a year or so after an apocalypse all cars would be un drivable. Gasoline separates over time and becomes useless. Unfortunately I doubt the complex refining and pumping processes/ along with delivery to stations will continue after a world ending event lol

U need tools if u are not going to replace anything u need tools and lot of time, and every long sitting car needs new fluids. I found old rusty mondeo Mk2 in woods, and without replacing parts it took me 5 hours to start it. It was in rly bad condition, in the end when everything was ok, it didnt start, then thought of fuse box and it was this. U can use everyday things to fix something, like these guys used dolls head. Instead of some tools.

It's just like 99% of all crazy youtube videos: fake. They found the car, paid a real mechanic crew to get it workable for the 20 minutes of driving footage needed, had the actors come in and "fix it" for the show, drive around till it exploded, and then left it on the side of the road for someone else to deal with.

Why on earth they dont just make a new fallout in that engine I will never understand. Its absolutely beautiful and runs as smooth as silk. Imagine a fallout game with smooth id tech gunplay, bethesda style world building/dialogue/quests, and sci fi 50's era junker car combat.. along with mod support. The game would have a longer shelf life than freaking skyrim.

There's a difference between "getting a car running well enough that it runs from,point A to point B for a limited time" and "keeping a car in good enough shape that it can regularly drive on the highway, keep up woth traffic, regularly meets local emissions standards (i.e. no rusted off catalytic converter or smoky engine) and doesn't get you written up and fined by a traffic police officer for not meeting local safety standards". Also these guys had nothing to worry about really. While it would have sucked for them if they couldn't get the car running, they could have just hitched a ride with the film crew bsck to civilisation and found another abanonded car to repair if they couldn't get that one working. Also this car was free. You needed to worry about keeping your car in good running order. Also you paid good money for your car so it'd suck more for you if your car stopped running then it would for them if their car stopped running
I mean... they put gas in the car, mounted weels, and replaced a battery. It wasnt exactly a marvel of mechanical knowledge. It was a neat watch but lets be real here. They arent going to do something complex like rebuild a head or replace a timing belt with junk like that lmao. Never mind the fact that car probably has a few hundred miles in it, if that if they dont bother putting proper oil/filter in it. All the ingenuity in the world wont fix physics from happening. And internal friction/rust is an engine killer.
