It’s called pass the buck, painters should not touch plots like that until all trades have done their work properly. Why aren’t they called back to fix the crap.
Toshers like that will never own a decorating business, that’s why you have these toshers on site, but I also blame the site owners, who pay pittance, as the saying goes, you get what you pay for.
I can't think of a more satisfying job on the painters scene, then getting your chaulk and gunning round door frames, switches and sockets etc. It makes the place so much neater and it's so quick and easy. Shocking
Mark I pissed myself buddy some of that filler not rubbed down and painted straight over gunning up missed. No pride in and and out cop for there brass and some poor sod has to go back and snag. Great vid funny look forward to the next one mark all the best buddy
I have a 3 bedroom semi that required more than a bit of filler lol. about 13 bags of bonding and 11 bags of finish plaster😁 the decorators are in now though so full steam ahead...
Well, I'm italian painter and I don't Know all the steps in the plot constructions in UK... but as far as I can see, as a painter, I refuse to paint that plot till all the trades don't complete their work properly. To me it's simply clear that the work before painting is not complete and anyway made by people with no skill or what you want. It's not all fault of painters...
Some one with a bit of common sense blame the painter for the plasterers bad work . Yeah some was his fault but not all . I love the electricians and plumbers that drill in the wrong place then we slap them with a charge and they don’t like it. Nothing for free in this world
some sites asking for caulking up sockets prior to start your job but most of the time they are fitted without being leveled out as there are still electricians working on them.
Turd polishing Like you say the woodwork has to right that’s our domain The plastering especially skimming is always shit should only have to spend an hour on completion repairing the odd bump dent etc not every socket Other trades take the piss out of us but it’s never gonna change
Exactly. As I said even the non snagged areas are Shocking. Brush marks and long nap rollers galore. If I was buying a new house I'd insist on handpicking my plasterers and painters.
Nothing will change until prices are better then there’s no excuses. Building mentality in this country is dire and they bring it on themselves by being greedy
once you pick up those reflected areas other stuff that hasn't been marked out will be problem , it would look as you would not touch it at all 😅. Redec with sanding woodwork , walls then filling up holes and dents , lots of gypsium skimming throughout plot after plasterers to get it right . 5 days job . I bet managers just said to pick up dots haha .
This is the thing about the brush in these thrown up cut corner do it as quick as you can and run off with the money before it all falls down cowboy plots, it's all down to the poor old tosher in the end when the "budgets" run out to make everyone elses shoddy work look good, of course they don't want to pay for too much extras (I couldn't live with not filling around those pipes from the boiler). it beggars belief these lot even masked stuff off cause would have been a better finish without doing that, but if you have to mask up stuff like that say no more about the type of painter they are... One plot me and the mucker used 50 bags of filler in 2 rooms, filling with a plastering trowel, it would have probably been easier to reskim the bugger with the quality of plaster work (which seemed to have been approved?! where is the clerk of works these days lol.) Don't get me started on toshers doing things that used to be Chippies jobs either :D :D :D
May be the dork who inspects the plot could have a run through before they are all painted over and make sure things are taken on board by the painter as need be. they could dot it up before hand and then again after, Then one would think it would be a lot less at the end.
@@dman3448 I disagree. I used to paint, I've always gone round with the decorators caulk/painters mate, done all light switches, electrical switches, skirting, door frames etc before painting. prep it, paint it.
Some lads just don’t cut it , if they could they would have done it right the first time, if everything was smooth they would still manage to make it rough , trust me I’ve seen it plenty of times , ya fighter boom Shaka 😂
The worst bit is face filling the bits around the edges where masking tape has been removed and pulled the paint of the wall. You can't just paint over that. Messy job in there. Plastering is not great either.
Well that’s it ain’t it. In all seriousness though why should new plaster need filling? It’s a brand new finish! I dunno why people just accept rough plastering. It’s like getting a bricklayer to build a wall for you then afterwards you got to go around filling the odd perp joint he missed. You wouldn’t accept it!
Is this a new build? 😳 even the non snagged areas are shocking. Orange peel and paint brush marks galore on the walls and lumps and bumps on the woodwork 🤮
You say they should do more filling. Why can't the spreads get it right and proper in the first place. Do you ever see plasterers snagging their own shitty work ?. No you friggin don't.
The woodwork is definitely shit and the painters fault but alot of the plastering needs aimsing , site agent should have the patcher go through it then the painter , me personally would leave anything down to the patcher and fill all painter drinks no bigger then a 50p coin , good luck candle man
The painting trade is to easy to get into. I’ve met cleaners, labourers, prisoners taking up painting. Painters should be asked to show qualifications tht there times served

Who do you think employees them ? A tosher who runs a painting firm that’s who 🤣
Toshers? Anyone can paint a granny's front room for £500.
Put these private Decs on a new house and they don't have a clue where to start
Gonna take a few coats to cover all those stickers!

Do the non highlighted defects never get resolved, or do they become your problem after the agent's second check over?
The first year of me serving my time as a painte,r i sanded, filled and painted skirting boards.I even wire wooled staircases.
Like you say candleman some guys just don't help them selves! like just scrapping the walls down and a bit of easy fill. Top video as usual👍🏻🚬

I think the plasterer used a knife and fork to plaster that house

Yes 👏
Not on all sites

I would have run out of stickers in that place. 😀

Bloody hell that's rough , the standard of plastering not helping much by the looks of it though.

Looks like they put a 2nd year apprentice into a plot just ruff all over
Shocking , would the original painter actually get paid for this ?
He would get paid sir, he probably has boat payments too.
Its time. There just isnt enough time on those prices. Those bits and pieces have to be picked up on the snag.

99.9 per cent of plasterers are shite. The rough finish around those sockets and switches is down to them, not the painter.
The painter should still be able to make it look better than that that's disgusting.
No . The onus is still on the spread to do the job right...

More sticker coverage than paint lol.....just paint over the stickers lol 🔥🔫
You get paid shit money to tosh out these plots I really don’t know what your expecting. This is why I would never do cheap work.
I agree William full redec
A bit of this and a bit of that and pull those stickers and throw away the punch list. Then back charge for fixing other tradesmen banging your work.

No filling No sanding. Should get the painter who done it to put it right without pay. They would soon up there game or send them packing.
