Thanks to Ashley for being too old and blind to see the numbers on this one. Ha! Cheeky mate, I know. It is a fun piece, but there are better Casio G-Shocks out there, including, somewhat ironically, the 5600 models that predate it by a decade or more. Progress isn't always actually progress. All G-Shocks have mineral glass crystals Jody, not plastic. If you let the watch sit at room temp, you should be able to feel the glass as slightly cool to the touch. I’ve never had a G-Shock with a scratched crystal and I wore one daily in harsh working environments when I had a contracting business for over ten years. Replaced the strap and battery several times, and most recently replaced the bezel and it looks brand new without a single scratch to the crystal.
ALL G-SHOCK watches do not have mineral glass…..dear me……
Some have sapphire. 😊

Polywatch will NOT work on this G-Shock. It uses mineral glass so you will need something like Cerium Oxide or even start with very fine sand paper if the scratches are deep.

The DW5900 was seen in the wrist of Martin Lawerence In Bad Boys (1995).
I mixed it up, milanese'd my Duro, so it seamastered my Casio in a simple strap mod.
That DW is a great beater watch very cool
Idk if it's intentional, but the dial layout is strikingly similar to cat paws and in fact some people called it G Shock "cat paws"
Over the line mark it as Zero!!
That watch really tied the wrist together...

I have the original from the 90’s..still going albeit with a new bezel - doesn’t have a light or world time and can’t reset the stopwatch anymore…still looks cool though!!👍
Plus The DW-5900 was worn by Forest Whitaker in Blown Away (1994).
Even if I liked the design of this hockey puck, I can't imagine any occasion on which I'd wear it.
I didn't really like those when they were first released and your video nails it. The only part of the watch I'd really look at takes up about 1/4 of the dial and is tiny. If you want a quirky Casio I think the DW291H is a better option, less than half the cost, far more legible, more wearable, has the 20 bar WR and probably just as durable.
Nice piece of Casio nostalgia. It's not the most legible watch I've seen but I can't help liking the overall design. Enjoyed the video, cheers.
I have had the dw9052 for a decade. It has a cool stealth look and only the most basic g shock functions. Even though it has the same functions essentially as an f91w its scratched my g shock itch and i never felt i needed another one. The only g shock im thinking about buying is the g7900a because of the moonphase which admittedly looks awesome

I bought a very similar GShock in 2006 when my Seamaster leaked SCUBA diving every day. I needed a cheap dive watch right now. It satisfied the requirement but it was difficult for me to read. I actually needed to buy a diving mask with "reader" lenses.
Talking about legibility, have you seen the new AE-1500WH models? Picked up the negative display one, absolute banger for 30 euros!

This is my favorite watch ever. Because I had one as a kid in early 90s.
Its the one model that first got me interested in watches, and therefore it will forever be my grail model, I now got many different variant of both the old and the new, also got many other G-Shocks and a Rolex and a Grand Seiko, but the original DW5900 is my favorite.
This is the original 3 eyed AND the original octaginal shaped g, so the Casioak was not first G in that shape.
Hope Casio will make a oversized version like they did with both 5600 and 6900, and of course models with solar bt etc. And metal bezel:)
Puny offering.. my GShock is 55mm width 50mm pin to pin and 17mm thick.. the fork pin buckle is a a joy to behold. Even on my 8inch wrist its not the easiest wear.
caved in and bought a g shock ,the all metal awm 500d ,yup the casio obsession on your channel to blame !! it is a fab watch looks the biz , one you should review !!
I do like this one and it is a faithful recreation, a great ruff and tumble work watch. However you picked up on what I noticed and that is the size of the bottom display which is too small.
For me I just love the GD 350 I've got 2 of them and looking at a 3rd one and it's a negative display but it's not like Casio's regular negative this one you can actually read, plus the features on this puppy are superb. Get one before they all go as it's now discontinued.
Another Casio that has caught my eye is the AE-1500WH, no issues with ledgability on that one and for £30 massive bang per buck.

i have an old g=100 that the bezel disintegrated and now it sits until i can find a metal one to put on there, i like the chrome and the gold ones but i think i'm gonna stick with a flat black one

Wow nostalgia, I love that movie. I had a DW-5200 in the 80's and early 90's but lost it. (Long Story) I have my late, father-in-laws DW-5200 now to help with the hartache I felt for it over the years . But, so sad, it's missing the bezel and bezel screws. I'm always looking for replacement parts. It's not bad without the bezel, that's how he wore it for probably 25 years or more. I need to get a modern G again. Although I'll probably get a 5600 or one of the Casioaks if I can find one. Oh and keep from drunk buying another Vostok like I did last night. Would you believe I ordered a Neptune 960 case? At least I ordered the GMT.
You won't regret it if you got the date delete version.

The Big Lebowski is one of my favourite films so I kind of feel like I HAVE to buy this one despite that wacky dial layout and those chunky dimensions.

There's a movie called How High and the main character is wearing a gShock I can't for the life of me identify. If you do another movie watch review I highly recommend that one. Pun definitely intended 😜🤣🤣
At my age I don’t think I would buy that watch because of the display I would go after one of the others. Younger me would’ve bought one of those the older me is tempted but I don’t even set the date on some of my NH 35 because what’s the point I can’t see that little square

I'm pretty sure all G-Shock branded Casios have a mineral crystal.
Some high end G Shocks have Sapphire. E.g. Titanium squares
