Out of the references in the music, I was especially surprised to hear the "Staff Roll" leitmotif used for this, as that has always been perhaps one of the saddest credits themes for me and still is. Brilliant work with this one!

People in these comments keep hearing the staff roll leitmotif in this as super dour, I hear the opposite. To me, it's a bittersweet second wind, tears rolling down your cheeks and a faint smile on your face as you reflect on the happy memories, using them to embolden you at this turning point in the battle, sparing one more exchange before the strings are cut.
her second phase sprite would be her eyes opened and being pink, her tired phase being on the floating throne.

@altermike3197 he's not treated as a lightner here, so he simply doesn't. also the colors matching is purely a coincidence based on colors established in the mario franchise (like blue goombas from the smb1 underground color palette) and the pink bully being a reference to the pink bob-ombs as counterparts to the black bob-ombs.
