    I really like the terrain, the nicely painted forces, and the slightly asymmetric nature of this game, but most of all I like the pacing and the audio quality of the batrep. Great job. Very nice to watch. Makes me want to break out my Flames of War and get painting!

    This was fantastic. I like your story-telling-way for a battle reporting.
    and your special effects, witch makes the guns looking like they are shooting, are amazing.

    Pretty cool battle report, easily understandable what is happening on table and cool loking table and models, cant wait to have some games of V4 after so long. Greetings from Spain.

    Great batrep with cool terrain and well painted armies. Also great video, not shakey like so many that make me sea sick. Remember, when guns on a hill fire, targets behind short terrain like hedges, walls, fences and wheat fields do NOT get cover, If they don't have cover they can't have gone to ground. That is what makes hills so vital. Defenders would still get cover from woods or buildings. When you can't penetrate the front armour of tigers, shoot smoke at them. That's what my poor British Shermans with short 75s do. (But maybe Russians can't fire smoke.) The Russians were outnumbered in points so the end result is not a surprise.

    Despite some of the rules hiccups I really enjoy the format of these battle reports. Seems like an excellent game.
    I believe rail road embankments provide bullet proof cover for infantry teams.

      They’re actually flat terrain according to the rule book terrain chart, but I’ve played it both ways depending on what we’re feeling

    Yay more flames of war! I like this size of game. It doesn't take forever or turn into a slogfest.

      Hope you enjoy! It’s a box battle so won’t be totally balanced.

      @@MiniatureGameMontage with small forces like this we usually ignore or reduce the break test rules to the last man standing so the game doesn't end too fast.

    Table seemed very wide open, which is ok sometimes. I don’t play much V4 but I did have a few questions from Soviet turn 1. The SU-152’s intentionally moved out of commend to be on either side of the iSU-122’s? And can you cross country dash across the rail lines? Wouldn’t that have been the shorter terrain dash?
    I do absolutely love your presentation though.

      Will check here in a bit. I think rail lines do count as terrain dash if you cross them

    I have not kept up with Flames of War. Looks like unorthodox forces to me but fun with some scouting vehicles, infantry-tanks-artillery :)

      Yep! Going to try to do a mid-war box battle next which will be more reflective of an actual battle.

    I always seem very interested in getting in to flames of war and even brought a starter set sitting in my cupboard but it just always seems to me when I watch battle reports it’s off putting that compared to 40K/fantasy where I have come from that so many dice rolls require a minimum of 6 followed by another high roll and so many turns nothing seems to happen due to this and the games look pretty lack luster? In reality is that the case for most games? Excuse my naivety if I’m wrong lol

    • @MiniatureGameMontage
      @MiniatureGameMontage  6 месяцев назад +1

      For me, just rolling dice for the outcome isn’t what makes it fun. And keep in mind everyone will be different. I like to imagine the shot I’m taking and how easy or difficult it would be to hit and let the dice tell the story. I think Flames of War is a good system for this but it’s definitely not a game for everyone. You just have to try it and see if it fits your taste. 🙂
