    Funny, “ I am not a gunsmith or Sig armorer.” Proceeds to provide information beyond what most Sig engineers even know, in a well produced and succinct manner. Sig should just pay him directly instead of him getting pennies from RUclips.

    Love your videos and all the work you do to share your knowledge with others. I do have a question. Once you move the slide back, why not just remove the striker? It’s fairly easy to remove the striker cap and it would eliminate the striker to sear interference. Thanks for your attention.

    • @SIGMECHANICS
      @SIGMECHANICS  Год назад +4

      Thank you! Yes, that is also a method to achieve the same result. I find it to be a slower process, since what I show here is less than a minute vs. removing the cap which (sometimes) can be slow due to the plastic housing on the striker.

    Thanks for this.
    When removing the FCU; the take down safety bar jumped the mating surface. Unsure why this happened but I detect any damage to the take down safety bar
    With the sear in the up position I was not able to reassemble the slide to the grip module.
    This video helped me mitigate the problem. It was a fussy job but I got everything back together and function checked and working well. I have a better understanding of the engineering behind the FCU.
    Would love to see the p365 catalogue become just as robust as the p320 playlists (like many SIG fanboys; I own pistols from both families).

    This happen to me, you don't need any tools. Just rack the slide, and put it back in firing position with empty mag obviously but make sure empty mag is in the gun and no round in chamber obviously, dry fire once. Then pull magazine, rack back and lock, then the slide lever to remove will go in 6pm position and all good and slide should slide off. If firing pin was in fire ready position a while as we carry with a round in chamber and never dry fired prior to removal to reset, i run into this issue and cant easily move slide lever to 6pm to remove slide. Sig told me you don't have to dry fire to remove slide on this gun but I think they are wrong and you do.. because getting that slide level to 6pm is a pain in the ass sometimes so have to do the steps I mentioned. Thanks for the video and the understanding of the insides of this weapon if i ever get it stuck and have to remove slide like you did.

      Not really. It just failed one day to the next.
      I made this video after it happened to me a few days back. I asked ModGuns if they have heard of the issue (since they have a substantial client base) and they said that it has come up quite a few times. So I figured it was a great opportunity to talk about it should someone in the community experience the same, and also use the chance to educate others on the pistols inner mechanics.
      Thanks for watching!

  • @deucedeuce1572
    @deucedeuce1572 Год назад +2

    Damn, I thought it would be like the P320, because you can pull the trigger to take the slide off if you don't have a takedown safety lever. Appreciate that you explained why that won't work with the P365. (With the P320, you might have to slightly move the slide rearword while you pull the trigger, because it won't always just release if the slide is even slightly too far forward).

    • @SIGMECHANICS

    I have two P365s. The slide catch release lever on my older one easily comes out when I remove the FCU. I am able to put it back placing the spring in the proper place. It is always loose however? Is this normal? Comparing the slide catch release lever of the older FCU vs the newer one, the newer one seems to have a slightly different design that lets it sit more securely. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

    • @SIGMECHANICS
      @SIGMECHANICS  6 месяцев назад +1

      I find that the levers are all loose, the way the part just sits in a recessed area that’s not press fit will almost certainly mean the piece will come out if not managed correctly. When I hold the FCU I always place my thumb over it to avoid it coming out… just the nature of this design really.

    Wanted to ask if Sig ever designed the FCU to shoot automatically for testing or military? The Glock 18 and some pistols have automatic parts but wondering if this was ever designed or thought of.

    just brought a new xmacro home today and pulled slide off, reinstalled not properly, and currently stuck. Since this is a new gun and seems to be a common issue, does Sig take it in on warranty or am I on my own?

    • @SIGMECHANICS
      @SIGMECHANICS  Год назад +1

      Removing the slide should not give you this problem. Removing the FCU might cause this if you’re not familiar with the design.
      For example when you pull the FCU off the grip the pins can shift without you knowing and so it can accidentally become an issue that’s not a warranty related problem, but a user error, which isn’t entirely fair to say since you can’t reasonably expect everyone to know everything about the gun, especially when new.
      At the end of the day I don’t really have affiliation with Sig so as far as whether or not it’s a warranty thing,I don’t know the answer. I’d have to defer to Sig directly.

      @SIGMECHANICS  7 месяцев назад

      Have you attempted to remove the slide cap or follow the instructions on the video? If there is a misaligned or broken part in the FCU it could cause this problem.
      However, the first thing I would try would be to readjust your recoil rod to see if that is causing the problem you can take a set of needle nose, pliers, grip it from the front, pull it out and rotate a quarter turn to test, however if the recall rod is out of alignment, there will be a slight protrusion of the recoil rod from the muzzle end so check that first before you take Tools to your P365

    • @SIGMECHANICS

      One other thing to mention, the takedown bar works and goes to the 6 o’clock position but when I pull the trigger the lever flips up back into the battery position. Not sure if that helps with diagnosis. Also I believe the slide catch is not installed properly as it fell out right before I reinstalled the slide. Thought I put it back in properly but after watching videos, I don’t think I did. I think that little wire spring is not positioned right and this is the root of the problem. Thank you.

      Update got home and whacked it with a hammer and won’t budge that sucker is locked. Granted I whacked it in the direction the bullet flies. Is that the direction you were suggesting? Also pulled guide rod out with needle nose and all that did was snap the takedown lever back into the batter position (from 6 o’clock). Bout to send it back to sig. Unreal and frustrating

    I just got a p365 (California model). I own many, many guns (pistols). I always wanted a Sig, but they were not available in Ca till just recently. I had to have one. I now do.... and I am NOT happy. WHY? : I find that the slide removal lever is nearly impossible to move. I have seen other comments about this, but no solution other than push it with 'a block'. And I am not a novice --- I have many other guns that work. This is BS. There HAS to be a clearance problem somewhere. Does anyone know?

    • @SIGMECHANICS
      @SIGMECHANICS  6 месяцев назад

      The takedown lever seems to have a problem where if it comes out of place it can be difficult to put back in place. If you remove the FCU, you can manually adjust it so it goes back in place but it’s a bit of a pain. The P365 is the only model. I am a little bit more careful with disassembly. And I always hold the FCU in such a way that my thumb is compressing the takedown lever so it won’t pop out of place.
      Once it’s inside the grip, there’s generally no problem.
