This video is excellent and precisely what a beginner guitarist like me was looking for when using this amp. I started playing a few months back and picked up the Fender Champion 20 at a pawn shop for $40. It looks brand new and works perfectly. im ordering one of these amps on tuesdayyyyyyyy! so hyped cuz i've been playing a marshall with a strat and im starting to get sick of it and im finally gonna get some fender tones
It's really good, but just a but of advice which I use, go to a guitar store to test it out to see if it's actually for you. It really is a great amp though from personal experience.
@@5MinuteMusic Do you know how to get a good metal tone for stuff like Black Sabbath and Hells Bells on Champ 20 without it sounding too fuzzy? I've got a good cable, but a crappy starter guitar, maybe that could be the problem?
I bought this amp about 2 months ago after watching your videos. It's a great amp for learning and fiddling with the different types of voices and effects. Love it, thank you very much for the super helpful reviews plus tips and tricks.
Hey Derek, thanks so much for the tips and information on the Amp. I've been playing (attempting, too, anyway) an acoustic for about a year. Just bought a GretschG2420t and a Champion 20. I'm unsure of how or what to do as to the setting on the amp and your video helped out immensely. thanks again! I'll add in the question of the day.....Rockabilly and Blues!!!
Just wanted to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for these videos showing me what the Fender Champion 20 can do. I bought mine probably 9 months ago as an upgrade to the extremely limited Squier SP-10 that came with my old Squier kit, sold by its versatility as an affordable practice amp. As a bedroom rocker, I didn't need much more. I'd been struggling with getting the appropriate tones for certain sounds I wanted, sticking mostly to the yellow light British and red light metal settings for the hard rock I wanted to play. But it still felt... off. The Tweed and Blackface settings felt so muddied or limp that I never touched them. But those nice smooth blues tones from Sound 2 just sounded like honey. Feels like I unlocked a lot of missed potential of the amp. Thank you again!
Right now I am loving the Orange British Channel with some delay and reverb...sounds great..I like your vids. The setting you were using was based on the '65 Fender Twin amp according to the manual..sounds great.
@@5MinuteMusic vol 2, gain 3 or above, treble 5, bass 7 or 8, fx level 4, green delay and reverb..gives a slightly distorted dirty bluesy rock tone ala The Who

Hey Mark, Thanks for watching and commenting! My guitar's tone knob was set to 10 for all of the samples. Also, for Sound 1 I used the bridge pickup, Sound 2 = center pickup, and Sound 3 = neck pickup. Does that answer your question?

I have a question. I have a little difficulty differentiating the colors on the voice and FX selectors. The Owner's manual provides the names of the 12 voices and effects. For example for the voices if states the following: 1 Tweed Bassman 2 Tweed Deluxe, etc. 3 Tweed Champ Would you to list the names of the settings for those of us who have trouble with red-green differentiation. Make sure your FX LEVEL knob is turned up pretty high (not on 1-2-3, etc.), then try the Wah effect and see if you can hear it. I hope that helps! Thank you for watching and commenting!
