Note: I was requested to take down part 2. Part 1 will remain up for now. I was told that the full video is being remastered and will be available on www.beercityrecords.com sometime this spring. Enjoy! Видеоклипы
I have been playing drums and writing music for 18 yrs. and Felix was one of my main 'hardcore drumming' influences growing up. He owns it! It was him and Lombardo! Let him know for me that he is appreciated as an artist.
they fucking killed it live!!! (my 1st show was COC and DRI at the Metroplex in '86 or '87). this video is just like time travel. was such a rad scene. great video. cheers.
these guys always had freakin good shows i still have autographs from the times ive seen them play one of the best bands from texas
I was at this show. No better venue to see a show then the old Ritz....

I miss the Ritz. Soo many awesome shows.
love the sound of spikes guitar , felix's drums and joshes bass with kurts vocals .each one totally sticks out but mesh together perfectly for that distinctive d.r.i. sound. killer stuff
I own this DVD. its a real relic D.R.I. for ever!!
Good times.Lost my shoe stage diving at the old cubby bear in Chicago in 89.Spike found my shoe on stage and told me to come get it.Got on stage, got my shoe, stage dived back off.Got my shoe back, got kicked out for stage diving too many times.Spike seen me kicked out,got back in,and got laid that night.Life was grand. For these great moments in my life,I must go to any of their shows I can.
i get goose bumps thinking about seeing them in january :)

thanks for the share and for these precisions
sick! this was THE first show i went to!
This video takes me back about 20 some years ago. Man have things changed since then. My metal friends made fun of me liking punk and my punk friends made fun of me for liking metal back then.
both you guys are right. the kids today listen to it, and play it, but its not the same. they will never know, unfortunately.
they really dont understand.
Oh hell yeah bro,thx for putting this up.
I was there!!!!! Good times!
What a great band.
my fave crossover thrash band!!!!!!
I was at this concert & did a Judo throw on some chubby skin head who had been charging full speed into unsuspecting people who got too close to the mosh pit while watching the band on stage, slamming & knocking them to the floor. A lot of people got hurt pretty bad by him & he was doing it all night long.
He'd imitate Curly from the 3 Stooges by slapping the front of his forehead & waving his arms to the side, then run full speed into them.
Then when I got too close to the pit, i see him in the corner of my eye, pulling his Curly act & I knew he was coming for me. Unfortunately for him, I had been taking Judo lessons for years, so I waited until the last second & grabbed the chubby skin head f**k & did the Judo throw called "De Ashi Barai," which was so PERFECTLY executed, I sent him flying pretty far in the air using his own momentum against him.
The crowd of people split like the Red Sea from Moses, opening a space for him to land & slam his head on the floor, knocking him out cold, as he finally slid to a stop.
32 years later, it still puts a big smile on my face! I wish I could talk to him now & ask him how it felt...
they are back rehearsing, and play here in l.a. on dec 20th.cant wait!
One of the most underrated bands. Grindcore was breached a couple times. ;)
The Minneapolis show in 1989 was insane, they got unplugged during the encore. Than the manager guy was on stage telling us all to get the hell out. They didn't like all the diving, so anyways, when the suit and tie guy was on stage, Spike Cassidy hit him in the back with his guitar, and knocked him off the stage.
Hey kids..THIS is how it is done....Can ya feel the fekkin passion they put into it? Like it's the last thing they will ever do!! Untouchable!!
DRI DRI DRI DRI DRI DRI DRI
i mentioned this in the video description too -- not sure if everyone heard but spike cassidy (dri guitarist) just got diagnosed with intestinal cancer. there is a relief fund, and everyone should paypal over a few bucks to help him out. (google search for more info)
grande D.R.I.
SALUDOS DESDE PERU!
fucking gys D.R.I..............the best of Crossover and the sound from the Rickenbacker bass is great
this band did more to unite metal (thrash) than any other band. I remember as a kid a distance between metal and the punkers and DRI and Slayer brought us together as one Thrash union.
i agree, that's one of my favorite parts of the vid
that show was the first one i ever saw on video! fucking awesome
notable video!!!!!!!!!
tremenda banda D.R.I.
Wooow! Saludos from Argentina
REALLY GOOD D.R.I.
Was this The Ritz in Austin, Texas on 6th Street? I saw DRI there once, maybe twice in the 80s as well as lots of other great bands. That was Austin's punk rock hotspot for a long time.
Right on!
I hope to see 'em in July! Even if the concert won't be like this :c
Makes me go back 24 years ago when i saw them twice in the same night. 1st show for underages and then a 2nd show later in the evening with booze for 18 and up. They were out of this world. They should be lining up with the big guys at metal shows, what happened to them?
+zabibullahastarothbrigades No idea , never saw that myself, everyone was getting along.
@Swiatek702 Yup! Saw em in Dallas in February, 2020 (I think it was Feb. Been going to lots of shows lately). Not as good as in the 80s but still incredible to hear all their classics live, and the gig sold out far in advance.
hell yeah D.R.I.
Hi from Portugal...Thrash on!!!
DRI were great. I'm from Canada & I went to a show at the ritz in 1989 (bad brains) & the whole night packs of skinheads were attacking random people. They even started it outside in the long line to get in. That ruined the show for the ones who got beat.
I agree with tou BurlBrule, the Crossover LP was tha fastest metal music around in early 80's..every song lasted like 2 mins or less.
ok thanks man i will check it out
What I would do to be able to see these guys live in the uk.
I saw DRI open for Slayer at L'Amours in Brooklyn in 85 or 86.
sweeeet tnx bro for the info
from their website:
12.15.06 UPDATED: Spike has now completed all radiation and chemo-therapy. All is going well with his rehabilitation and he is expected to make a full recovery soon. D.R.I. expects to be on tour in 2007 for its 25th anniversary.
man thats one crazy crowd
holy shit. DRI and Slayer, wow! lucky!
Hardcore papai!!
Animadinho...
man i wish they were still playin shows
thrashhard123 I know this was 10 years ago, but maybe...just maybe you're still out there. It is now April of 2020 and they have been playing shows. I saw em in Dallas in February. Still incredible, but not as good as the 80s.
had this on vhs pure class.can u download it anywere on net.....
@TruemetalandpunkONLY
Hell yes! Good times!
This is exactly why they named the album crossover. To unite the Punk Rockers and Thrashers. Punk Rockers were already starting to get into Slayer, Motorhead, and Metallica(back in the day) so D.R.I. , thats when they flipped their sound to the Mutual to get the Metal Heads out to see Bad Religion, Minor Threat, and Final Conflict.
pogo ultra violento!!!! Los esperamos en argentina:) para trashear!!!!
Felix, inventor of the blastbeat.
dude,
les paul with floyd,

wooo d.r.i metal and punk wooo
i wish i was there in 1987 fuck i wish i was alive then hahah
yeah what an awesome magazine thrasher is
cool band
Sweet
About 3 decades with a bunch of sub-genres. If you want to go back to the roots, the best thing is to look at bands that came out of the DC and LA punk scenes and pursue it from there.
Basically try listening to early Black Flag, Bad Brains, Circle Jerks, Minor Threat, and The Dead Kennedys (they were a punk band, but 'In God We Trust' is a decidedly more 'hardcore' release).
precisamente le comento a mi esposa de este toquin cuando veo tu comentario..fue por la zona de sanjuan de dios...o por medrano no recuerdo bien
DRI rules!!
what good hardcore bands are there im into thrash and crossover and thinking seeing if i can get into some hardcore
what is the name of the second song they sing?????????
if you're into thrash I'd say the first suicidal tendencies album is perfect, thats what got me into punk in general from mostly thrash
what is the difference between the two ?
name of the songs?
@2000jago They're referring to the crossover of metal, punk, thrash etc. Not pop music.
Is this the same venue where S.O.D's 'Live at Budokan' was filmed?
badass
yeah suicidal tendencies is a pretty awesome band
2nd Song is called No Religion I believe
DRI DRI DRI!!!!!
Hey nrohto1. My first show was also DRI, Kreator and Holy Terror at the old Channel in Boston. Do you remember the date of your show? I think mine was in Aug. of 1988. I wish I still had the stub.
Cheers.
hey its not in order!
oh well its still kicks ass!
fuckin badass
I donated five bucks!
@Haroldscotclark peppermint beach club in virginia beach?!?!
About 3 decades of evolution with a lot of sub-genres carved out of hardcore. If you want to go back to the roots, then you'd have to look at LA and DC punk bands. Hardcore is just an abbreviation of 'hardcore punk' and was just an evolution of the original punk from the late 70s with a focus on being faster/harder.
So I'd say start with Bad Brains, early Black Flag (early singles and Damaged), Minor Threat, the Circle Jerks, and The Dead Kennedys, and D.O.A.
Please the Gods I'll see them in Czech Republic this Summer. God I'm gonna be so Broke!!!! (geddit?)
I agree with you dude, felix rocks, especially in this old DRI shit. He couldn't be much older than like 18 years old when this was recorded. Any idea what he's up to nowadays?
He's playing with Blunt Force Trauma in Austin. Google 'em!
d.r.i. no religion is my favorite. crossover is the best at vinyl. mike73
L'Amours had some of the best fucking shows in the planet. Saw Slayer before they made it big. You should of seen DRI at CB's
hey bro.... dead horse came out of houston .. and they kicked real ass
I got it in a video store for 25$ :)
hard to believe its 80s...
@TruemetalandpunkONLY thats fucking true, that is how i have always viewed dri.
it was the true line-up also héhé
The punch up in this gig is awesome. The bonehead bouncer braining someone in the crowd and getting punched by about almost everyone else
fuck yeah punk and metal rulez!
thrashhard!!
@epdonohue LUCKY!!!
