@@psimonchess oh the boss blues bd2? I've heard great things from this ,my mate says this should be my first pedal, what do you think as i haven't touched pedals yet?
The Head In The Box hi I’m a beginner player. The BOSS BD-2 was my first pedal too. For me it’s an excellent pedal. I only play in my house for my own pleasure. That pedal I think is a very good choice if you like a more deep sound.
What do you have the other settings on the amp set to? You should explain where volume is set. Any FX settings used in your demo? Bass, treble settings?
Not a beginner, don't own this amp but like it (I have a Champion 100 2x12"). Best concise explanation I've seen and heard of the implementation of Fender voicings on the Champion amp, specifically the 40 in this case.
Well what a great channel this is! Finally someone who demos an amp without showing off his skills (which he probably has). This is absolutely educational for us beginners and maybe even not so beginners... I've got one of them Champion 110's from many years ago, bought it from my guitar teacher. Looks very similar to this one, except it does not have the modelling-stuff. And has a Mid-knob in the eq. section, too bad the 20 does not have one. I'm not experienced enough to know if that is a 'bad' thing, but I find it very useful as it helps me to get that 'dark-ish jazz sound'. Gonna watch some more of the vids on this Champ.20 and then maybe buy one. Don't know yet... Keep up the good work Mr. 5 Minute Music!
Thank you Lieven Bousard!!! I do wish the Champion 20 had a mids knob but you can work around it. Here is one of my videos telling how: ruclips.net/video/Mi65VPdiSzo/видео.html Thank you for watching and commenting!!!
Hi Derek. Blessings to you too man. I am so thankful to the Lord that He gave us that wonderful thing called music. In as many colors as there are! So, did I get this right about effectively finding a tone? : first use the gain for a clean or rock sound, then use the voiceknob for the suitable amp family and then use the volume knob for the loudness? I just got my champion 20 yesterday.
Fantastic! I also did a video on the effects: ruclips.net/video/6fWQvz_jVUI/видео.html and on the Gain vs Volume control: ruclips.net/video/sA5MoZleBog/видео.html Thank you for watching and commenting!
Hello and thank you for this very clear demo. How does the amp behave when you turn down the volume on the guitar? Does it clean up the sound well? Thanks for your answer. Laurent from France
Glad you enjoyed it! I would really appreciate it if you would order it through the BUY NOW link above (in the description). I get a small commission that helps support this channel (at no extra cost to you). Thank you for watching and commenting!
Anything from the Tweed and Blackface settings, with low to moderate Gain. I've seen reviews where players used those voicings and got Country music-like sounds out of it.
The only three things you need is, your thumb, index and middle finger to twist the knob until your happy. I love twisting knobs, I can twist with the best of them.
THANK YOU for this! I just got one, and the instructions that come with it are printed so small, I have to practically use a jewlers' loup to read them. My question, though, is - is it my imagination, or are them some variances in volume with each Voice setting? For instance, the British/'60s setting seems noticeably louder than the '70s and '80s positions. Just me?
@@davekeating. I don't know - is higher gain something they can "set" the British/'60s/Yellow setting for? Because I didn't see him do anything with the gain knob...
The answer: Absolutely YES. There’s a BIG difference in volume between some of them. On this video (listening through a phone and with his gain cranked) it’s imperceptible, but in person it’s VERY noticeable - and frankly, pretty annoying, imo.
Hello, I have the Fender Champion 20 amp and I love it! Problem is I'm pretty new to all of this so I'm having quite a bit of trouble getting the distortion and sound I want out of it. I love ZZTOP and was wondering if you could do a video on how to set up the amp to sound like them? Thanks.
I need to borrow a pedal board and run it through both of them. When I do, I will definitely post a video with the results. Be sure to subscribe and hit the bell so you will be notified when I post the video. Thank you for watching and commenting!
Great information. My only problem is that a lot of artists that I want to play from the 60s and 70s also use a lot of distortion and the only way I can get decent distortion out of this amp is using the metal voicing...
hey! from what i've seen this amp is very friendly with pedals, so you could probably try a good overdrive pedal to achieve the tone you're looking for on the british setting
Yes. I’m glad someone mentioned the pickups. I find it a little annoying that in all these videos it’s an Ibanez with humbuckers in the neck and bridge position. That shapes the sound SO much. I mean, I know that every guitar is different, and he’s not able to demo the app using a Strat, then a Tele, etc. but if you have a Squier guitar and think you’ll get these exact sounds, it’s not really going to be the same.
I didn’t realize that YELLOW OR RED are actual setting. I just thought that red was you’re in between settings and yellow meant you’re “approaching” the one setting. Thanks.
Can you use the aux input and the instrument input at the same time, to play over backing tracks? Can you use both at the same time with the headphones? Thanks.
According to Fender, you can use the aux and the instrument inputs at the same time. I have never tried them with the headphones. Thank you for watching and commenting.
Hi I've got this amp ( have mentioned this on another video) just a quick question on the voice settings , have got the tone on the guitar to 10 and the guitar volume to 10 , playing the humbucker by the bridge , but what would recommend on the the amp tone and bass and also the gain ? Cheers👍🎸
It depends on what kind of sound that you want. Are you looking for metal, hard rock, blues? Please let me know and I can give you some recommendations! Thank you for watching and commenting!
I honestly like this amp better than the fender mustangs that I have had... The mustangs were fantastic but they were kind of overwhelming with just too many options and too much stuff to dial in with this champion I can dial in something usable almost immediately
@@erstwhilerambler I had as few mustangs, the mustang 3 was my favorite. It had the display screen which made it easier. I could definitely get the tones I wanted and I could just upload some amazing patches to it. However with the little champions I can just turn a few knobs instinctively and get a tone I want much quicker and easier. I still have a mustang 1 and champion 20 and both are at my buddies house now because I use my Randall with pedals now all the time. Even at that I pretty much only use boost and eq pedal.
I'm really surprised the way the race cards getting thrown around in today's world that fender hasn't been sued and forced to name their blackface setting to something else
Question of the Day: What other feature of the Champion 20 would you like more information about?
Possible chugging video, also maybe what pedals work great for beginners as this is what most beginners and quiet people will get?
