seriously, if the kids somehow legitimately that big and dangerous (unlikely but possible, I've met a couple who could come close to hurting adults,ESPECIALLY considering the modern rules teachers have to follow, they practically can't even defend themselves) and IF that was an issue here, correct, it should've been addressed much earlier.

A teacher that hurt a child to the point of the child needing medical treatment, is UNFIT to remain employed. With everyone saying mental health is something to be taken into consideration; how TF does a teacher do this to a 5 year old, let alone them being a special needs 5 year old and all that appears to have happened is losing their job?? You know d@mn well that if the right thing had been done from the start, this teacher would be in jail, not just jobless. Self defense is NOT A VALID defense against a 5 year old, EVER. Drop the teacher's name and what they did

This makes me sick. It hits close to home for me as someone with high functioning autism who once needed lots of help in kindergarten too as I was mostly nonverbal at 5. My strange behaviors & social problems could definitely frustrate adults but I couldn't imagine my kindergarten teacher harming me in response to being flustered. In fact she did everything she could to help me with any "behavioral issues" if you can call them that & she connected my mom with resources & doctors at a time & place when there weren't many.
It requires patience, passion, & care to work with young children, obviously those are things the awful teacher of this story lacks.
I truly wonder how people like the evil teacher get careers in early education to begin. Like if you can't handle your emotions around 5 year olds you certainly shouldn't be working with children at all. For all we know if someone is willing to break children's fingers it probably isn't the first time they've hurt children which is a disturbing thought for sure.
I'm also not buying that self defense claim & I guess the school didn't either because they let her go although they probably just care more about saving themselves from the bad PR circus since their actions before it went public show that they weren't the slightest bit concerned at the time that it happened.
As for the parents, I hope something positive can come out of this & they can heal. I imagine it broke their hearts finding out their baby suffered at school all day with broken bones caused by his own teacher no less so my heart does go out to the family.💖

I went to an elementary school in phlugerville. I am high functioning autistic and as a child had behavioral issues. I went to a BMC program in that school and I have personally experienced abuse in the school. All the students were abused for minor offenses like refusing to do work, sit still, or even humming. We were sat on, pinched, and restrained to the point of turning purple. I’m 33 years old now, but I still remember vividly the loneliness of being a kid and begging subjected to this on a daily basis and having no one to talk to. I just gave up. This is super sad and I’m very happy the parents care about their son and took him to the hospital.

Reminds me when I was 9 years old in 4th grade. I had a teacher that did something similar in around the mid 2000's. We got new science books and we had them open and it was lunch time so I got up and pushed off of book laying on my desk and I slipped and I ripped a page by accident and my teacher was behind me and saw this so she smiled and chuckled while stroking my hair as I was sitting there then suddenly she yanks my hair for a few seconds. Later after school my mom saw the red blisters in on my head and took me to the doctor and confirmed someone pulled my hair. She said her wedding ring got caught in my hair. But it was obviously a lie because she used her right hand not her left hand that has the wedding ring. Nothing came from it and they just moved me to another class.
