Hey Loser :-) Nikon and Olympus are both in medical imaging and optics (scopes/binocs). Maybe Olympus should have used the Micro 4/3rds name for the microscope division though. I still have my Olympus cameras, but haven't been shooting much the last 4 years, so I'm still a M43 loser. I had a pair of Olympus binoculars I got with rewards points and I think I left them at the Daytona Speedway a few years ago. Were a nice pair. I'm typing this while wearing my Olympus "micro" fleece jacket. Also got with rewards points....lol It's very warm, even down here in FL winter ...lol. Never tried the sushi. Don't eat sushi.
I just switched to Olympus after 20 years of shooting with Canon (APS-C). It was the 12-100mm F/4 IS Pro lens that made me do it. 24-200mm full frame range with a constant aperture of f/4, razor sharp quality and the best IBIS + OIS you can get... it almost sounded too good to be true. I do mainly travel photography (city, street, landscape, architecture) and basically replaces everything I had to take take with my 70D (Tokina 11-16 F2.8, Canon 24-105 F4, Canon 70-200 F4). Sure, a bit less bokeh... but waaaaay more versatility. Olympus is highly underrated. The OM-1 and E-M1iii for photography are amazing... never thought such small cameras could deliver so much punch... for way less money. Pound for pound, I don't think you get better value than this.
00:37 What people don't realise is that a lens is ALWAYS in focus - it's just that the focal plane may not necessarily coincide with the intended subject matter.
In the seventies, eighties and nineties, Carl Zeiss optics were noticeably better than most other optics, but somehow they continue to deliver on pure placebo to this day.
Zeiss is a different company nowadays. Their European factory only makes lab equipment. The camera lens manufacturing has been moved to Japan. They also license their brand so the Zeiss lenses for Sony were in fact made in Sony's factory, not by Zeiss.
Others just caught up at making quality glass and I think theres a ceiling on how good lenses can get. Still really enjoyed the 32mm f/1.8 for Fuji X. It has a vintage character due to their low element/group count
@@Keckegenkai Nothing new. Japanese lens makers surpassed the German ones in the 1970s. After that, it was mainly about which house look you preferred.
@@audioupgrades I wouldnt say surpassed but equal especially for the 70s. They were alot cheaper due to difference in ecconomy between Germany and Japan.
This Zeiss was my latest purchase too. I've been buying up all the Zeiss I can afford for the E-mount, incase Zeiss decide to leave and return to their home world. The 35/2.8 has quite the breathing problem, so avoid smoking near it.
Hard to not like these tiny full frame lenses but I still love the Panasonic Leica 15mm T1.7 Now only if Panasonic or Olympus would make a full featured tiny camera to pair with it
If you didn’t have a camera system, but had former photographer experience and wanted to get into the Sony system, would you go A7C II or ZV-E1? I want to do a mix of still and video/vlogging when traveling. I feel like the 12 MP in the ZV-E1 wouldn’t do the still photography justice.
I am still using Olympus for my photography. Just love it. No handshake needed. 😂 OM-1 AF is very precise and mostly just needs getting used to it. I indeed hope they do some serious R&D still, not so promising lately. But I have enough good old Oly hardware to keep it going for some years now, even if they went out of business today. The Zeiss footage looks very good indeed, seems to be a keeper!
Zeiss 35f2.8 on the a7CII is basically the same size as the X100V. Idk what Fujifilm is doing making everything larger than three different Sony fullframe models.
Wild boars are quite vicious! They are heavily hunted in Texas. Maybe you do have a photographer hunt. Let them loose for 10 minutes then hunt them down with a cinematic rig and viciously capture them on video!! LOL! The yellow studio light turned purple! I think you're right about Fuji. They WANT to do good things with video, but when it gets down to actually doing it they default to appeasing the photography folks. I am a photography guy...sorry, and I use an X-T3. It's great for photography. I've seen it used by folks for video and with good looking results. I have just been a bit intimidated by the whole video process. Seems so friggin' complicated. I want something that will be easy both to shoot with and to edit. Right now I'm mostly into hiking/exploration. When you started your vlogging did you script what you wanted to do in each video so you didn't sound unprepared or just ramble on? Have a great weekend!!!
Big fan, but feeling sorry for the guy called out for thanking you for making the videos. He's probably a fan who keeps hearing how lots of comments help the algorithm for the channel. Maybe you should thank him for thanking you and you guys can keep going back and forth that way till Christmas.
What made for me personally the past weeks the most fun was not a proper camera or lens, except maybe the R7+ RF 800 F11 combo i use the most for birding. Its a Sony point and shoot from 2004, a DSC-P100. My first "real camera" i ever had. Took me a while to find memory sticks but i got some and a DSC-P200 as well. Sure enough, its full frame equivalent focal length of like 38-115mm, up to about 200mm with digital zoom is horrendous, video is like 160p and 640p normal and fine, but it fits easily in the pocket. You cant use it for any kind of wildlife except dead one i guess, video is pretty... 2004 like with 640x480 and MPEG XV codec, As "bad" as those images look, P100 as well P200... they have their own character, especially due to the CCD sensor they capture light so much different and it looks "good" in its own way. Oh, and both have a Zeiss lens, should mean something.
As a previous owner of the C100 MKI (Purchased when it came out), I was NEVER happy with the footage. Colours were brutal, WB was inaccurate and the 8 bit fell apart when grading more than what should be expected. So good job not picking it up. A7S3 is still king... minus of course the firmware upgrade.
I feel it is only proper to ask the true cinema master for my next path in life. Being beaten down for years by the EOS R's handicap of only shooting 10-bit 4k through an HDMI, which is the better option to steal the cinema from everyone else, the FX-3 or the R5C?
Kasey, i remember you also owned sony 28 t2 long time ago. I'm wondering if zeiss 35 t2.8 any better due to it's lacking tonies and that i'm on sony apsc for some reason. is it enough tone? (42 mm equiv would be preferable to 52.5 but zeiss maybe have the magic) please help
Fujifilm makes tons of medical equipment. Their revenue is higher than Nikon by far. Sony is the clear leader in revenue though, way more than Canon. The companies' wiki pages have some revenue info.
No reason to get upset that you messed up lighting the day you were testing the C100 mk ii. Maybe you should try vLoging with it, I heard the C100 mk ii is really good for vlogging. Remember Petere back in the day vlogging with a full rig... maybe you should try it to get a better image, also try canon log on c100 mk ii it will help when you don't know what you are doing.. BTW I thought Canadan's were overly nice? BTW again: I too have the OG pocket... C100 mk ii crushes it all day long, unless you are going to do real color grading, then OG wins.
Hi Kasey, the background separation of the Zeiss lens might be too much for some as when you walk, it looks like the background is projected on a canvas and you walk in front of it, like in the old movies.
It was definitely stolen. He had none of the stuff that comes with a lens, he sold it for cheap, and none of his neighbors expected him to have a lens? WOW
As a former crack smoker, there's nothing to fear of us. Just mention youre in to cameras and we'll be down to talk. Until we need that crack smoke again in three minutes. 😂😂
Zeiss matters, as they say... but does it really in this case? I've owned the Sony Zeiss 35/2.8 - uninspiring f/2.8, poor close focus stats, plenty of loca, and overall meh-performance. Yes, AF is pretty good, it is lightweight, and it says Zeiss on it, but still - plenty of better lenses out there.
So a question from a loser. I can't remember if it is in this video or another I watched but I notice you label the Canon 50mm f1.2 assigning it a T score of T1.2. My question is, is it really a T score of T1.2? I have taken this comment from a dpreview thread discussing the RF, not EF, lens and you will see why I am questioning your R score. And I quote: "If you have read the recent 50mm test reports from DxO you may have noticed the astonishing fact that the so called f1.2 RF is in fact a T1.5 lens. It doesn’t even let as much light in as an f1.4 lens..."

That's what stops me from going panasonic. The whole reason I like 4/3 is tinyness.
This is why I stick with Olympus bodies EM 5 and smaller. If you want tiny, go with an Olympus Pen Lite body or a Panasonic GX-1.
Congrats on purchase of that Zeiss!
Zeiss 3d pop was ours! Looks great, but a bit shaky on the vlog side, have to see more! Great lens find and worth every Canadian penny you spent!
