I am almost 80 years of age. I miss hiking and exploring more than I can say. I have watched this video five times (so far) and found something new and fascinating each time. Harmen, you are a genius and an incredible photographer and videographer. There are no words to capture your work and your tenacity. Thank you for keeping me in the bigger world in a beautiful testimony to the power and grandeur of nature and places I will never actually see. Godspeed !
Nice to read. We all should be clear, that life is relatively short and we have to use our life time and fullfil all dreams, wishes and goals, whenever we have the chance, time and money to. Never postpone them until old age when it is impossible to do tings like traveling to the beautiful spots of the planet. I hope, you enjoyed your life and ride until now. Are there any advices from you to younger people?
I too am 80 and cant hike any longer. The other 80 year old stated it perfectly. I now spend much time watching others go where I wish I could still go. Thank you for a wonderful presentation.
This video is a good reminder that even though there is a lot of ugly/bad things in the world there are still gems like this that can give you a sense of beauty without even saying a word.
Dear Harmen, it was your films, the way you presented beauty of nature and your courage what pushed me and inspired me get out of my shell and try backpacking out of UK. So when I found Long crossing Lofoten trail I wandered how comes to it that you didn't hike this trail yet. Now is over 7 months I'm planning this trip and I seen your post you done Lofoten I was super excited to see your film. Firstly because I knew that you will do your own trail and I will see Lofoten in its most beauty. Secondly because I will go by end of August hike from Moskenses to Svolvaer. So now each night I close my eyes I can see what is waiting for me from your footage. So beautiful so breath taking. You giving me so much courage and inspiration that I can make it. Thank you so much Harmen for your beautiful work. Lucy
Hi Lucy, thanks for sharing. I feel humbled I was a small part in all this. Hope you get to enjoy the outdoors there. And shoot me a DM on Instagram if you need help with anything. Have fun!
I rarely make comments on RUclips, but the way you make every scene possible is beyond words. Please keep doing what you do because you are such an inspiration for millions of us🙏
I absolutely love this. On snowy mornings, my husband and I like to sit down with a cup of coffee and ease into our day watching your videos. This morning, I turned your Norway hike on in the background, and my kids ended up in the living room watching it, and we all had a beautiful start to our day together with gorgeous views, soothing music, and the wonder of God’s nature that you capture so beautifully with your lens. What jaw-dropping scenery. What amazing landscapes God made! This video will always be my favorite of your hikes. I adore the snapshots at the end, and the music you put with it always makes me want to cry. My family’s favorite part of all your videos is the Bible verse reference you put at the end. We always look it up together, and the one you put at the end of this video fits so beautifully. But RUclips always cuts off the video a split second after the verse shows up on the screen, so we always have to rewind multiple times until we can catch it. Can you put the verse references in a couple seconds earlier so they don’t get cut off by RUclips so quickly? We love how you give glory to God with all your hikes!!
The Lofoten Islands 😮 What does that beautiful serene place NOT have to offer ? Turquoise waters, snow, green mountains, beaches & plenty of unique campsites for you to show us -- above & below the clouds. I am speechless & will certainly have to watch this again. Thanks, Harmen. YOU ARE THE BEST!! Be safe in your travels. 🙋🏼♀️👍🏻🇺🇸
Had an incredibly meditative experience watching this video -- it got me back in touch with my sense of wonder and awe and curiosity. Thank you to the algorithm gods for showing this on my homepage!
Greetings Harmen . All the gratitude and praise i have seen in the comments is well deserved . Well done . You have accomplished the impossible . You have brought real awe and rapture through the medium of tech . Skill , vision , art ... shamanic art . You are not just inspiring people you are healing people. You bring sacred silence , stillness , union and communion .... where language fails . I did solo hikes in the 70s and 80s - Yosemite [!] Iceland [all seasons] Mt Kinabaloo [Borneo] Mt Apo [Mindanao] , no phone, internet, gps etc , unbearable bliss [and horror/terror] . They still feeding me and made me rich . You are a rich man and you are sharing it . I have seen 6 of your films so far and each has made my heart swell . Thank you . bless . Love to you and good luck ...
Beautiful video! I appreciate the level of creativity (and good ol' fashion work) that went into this. I'm headed to Lofoten mid August for a solo hiking trip as a 30th bday present to myself. Thanks for the preview. Happy travels to you!
Just what I needed today… a little Harmen Hoek. 🙏 This is some National Geographic level production here. One day soon you are going to bust through the algorithms and make a large presence!! Great job mate. Keep shining and stay blessed!
You have lived, Harmen. You really have lived. It's a wonderful thing. I love how you are able to get up in the dark and start your day. You are not a man who sleeps through his dreams~ you get up and make them come true.
This isn’t just a film by Harmen, it is an experience for us all. Well done and thanks for the journey. You are the most admired man on Earth. Didn’t know Lofoten had its own “Half Dome @ 22:07.
Another masterpiece Harmen, 30 minutes of breathtaking cinema photography. This has got to be the best short film of its kind that I've ever seen. Stunning.
There is the sea, vast and spacious, teeming with creatures beyond number, living things both large and small. Thank you for your beautiful work , Harmen!
Breathtakingly beautiful as always. Incredible photography and perfect music. Amazing shots of the sun low in the sky. This is where my great grandmother is from. With much gratitude. May you have continued safe journeys. Blessings
I work in the creative/advertising industry and I get to work with a lot of talented DPs, video content creators and photographers. You are more talented than any of them. I hope you get an agent and are able to create beautiful images in the advertising world. But do not let them influence you or limit your unique vision. I don't see any trendy filters or over saturation in your images. All of your images are very real, and you can see the honesty. You are painting with your vision and light. I have been to Lofoten. I know what that light looks like. You did it justice.
Congrats, Harmen! You've created yet another masterpiece! And Norway, oh boy, do I love this country! You can't believe the beauty of it until you actually see it with your own eyes. No words can describe it, it's like God throws a piece of land from Heaven! That and your excellence in both cinematography and photography, make this one of the best hiking footage I've seen in my life, breathtaking!
Harmen, I just finished watching this film. I hope you never quit hiking and producing these films. Breathtaking and submersive, it’s incredible how you bring us into your space. I love watching your pace, your coffee making and the reading. I always wonder.. ”what is he thinking as he stands there with his arms crossed staring at this incredible view of God’s creation”. You inspire everyone of us. ☺️ Love, love the audio ( coffee making is my favorite)! Thank you for always posting scripture at the end. For me it is the perfect ending to an incredible journey. Blessings, and if you ever visit Tennessee to hike, let us know, (not that it is ANYTHING in comparison), we have modest accommodations at Trailhead Cabins and you are forever welcome to be our guest.
You’re so lucky. I envy you. I live in The Netherlands and it’s so overpopulated and not much nature… I really wish I could live I a country with such an amazing nature and not so overpopulated. This kind of videos make me realize even more what I’m missing. Bless you.

Exquisitely filmed and edited. Those sunsets where the sun simply doesn't set ("the sun knoweth his going down", says that same psalm), the changes from dreamy drone flight to the close up actuality of (say) a tent guy rope or coffee being made, the tricks of deceiving scale.
Enjoy your cinematography all the time. Your channel is like a bible to me. I will be there in July 2024. Hope the weather will accommodate for 10days backpacking trip!! You are amazing 😊
Thanks for a fantastic film! Lofoten is truly one of the world's most beautiful places. And you really have captured it in a wonderful and epic way! Very inspiring!
I mean... what can anyone say to describe such a beautiful film? I can't think of anything that would do it justice. Wow. Spectacular! Thanks for sharing Harmen
Speechless. Although years ago I was hiking there as well and imagine why you do this. Refreshing my memories.❤ I do hope Lofoten stay clean as it is.Tusen takk fra Tyskland! Tom.
Hello Harmen. Thank your for sharing your experience and unique artistic way to capture nature. We are huge supporters and love to learn from your approach.
Harmen, you inspire me. Your artistry is unsurpassed and accolades to you. I’ve watched and shared many of your creations/videos with friends. If there were an Oscar for best RUclips video or ANY video ,,, you should have one.
Stunning as always. And the Lofoten under the sun are so unusual for me but so beautiful! Top filming and editing, peaceful and relaxing in front of the beauty of mother nature. 😍👍 Thank you Harmen!
Thanks! I have been to Lofoten, the place where my grandparents were born, several times, but have never seen it as stunningly beautiful as you presented it here.
Jaw dropping scenary, superb footage, relaxing music and outstanding editing! Enjoyed every minute of it and really want to go there myself. Bedankt voor weer een bijzonder mooie video Harmen!
Thank you, Harmen, for taking us with you to your trips... Love love love your videos, very inspiring and showing such breathtaking power of Nature. Keep up with the beautiful work
You are an athlete and artist, and deeply spiritual, inspirational, and sophisticated! I have your videos on my huge TV all day, no matter what I might be doing. I can't go to these amazing places but you make it possible for me to enjoy and be inspired. Thanks for sharing. God bless you!
Amazing as always! Lofoten unbelievably beautiful. breathtaking pure and wonderful..! this is nature. This is a place in the world most of us won't be able to visit. piece of art! Thank you for taking us on another adventure 👌😍
Before bed, simply wonderful. I practically fell asleep with the thought that I was in the Lofoten Islands. Thanks for the super silm and I'm a bit envious :) because I would love to go to such landscapes.
Another master piece! You bring out the soul of nature and become part of it. With all of your videos, you rise to the top in presenting the beauty of the area and present it to us in a way where we feel part of it and inspire us to go out and enjoy nature. Thank you!
scene at 15:30 with the camping on the beach is incredible, that low drone shot through those little dunes with the grassy tops is one of my favorite shots from a cinematic perspective too - so well done.
Some fun facts about this trek you might enjoy: 0:00 It's rare that I have a intro in mind before starting the hike. I wanted to combine the aerial intro with hiking shots, so that when the film starts, you're already fully emerged in the trek. Hope you like it! 4:00 For those who noticed, this is only 1 of the 3 slider shots of this film. I've been modifying my slider to save weight, but the prototype didn't work as planned. More to come in the future! 6:03 No star timelapses for this trek, as the sun never set! But so happy how the sun timelapses turned out. The sun is at its lowest at 1am in this timelapse. 8:43 I pitched my tent here at 9pm, had dinner at 10:30pm. So much sunlight! 10:16 I woke up by the sound of the wind. The valley by now had filled with clouds creating this amazing scenery with sky islands. This was at 3am in the morning! 11:06 I knew the weather was gonna take a turn overnight, still I pitched my tent on top of the mountain. The views made it so worth it! 12:07 The main reason I slept inside for a night is that by now I was so sleep deprived. The never setting sun kept me awake far past bedtime, and the heat of the sun at 4am on my tent / the extreme winds woke me up early every night. I think I slept 11 hours that night. 14:32 These kind of soggy 'trails' are so typical of the Lofoten. 18:40 The only way to continue from here is by boat. There is no trail connecting to the next town. Real fun though. 19:19 Great example of 'most people are actually really really friendly'. You weren't allowed to stand on the front of the boat, to not block the skipper's view. I went into the wheelhouse to ask to take a picture. Long story short, the guy was very friendly, allowed me to set up my tripod and have me stand on the front of the boat for this shot. 20:13 Hermannsdalstinden, the tallest mountain of the (western) Lofoten. A real highlight of this trek. I was very lucky with the weather, no wind and no clouds! These shots were taken at 9:30pm. 22:47 The town of Å is the last town on the Lofoten islands. Å is the last letter in the Norwegian alphabet. 25:30 Very tricky mountain pass. To access the southwestern coastline, you have to cross over this pass. There is no other way getting to this remote 20km+ of coastline. There is basically no trail and the slopes are easily 45-50% up and down. Quite an exhausting bushwhack, but very gorgeous section of coast.
Dude, you are unreal. The treks, the cinematography, the extra info in the comments. Thank you. Do you have any advice for someone who wants to start hiking/solo wild camping videos?
I was thinking the same thing. These videos are great! I just started my RUclips channel yesterday, and this is the kind of content I aspire to create ❤ all the details. Very inspiring
Another wonderful production! What a beautiful part of the world. Honestly though, my legs turned to jelly looking at you peering down from those immense heights.
I am in awe!!! This was again a beautiful hike to watch. because of your films, you have inspired me to go out and hike into the unknown and explore. Thanks again Harmen! God Bless.
Im sure its been said before but the work your putting in for these shots is incredible, the amount of walking back for the camera must be huge but the shots you get are inspiring for a person whom also makes videos, your drone shots are mesmerizing and those side pan shots look so good, still trying to work how you do some of them :), congratulation on your success with this channel and may it continue to grow and rise
Absolutely outstanding videos!! My wife and I will always cherish them as we watch them again and again and find new little gems that we missed. If we were younger we would mortgage the house to go to Patagonia!! Thanks so much for sharing your passion!!
Thank you, once again Harmen, for taking us on another magical hike👌🏻 The beauty of your visual content truly compliments the places that you visit all over the world.
I love your videos. I will try to watch everyone of them and all I can say is this is how life should be for everyone simple enjoyable, fascinating, and always something to see and explore. Thank you.
This is so beautiful Harmen! Sometimes I question if I am passionate enough about making outdoor videos after seeing your films. But I guess it's a long road of learning that separates a content creator from a filmmaker ;) This is another masterpiece, you really reflected the atmosphere and beauty of the Lofoten through your lens. Incredible work.
Hi Mario, thank you for the compliments. Don’t question your passion, I feel like you have so much of that when watching your videos. Try to keep improving and never hold back from any ideas you have. Shoot me a DM on Instagram if you feel like chatting about it some day.
what can I say... once again, it's sublime, masterfully filmed. the landscapes are breathtaking. We are immersed on your heels still some beautiful shots of birds here and there: it's cool.
Hi there from Sacramento, California. I just came upon your channel and saw you made a video of Yosemite. I live a 2 hours drive from Yosemite. Your videography is so beautiful. Norway is on top of my bucket list and this video has me making me want to go even more. I just subscribed.
Beautiful as usual, Harmen. And unique things for me. I've never seen the sun moving along the horizon like that (only heard about it). Drone footage, timelapse, closeups, flowers, cloud inversions, wildlife, audio, Harmen :), all gorgeous. Did you think the landscape and colours similar to your Scotland videos? I did. The sunlit pathway on the sea zooming backwards over your silhouette was a particular WOW moment. This whole experience was wonderful. Thank you so much. (Apropos "O Lord, how manifold are Thy works")
Thank you! Beautiful place indeed. I found it more mountainous and vivid than Scotland, but the latter is perhaps because I had terrible weather in Scotland (';
I've just completed a (much more modest) week of hiking in the Lofoten Islands myself. The varied weather and underfoot conditions were as much a feature of my trip as they were of yours. The drone footage is spellbinding but the way you captured all the other magical aspects of this archipelago is also inspiring. Thanks for sharing Harmen and I look forward to your next adventure.
The human language is too simple to describe such beauty, such delight that you captured. Thank you very much. You give people so much love, beauty and happiness with your trips and shootings.
An absolute joy to watch again Harmen, amazing vibes, amazing music, stunning cinematography. Thanks. We went to Lofoten last October and we were able to catch some Northern Lights.
This is one of the best videos ive watched on youtube ever. Ive been binge watching videos of norway and wild camping in General over the past 3 weeks and found this video and I enjoyed every second of it. You did a great Job catching the views and scenery but also your journey from the start to the end. I hope I can travel there one day too. Thank you very much
Breathtaking! I'm a New Zealander with Norwegian ancestry and an avid hiker and perhaps one day I'll make it to Norway to explore it like only a hiker can.
Thank you for bringing this fantastic cinematic video of beautiful Norway to a part-time bed bound LongCovid “warrior”… one day.. one day ;-). Love your work. All the best.
The drone shot with you on the rock silhouetted in the sun beam on the water was brilliant. I love all your videos but this one was especially good I think. You are a master at visualizing the shots you want. I can't say enough how impressed I am. I don't like it when people say someone has a "gift" for whatever it is they do...this is talent that you've honed and earned, if that makes sense. Best I've ever seen. Fantastic work! Standing ovation!
Dear Harmen, I’d watched all of your YT videos within 3 days. Your amazing videos make me feel full peaceful and inspiring at all! Looking forward to watching your new videos soon! Thank you so much!
Absolutely breathtaking place and spectacular filmmaking! That central mountain in the picture at the very end of the video reminds me a lot of Half Dome in Yosemite. I pray that God continues to bless you on your future expeditions Harmen, thank you for sharing these beautiful parts of His creation with us.
I truly admire the effort you put into this. Thank you! I hiked Lofoten for 13 days straight back in 2015. No car, only hitchhiking and walking, carrying all of my food, tent and a sleeping bag. It is the best trip I have had in my life. Thank you for taking me back. I recognise the trails and places and now more than ever dream of going back!
Grazie 🙏

@@HarmenHoek 🙏🙏
So brilliant, beautiful and inspiring. I'm looking at buying a drone - do you have any recommendations. I love the visual quality of your films.
Harmen, you inspire me. Your artistry is unsurpassed and accolades to you. I’ve watched and shared many of your creations/videos with friends. If there were an Oscar for best RUclips video or ANY video ,,, you should have one.
The production value is off the scales. Should have 1 mill views
Absolutely beautiful😍 The sun gliding across the horizon is just magical! Nice job again my friend!
Stunning as always. And the Lofoten under the sun are so unusual for me but so beautiful!
Top filming and editing, peaceful and relaxing in front of the beauty of mother nature. 😍👍
Thank you Harmen!
Thank you! You too!
Thanks! I have been to Lofoten, the place where my grandparents were born, several times, but have never seen it as stunningly beautiful as you presented it here.
Glad you enjoyed it, and thanks a lot for the support! (:
Jaw dropping scenary, superb footage, relaxing music and outstanding editing! Enjoyed every minute of it and really want to go there myself. Bedankt voor weer een bijzonder mooie video Harmen!
Bedankt voor de complimenten!
This video has some of the most epic shots. Wow, just wow.😮
Thank you, Harmen, for taking us with you to your trips... Love love love your videos, very inspiring and showing such breathtaking power of Nature. Keep up with the beautiful work
Thanks! Will do!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks 😊
And the place itself, all those dunes and tufts of green in them are adorable!
I want to cry because of the beauty of these scenes😢
I won't be stopping you (';
Some fun facts about this trek you might enjoy:
0:00 It's rare that I have a intro in mind before starting the hike.
It would have been great if text is incorporated in the video. I wouldn't know it's 9pm and still bright 😅
Another wonderful production! What a beautiful part of the world. Honestly though, my legs turned to jelly looking at you peering down from those immense heights.
Thanks, and sorry for the jelly legs (;
Pure bliss. Thank you.
I am in awe!!! This was again a beautiful hike to watch. because of your films, you have inspired me to go out and hike into the unknown and explore. Thanks again Harmen! God Bless.
That is awesome! Enjoy the outdoors!
Thank you Harmen. Another incredible video!
Great video and very nice trail! 😃
Beyond beautiful ❤
Thanks for the support! Glad you liked it!
Harmen, the beauty of your short films never fails to amaze me. Incredible work as always.
Another classic trekking video....thank you!
Glad you liked it!
Absolutely outstanding videos!! My wife and I will always cherish them as we watch them again and again and find new little gems that we missed. If we were younger we would mortgage the house to go to Patagonia!! Thanks so much for sharing your passion!!
Thank you so much, Steve (?). Hope I can bring the places to you using these videos! All the best!
I get more enjoyment from your films than I do most movies.
Хармен, Ваши фильмы - настоящие шедевры! Смотрю с замиранием сердца и огромным удовольствием ❤️ Спасибо ❤️
Thank you, once again Harmen, for taking us on another magical hike👌🏻 The beauty of your visual content truly compliments the places that you visit all over the world.
Thanks, glad you liked this one too!
We are immersed on your heels still some beautiful shots of birds here and there: it's cool.
you must have hiked practically triple the distance, Up once to set the camera up-back down- then back up again for the shot. Dedication right there
Hi there from Sacramento, California.
Thank you! Beautiful place indeed. I found it more mountainous and vivid than Scotland, but the latter is perhaps because I had terrible weather in Scotland (';
Probably the most calm & fascinating solo hike video. Norway nature always the best view to watch.
Thanks for the compliments! Hope you had a great hike yourself too!
The human language is too simple to describe such beauty, such delight that you captured. Thank you very much. You give people so much love, beauty and happiness with your trips and shootings.
My god, I've never seen a better representation of the northern part of my country like this. I'm stunned!
Absolutely regardless this video- your country has plenty of stunning places to hike, not only Lofotens, am i right?
@@helenivanova5440 Sure has
An absolute joy to watch again Harmen, amazing vibes, amazing music, stunning cinematography. Thanks. We went to Lofoten last October and we were able to catch some Northern Lights.
So cool! Guess I'll have to go back there in winter
Фильм-поэма, фильм-медитация. Супер!
👍.,.
I hope you can!
You said a million things without saying a word. I only have 2 words for you: breathtakingly beautiful.
I have no words, amazing. The beauty of some shots has brought tears to my eyes.
Dear Harmen, I’d watched all of your YT videos within 3 days.
Your amazing videos make me feel full peaceful and inspiring at all!
Looking forward to watching your new videos soon!
Thank you so much!
Thanks! Spectacular …
Thanks for the support! :)
Amazing peaceful footage, love this. Thank you!
Absolutley stunning! Enjoyed every moment. Thank you Harmen!
I love the way you incorporate soothing music that is not annoying, but enhances the beautiful scenes!
I'm Sufering A Painful mental illness, Only This Videos And Family Make Me Keep On. Thank You ❤
I truly admire the effort you put into this. Thank you!
I hiked Lofoten for 13 days straight back in 2015. No car, only hitchhiking and walking, carrying all of my food, tent and a sleeping bag. It is the best trip I have had in my life. Thank you for taking me back. I recognise the trails and places and now more than ever dream of going back!
Grazie 🙏
Bravo Sir, this is a beautiful piece 🌼
Great nature is often appreciated alone!
