; you're welcome to join!

"The old road to the left..." yet I have cycled on that (undamaged) section in 1998.
Cycling in the metaverse
