i haven't done new builds for about 12 years but we had to put a four inch margin down the stairs in case of stair runners, so he was probably doing what he was taught to do

I never understand why they want magnolia in new builds, quicker and easier to go brilliant white you can hit the walls same time as the ceiling spray up the whole house in a day, it's only to sell the property and brilliant white would be fine, leave it upto the buyer to pick a colour it would make it easier for the buyer aswel painting their colour over white instead of magi

I'd rather have the guy that painted this new build, painting MY house, than the channel owner, who seems to think he can do the bare minimum just because 'it's a new build and he aint' gunna' be here in 6 months time' ffs.
    Shit attitude.

Exactly, it's a poor thing to criticise someone for trying to actually do a decent job as opposed to the lowest standard in the least amount of time.

I'm surprised at your age, not painting the hinges for instance. It's called pride in your work
Albeit, i only do private, not site work.
If i started painting hinges, i wouldn't get called back next time they need decorating done.
I've only stumbled on this video, is it because your only a painter and not a painter and decorator?
    Not trolling, just wondering.

Painting a margin on the steps like that is an old fashion thing when people couldn't afford wall to wall carpet. You'd usually have a thin strip of carpet in the middle held down with stair rods. It looks quite nice if the steps aren't all wrecked.

Cutting in not good. If the ceiling line is dodgy caulk it in two coat of white matt. Then cut in with magnolia. Nice straight lines. First thing the site agent will look at are the ceiling lines and, the cutting in on the skirting boards.
