i personally think that from enema to pre BCR/pop disaster tour blink was the true prime of band, 1999-2001.... the mark and tom banter was at its best and almost felt like stand up comedy and the setlist were pretty great and tom sounded the best during that time, before he got his back injuries
but i do think this is the coolest the band has been, playing even faster than before and slightly more aggressive, it just captured the self titled era pretty well, but i think tom got way clumsier on vocals and it was kind of a downer for me....and well maybe i dont enjoy this era as much because i know its kind of the end of blink so it feels kinda bittersweet, knowing they werent getting along at all and just a few months later they broke up the band

The self titled album is where I had to just stop listening. It doesn't fit at ALL with everything else they've done before it and is just trying way to hard to prove they can be "emo" when they never needed to be. They had their own style. Why change that up so indie scene girls will like you? Plus, those songs don't mesh AT ALL with how funny they are on stage,

I’m 34 years old. From L.A. And been into this band since 1996,. Everyone always said how shitty they sound. But that’s considered normal in the genre they always performed, it never sounds exactly like the album, they never played to a track, a click or lip sync, it was always sped up, vocals a little off note with music, but that’s normal. This was a very good live band. From 1999 to 2002 I went to about 40 of their shows, so I got to see them play the same exact sets days in a row and some days you could tell it was work to them, but for a 3 piece band it was always very....good.

Their best gig in my opinion, they were on fire here, don't know if the tensions at the time added to the aggression and intensity but it's AWESOME. You can tell as well with the interludes in Rock Show, Stay Together for the Kids, I Miss You, Adam's Song, the outro and Tom's picking before Down, and the intro to Asthenia they were naturally going in the sort of direction Tom went with Angels. The atmospheric vibe, moody and eerie echoes, delay pedals etc.
Gutting they broke up, we would have got some game-changing, amazing post punk style records.

It's so hard to believe the tension that was going on behind the scenes. They played so good and so fast and so awesome.

2004 This Show Blink > 2018 KROQ Weenie Roast Blink
WTF happened? This was also just before they broke up. You can maybe see/feel some tension between Mark & Tom.

I love the shows from when they hated each other, they played fast and angry. All the live stuff from after the album but before the breakup are so good imo. But yeah it wouldn't be like this with Tom still anyways

They toured constantly throughout 04 and didn’t start to hate each other until the end of the year when Tom pulled out of 05 tour dates. They were demoing songs together for their next album at this point. If only they made it..

@@timothym3777 Some of those songs ended up on Neighborhoods or at the very least the concepts for them. I know that Snake Charmer was being demoed when they were still recording the Untitled album. In one of those old recording session videos you can hear the beginning guitar riff 33 seconds into the song for Snake Charmer in the background of the video. I think Natives might have been another one that was demoed around that time or a little after.

34:23 Mark's speech about internet, technology and cellphones... sounds so weird listened now in 2020.
Year 2004: Facebook had just been born. The first model of iPhone should be commercialized 3 years later. The social era, no one could imagine what would happen just few years later
