I can't stress enough how important it is to start learning how to hybrid pick early on in your guitar journey! I hope you guys like the lesson. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions. Thanks for watching!
I started hybrid picking about 2 years after i started playing guitar. I just naturally picked it up when i was listening to players like Billy Gibbons, Eric Johnson and Angus Young playing and it's now a major part of my own playing style. Interesting for me though i don't really use it when i play lead or solos, i can do it pretty well, however i just gravitated to using it on chords and rhythm because i love the warm depth and richness it can give chords and plus Eric Johnson really caught my attention with playing chords with hybrid picking and it doesn't have to fast or flashy to sound great.
Hey Andrew, I really appreciate your lessons and your way of explaining. Also, annotations like chord shapes and such are a huge plus! Have you ever thought about maybe doing a lesson about figuring out melodies just like you did for figuring out chords in a key? With greetings from Luxembourg, Tom
Great video, I've been using hybrid picking more as I've been playing triads. Sometimes when I just play triads and 3 notes at a time I slide the pick up thumb so I can use first 3 fingers for plucking those 3 notes. It sounds more consistent across the strings. I'm pretty sure EVH and other big rock players have played that way and with fingers more bent and tips of fingers are aligned.
thanks andrew for this super amazing lesson.... if possible can you upload a lesson on recording guitar videos with proper setup? i really want to learn it from you cause the way you explain stuff and teach is quite amazing and easily understandable
You don’t want to be flat picker. Unless you hybrid pick ,thump, flamenco percussion, pinky taps. I don’t use my pinky for taps. My strumming cannot flamenco technique. My thumb cannot Jimi Hendrix bass notes my fingers are small average. It doesn’t stop me from playing buckethead songs nobodys heard at jam night either.
It's a good lesson thank you very much but...... I find the cut between the sentences very distracting and unnatural. You're trying to cram as much in as you can I get it. I get it but you really need to relax more it will help your playing and will help the people trying to learn. Just relax man and keep up the good lessons!

Glad you enjoyed it!
As a beginner this is how I have started. Very hard but slowly getting it.

Nice! Yeah it’s been used a ton in rock as well 😁
WOW…. What a great teacher. Thank you.
You're very welcome!
I love your lessons. Thank you. I'm very much still in the beginner class, but......
You won’t be for long! Just keep at it, my friend 😁

Thanks! That's definitely something I've been wanting to do. I'm moving to a new space this week, and once it's all set up I'll make a video. Cheers!
excellent lesson, thanks once agian
My pleasure!
Nice presentation.
Great informative video, sir! Subbed :-)
Awesome, thank you!
good point with the pinky finger...been avoiding it to the point it feels like an alien body, and its quite hard to get it in sync with the others
The sooner you get going with it the better!
As a beginner less than a year in, would it do me more harm than good learning this before learning how to skip strings?
You'll still want to learn how to skip strings as a basic technique. But I would suggest incorporating hybrid picking as early as you can.
I liked 👌
Thanks!!
Well. You srill have 3 fingers when youbuse a pick. Shy limitbto s pickband 1 orher finger?
Not sure I fully understand what you were trying to say here.
I can't use my pinky. I smashed my hand through a window at age 11 and severed the tendon. It doesn't work well.
I'm going to use this all the time. Thank you so much!
That's a rough injury. Thanks for watching :)
Use your no no 11th finger as the pinky
