      Can you use multiple effects at once?

    • @flipperdale51
      @flipperdale51 8 лет назад +16

      ...Yes, you can set the effects (voicing, delay, etc.) wherever you want to get the desired sound. I was also using a Boss distortion pedal. Of course, pedals are always better because you can stamp them on or off whenever you feel like it, but the amp is definitely worth the money. If you're asking if you can save different effects from the same dial and make them come out of the amp all at once, I believe the answer is no.

      Art Vale Does it take pedals well ?

    • @flipperdale51
      @flipperdale51 7 лет назад +12

      I have a Boss distortion pedal on mine and it works fine. I've also had a Cry Baby Wa-Wa and fuss pedal connected, and it thinned-out the sound a bit, but a few adjustment corrected it. I'm sure they'll let you try whatever you like in the store before you purchase it. Good luck and have fun.

    I was using this amp to demo guitars at my local GC. I was so impressed with it that I brought one home with me!
    For such a small amp it doesn’t sound small. Its modeling is very good, and the range of tones you can find are excellent. As a practice amp it goes above and beyond, and it’s very usable for jams and small gigs. The weakest link for the amp are its effects, but they still get the job done well enough. For the price, you can’t beat it!

    The fender amp voices sound as good as 90% (and better than some) of tube amps that around 4x's more expensive. I actually mic it when practicing and use monitors. It's easier to deal with than my bf bassman, twin and even blues jr because you don't have to crank the crap out of it to get good tones, which means less bleed.

  • @JohnnyRebKy
    @JohnnyRebKy 2 года назад +7

    I had no intent on buying one today until I tried it. Sounded way better than I ever expected. What surprised me is it sounds bigger than what it is. I had a little frontman amp like these 20 years ago and it didn’t sound near as good as these new one. I just used it to demo a tele for a few mins and ended up leaving with the tele and little amp lol

  • @mstewart248
    @mstewart248 2 года назад +15

    I got one these a year and half ago. I thought it was a great little practice amp with all the effects built in. I ended up buying a blues deluxe four months ago. The blues deluxe sounds much better (especially when the volume gets loud) but it cost 5 times as much and I had to go out and buy a bunch of pedals just to get the sounds I was use to. I still use this amp when I want to play somewhere and not have to lug the blues deluxe around. Kids and beginniners have it good these days. When I started playing in 1993, I had a little 20 watt Goriliia solid state that sounded terrible.

    Best practice amp on market for under a $100. Simple to use and has all the right effects. The Mustang II is $119 but way too complicated for a room practice amp. The Champ is the way to go. I traded my Mustang in for the Champ.
    Good review. Thx

    • @James-zy5lh
      @James-zy5lh 5 лет назад

      Agreed. I bought a Mustang to keep at my mom’s house for whenever I visit her. Nice amp but way too “needy” on the users part to get the most out of it.
      I bought the Champion to be an at home practice amp for my place, and it is beyond fantastic. For such a small amp it doesn’t sound small, and the tone models are very good and responsive. Perhaps the weakest part of the amp are its effects, but they get the point across when jamming or laying down a scratch track/demo. You could definitely use the amp for small coffee shop or patio gigs.

    I am very happy with mine: the sound quality, easy use and especially the price. Just wish in the Owner's manual they had something; (maybe some sort of equalizer visual representation: scooped, high mids, etc) or description of the voices. I personally don't know the difference between a '65 Deluxe and a '65 Princeton amp. I guess I can research it, (and of course listen myself). But would rather have known ahead of time. Thanks.

When I would asked a salesman in a music store about a lefthanded guitar they would look at me like I just slipped him in the face. Telling me I need to learn to play right handed. Looks and sounds like your doing a GREAT job playing left handed. Did you have any problems learning to play left handed and finding a left handed guitar?? Your sounding great to me. I got one second hand for $80, and for the price it is excellent. Is it an all tube Fender Princeton Reverb? No, but a great foundation clean for practice. I run into a 12" cab that is really nice, but to be fair, the 8" is fine as is. If you plan to keep it, I would upgrade the speaker or run into a more beefy 10 or 12" speaker. Excellent jazz and clean tone. Also the Tweed overdrive setting is so good...honestly it is fantastic...very surprised indeed! But it signs on the 'green blackface' setting (around the 2:36 mark here)...deep and rich!

My favourite is the middle sounding blackface setting with gain around with a Telecaster plugged straight in. Beautiful sound from such a small package. Great demo too mate!!

      Dude, this amp is so great. I am a poor starving artist musician, and this amp is so clutch. Personally, I leave the setting on Metal, and leave that alone. I then go over to the other Special Effects setting button, and use chorus for the loud sustained tone, delay for trippy sweet tone, then the sitar sounding tone and the tremolo, and then you can adjust them and the oscillation with the pressing of that button. Which ultimately yields about 10 clutch tones, and that is before I run the amp thru a Mel 9 Delay Pedal, which makes everything sound like a symphony. Only mistake I made was buying the smaller version. Nevertheless, I also would recommend utilizing another amp for loops that play for forever and then cranking this up to play over, which is helping me get a lot better. Ever since Christmas yo, when I got this amp. The improvements made aura palpable and quite a great developement! Yes Sir Yes Eye! One Love One Heart Peace Lore Ekstasis Ea

    So close. Hoping to hear a good crunch with reverb, delay. (SRVish). You got got close at the end until you hit the tap 3X. I thought you would bump up the FX level so we could here the reverb and delay. Looking to hear a semi cranked BFSR. I can get close on the discontinued 15W GDEC. Wondered if Champ could get me there. Guessing settings would be
    - Gain 6
    - Tweed maxed or BF Midway. Dime the gain
    - FX level 7

    Would you recommend this amp for band practice? I own a Vox AC30VR but I need something easy to carry that also has enough power to play alongside a drum set. I'm trying to decide between a Laney Cub 10 and this one... Which one would you recommend? Money- and sound/volume-wise. Thank you!

    Do you know if the clean tone mixes with effects of a pedal? I have a fender frontman 10g and I use a pedal with it and I can hear the clean tone AND the distortion. Thinking about buying this one and just stashing away the fender frontman 10g somewhere under my bed

    Hello everybody,
    I am looking for a studio amplifier (let's say small but powerful enough to enjoy.. keep in mind that I live in a apartment so I either go with a few W amplifier or one more powerful with the use of headphones). Rock genre. Budget around € 100. At the moment I found these:
    Fender Mustang 1 (has 20W)
    Fender Frontman 10G
    Fender Frontman 15G
    Vox Pathfinder 10
    Fender Champion 20
    Marshall MG10
    Boss Katana Mini.
    Which one would you recommend, at the same price?
    Many thanks!!

    • @Driftuner
      @Driftuner 10 лет назад +23

      personally i would go with the champ..its not as "packed" with features like the mustang, but at least it sounds fairly good...the mustang sound like you put it inside a room, colsed the door, and then you put this room inside antother room, closed the door again, and then you wlak out of your house and play outside..thats how it sounds..completely "traped" inside of itself..like if the sound just wouldnt come out of the cabinet..(at least the mustang 1 is like that)..

    Hi, Shane! Nice review! I recognized that more people do prefere the 20 over the 40. In customer´s ratings the 20 gets more stars, too. What is the reason? The 40 has a bigger speaker and additionaly a clean Chanel, so I´m wondering a little bit. You played both, the 40 and this 20. What´s your oppinion about it? Best whishes from Leipzig, Germany!

  • @ThisisRends
    @ThisisRends 8 лет назад

    Does your 20 hiss at the first blackface setting (twin reverb)? Mine does. I hear hiss at a couple of amp models but the first blackface one is the one with the loudest hiss. It,s not that loud but noticeable.

    I haven't seen you do a review for the champion 100, but in your experience is that amp gigworthy if I only used its clean, reverb, and maybe delay effects and then ran some pedals for overdrive, or would I be better off going with another amp?
