I thought I couldn't be more impressed than what you did with the tabletop pattern. Then I was impressed all over again with the leg supports. I haven't seen joinery like that outside of traditional Japanese carpentry. Fantastic! Saving this video among my favorites. It actually makes me tear up to think you will have this as your family grows up, and as your kids have kids and so on, everyone sitting around it for years to come enjoying each other's company. 💛
The amount of wood which went to waste in building this brutalist harlequin table is likely in the terrifying territory. The only silver-line that I see is the result being one-of-a-kind - let's hope it stays so.
I am a previous hobbyist woodworker, turner, carver, burner while in retirement. Now too old at 84 to enjoy this wonderfully rewarding activity. And I agree with others that this is inspiring creativity. Best I have seen!
There aren't words to describe the time, skill and creativity that went into this piece. You are a Master craftsman, the Michaelangelo of Wood. If I had a Wood Museum I would commission you to put one of your pieces in it. Of note, the video was amazing. No music, no talking just a pure build that was self-instruction step by step. What an amazing gift you have and are!
@@ryanhawkinsnot sure why it's not letting me comment on your video but it let's me reply to other comments 🤔 This is honestly stunning work. The 3D effect is mesmerising. The 200+ hours sounds insane until I remind myself it took me 3-4 months just to partially rebuild the interior of our caravan, working on it every chance I got. Even a pretty basic friggen chopping board takes me hours.
About halfway through the top construction, I said in awe: "this man is quilting with wood" (My mother is a quilter and like with this project, there's a lot of connecting things together in ways that bear little to no resemblance to the final pattern unless you know what you're looking at. Indeed, the techniques are quite similar, just with scissors and sewing machines rather than saws and glue. Also, that final glue up for the top....holy crap that was something else! Takes a LOT of guts to lay out that much glue on that many pieces of wood for a single glue-up! Doubly so when the wood in question has already been carefully processed and refined to even get it to that stage!
This is next level creativity! I don’t know how anyone can even conceive a concept like this and then know how to formulate the process that would make it happen. It speaks of many thousands of hours honing one’s craft to perfection.
Just received a cutting board as a wedding gift made from Ryan Hawkins which brought me here. And wow!!! I have an odd obsession with wood cutting boards so while opening it I was losing my mind and couldn’t believe how amazing it was, and now seeing the work that went into making it makes it that much more special. Couldn’t recommend enough!! Incredible work!
Bravo, my woodworking maestro! Your talent and dedication are evident in every inch of this awe-inspiring piece of furniture. It's like you channeled the spirit of Michelangelo and carved this masterpiece with your bare hands (or maybe just some really powerful tools). Hats off to you for your incredible craftsmanship and creating a furniture gem that's truly a work of art!
Man, when you finally put the finish on the top and that pattern just came alive! In my wildest dreams I couldn’t have imagined a table like this! Simply amazing! 🎉
Damn! This guy is an ARTIST! Stumbled upon one of his videos today turning a barrel into a butcher block board and the process is AMAZING! The time, effort and expertise it takes makes all this stuff priceless!!
Amazing and skilful use of what you are blessed with; knowledge, manual skills, clear imagination, experience, love to wood and grain and patience. Well done ..... loved every second of it, even the music.🤗
Hey man, I watch a LOT of wood working videos and very rarely comment. That being said this is outstanding craftsmanship, and a truly unique concept, so figured it was worth taking the time to leave one. Well done!
Wow, Ryan! I'm trying to decide if it's a unique dining table that is also a work of art, or if it's outstanding work of art that is also a unique dining table. Decided: I'm gonna go with both! Thank you for sharing this captivating video with us.
I don't even remember the last time I commented on a youtube video but I have to say. This is the most incredible piece of woodworking that I have ever seen. WOW!!!!!
I have none of the tools, skills and/or time to ever consider doing this in fact I can barely use a saw properly yet I spent nearly 30min watching this video. the craftsmanship is awesome and the sounds of wood being worked is so soothing thaks Ryan!
This is amazing. Absolutely amazing. The table is a work of art and this video is one of the best put together pieces I've seen on woodworking youtube. Well done!!
WOW! One thing i really like is that it is very thick and the construction solid looking. Next best thing to owning it is seeing it being made and a happy family enjoying it
So nice to have a woodworking video that is... woodworking. No Temu corner clamp review, no low-key add for a 1000.00 tool, no hype music, no TikTok latest weird build hype for views... Just woodworking. Best channel imo out there.

Absolutely amazing Ryan you are a true master craftsman at what you do it’s always amazing watching your videos I don’t know how you keep track of all the cuts and alignment of the pieces to make the pattern turn out truly amazing. Keep up the great and amazing videos. 👏👏🙏🏻
The last few seconds were Fabulous and Heart warming. Brought a tear to my I.eye, And I'm A retired Marine. lol And GOD BLESS you and your family. ps. I'll be looking at your different projects from time, but I live in a small apartment and all my tools are gone. But I still get a kick out of watching you professionals.
Such impressive work. And the video proceeds at just the right pace to convey the work content and keep the viewer engaged. A major achievement in every way.
As someone getting into woodworking, this absolutely amazes me. You are a master at the craft man, this will wind up in a museum one day. Absolutely astonishing. I appreciate that the end result is also only like 2% of the video. Would kill for your shop set up.
The pattern is spectacular, and extensive... But nothing else was very out of the ordinary. 15-20k would be probably be reasonable for this one. Just gorgeous tho...
This is an awesome feat of an artistic carpentry of a one man's job. Those wood grains are designed, cut, glued, very neat and precise are insane. Just pure talent and skill rolled into one. EXCELLENT!!!!
He should've gone minimalist. The top part of the base is fine for balancing the load, but I would've just gone with the straight plain 1:1 legs at the bottom. That would've looked very clean.
Wow. The amount of work involved in putting something this intricate together so flawlessly is astounding, and I'm not even talking about physical labor. A true artist and craftsman, consider me subbed, lol.
I second all the positive comments! The ingenuity, creativity, productivity and craftsmanship exhibited on this project is amazing. Ryan, I think you are inspiring and hopefully others feel the same way. I had to like and subscribe!
Just happened across this video, so glad I did! What a unique piece. Didn't see the design until you shelaced it, what a surprise! Love the style of base you chose, reminds me of traditional Japanese Tenon and mortise.
Ryan, Your work is incredible!!! The 3D effect of the top of table is really mesmerizing. GREAT JOB and I wish you and your family a lot of magic moments spend next to this AMAZING TABLE!
I just cant get over how the table looks!!!! And ur lumber rakes r very full!!! I dont ever come close to what u have. Wow!!! I can take some off ur hand!!! Lol!!!
Amazing video edits. Amazing table. Amazing wood working shop. Amazing collection of clamps xD What i find even more amazing is that you made it to keep it. This table will last for many many years. The memories your family will have of the past meals on the table. Im sure the table will be passed on from generation to generation.
I'm late commenting but I have to say this table is awesome! The pattern jumps out at you from whatever angle you look at it. Very impressive. Just beautiful! Great job!
The ending is the best. It is truly priceless when it brings the family together like that. Beautiful table. The pattern is truly remarkable.
Beautiful craftsmanship!
My late Dad was a woodworker. He always said "You can Never have enough Clamps."
👏
Excellent to see that woodprix has new plans what helped me save some money and energy to build it.
My father would say, "If you think you'll need 30. Buy 50." Man, I miss the GOAT.
Very true

What a fortunate child, to grow up looking at that pattern, knowing dad made it.
God bless you guys.
Knowing his dad will be forever better than him at everything :)
@@PopulousableBro you hold a unique pattern at way to high of value, its neat. But nothing worth dying over.
Exactly my thoughts!!
Not only is that one impressive table ... the amount of wood in his shop is staggering!
That was my thought! I would love to have just a quarter of that supply!

This is art, under the form of a table!
Incredible!
An UNBELIEVABLE amount of work that you put into this table Ryan. Looks FANTASTIC!
